@rockingchaircandle are you still here?

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 12:42

It would be a great shame if this thread descended into a bunfight and got deleted as a result.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 12:42

I'm not making light of anything Rockinghorsecandle. It was a genuine warning.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 12:43

A very great shame indeed.

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 12:43

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

I have no idea why you posted this, but thanks for agreeing as facts, opinion and interpretation have had a rocky history on these threads!

"'Posting those old pics was a very foolish move."
Okay. I agree that this is an opinion and not a fact.

"the Instagram comments are brutal!"
This is also an opinion.

You are absolutely, totally and utterly correct and I was absolutely, totally and utterly incorrect in agreeing they were facts.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 12:44

Morning Froq.

Are you okay, this sunny Burns Night?

FizzAfterSix · 25/01/2020 12:44

The royals go from bad to worse.

Peter Philips advertising a Chinese dairy `farm' - though I use that word lightly as Chinese cows don't graze on fields but live appalling lives in vast factory farms;

Fergie is now flogging tat under a new logo `Duchess', but she's been doing that for years;

Zara's been flogging stuff on the back of her position, endorsing land rovers and sucking up to a dodgy Chinese billionaire who has been paying her for `advice';

Prince Charles flies to Davos in a private jet to lecture about climate change and refuses to shake the US VP's hand;

Harry and Megan, don't get me started.... they are all such a greedy bunch and if it wasn't for being born into the RF nobody would look twice at any of them in the street.

Sara Chatto and Viscount Linley have got it right.... she avoids the limelight and he is a supremely talented craftsman who may have traded on his connections a bit to get so much publicity, but never seemed to cross the line. So it can be done.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 12:44

I agree with you Mustress. I felt I had to correct a poster's misinterpretation of my comment and now that's done.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 25/01/2020 12:46

Didn’t Princess Margaret once say ‘my children aren’t royal, their aunt just happens to be Queen’ or have I imagined it?

callmeadoctor · 25/01/2020 12:46

Can we get back to fun and laughter and a bit of gossip? Grin

Bluerussian · 25/01/2020 12:46

Flipping heck, I missed that! Apart from a cunning, mercenary blogger (Tudor by name), nobody could believe Meghan to be a narcissist. I don't think even he does, he just wants to cause controversy and make money.

My opinion is that, now they've made the break, both of them will be happier and mentally more stable. However Harry is bound to miss England and his family, that is quite natural. I hope they visit often.

Froq · 25/01/2020 12:47

Good morning/afternoon Mustress.

I am ok, thank you. In fact, I’m positively thriving Grin

Are you ok? Will you be raising a sherry to toast Mr Burns this evening?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 12:47

Didn’t Princess Margaret once say ‘my children aren’t royal, their aunt just happens to be Queen’ or have I imagined it?

That sounds very possible. (she was quite jealous of the Queen!)

callmeadoctor · 25/01/2020 12:48

I do keep thinking back to William and Kate spending their early marriage in Anglesey, completely out of the news etc so it can be done. (Although Kate has now said that it was lonely which I completely get, and Anglesey is not really known for excitement!!!)

Roussette · 25/01/2020 12:50

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

Well... Pence would say that, wouldn't he? He was snubbed after all. And Princess Anne did snub Trump, no getting away from that.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 12:50

I am definitely not OK this morning. One small glass of wine and I have a three day headache and definite hangover symptoms. Sometimes I'm absolutely fine, occasionally this happens. 'Tis very unjust.

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 12:50

@Froq @TheMustressMhor

As I said yesterday, I can't be doing with passive aggressive beating around the bush. If you do want to raise anything, please do it clearly and address a point I've made. Play the ball not the man, and all that!

@Myimaginarycathasfleas Just to be clear: people were warned not to make up stuff about mental health conditions and use it as an attack - you misrepresented that.

callmeadoctor · 25/01/2020 12:55

Rockingchaircandle, do you think that Harry made the right decision? (leaving the royals etc)

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 13:00

@callmeadoctor

From what I can tell it seems like a good call for him and his family. Either way, I think it was very much his call to make. I hope he and his family are happy and continue to try and protect themselves from vindictive gossip.

Chinese New Year - 2020 is the year of the rat. There is an 'on-topic' point, if you make it to the end.

I found this quite intriguing (lighthearted!)

Rats are clever, quick thinkers; successful, but content with living a quiet and peaceful life.

Optimistic and energetic, people born in the Rat year are likable by all. They are sensitive to other’s emotions but are stubborn with your opinion. Their personality is kind, but due to weak communication skills, their words may seem impolite and rude.

Rats are clever and adapt quickly to new environments. They are creative, great at taking advantage of opportunities. However, they sometimes lack the courage to do so. Although they have great ideas, they might not be suitable for leadership positions.

They are alert, but have a lack of courage. This makes them unsuitable as police officers, entrepreneurs or other leadership and political positions. Although Rats make good financial decisions, they should be careful not to invest with a close friend. It will not only cause money problems, but also affect the friendship.

2020 will perform reasonably well for the Rat. Success will come in the form of career; celebrate the fact that your efforts will be rewarded and seen. On the other hand, your health and relationships will prove to be a struggle.

Finances will be booming for the entirety of the year! Your income might even double. It would do you well to save and invest your hard-earned money. Try to avoid spending it all on luxurious items and vacations.

Married couples; be on the lookout for challenges in your relationship. Petty arguments, financial battles, or suspicions might plague your love-life. When these issues surface, don’t let them fester. Deal with everything head on to experience a better year. Focus on the love you have for your partner; this person is your home, your safe zone, and your beloved.

Roosters are complex people who seem strong but, deep down, need validation from loved ones. Roosters are serious in their work. They are straightforward and decisive in their actions. They’ll directly criticize what they see unfit and are perfectionists.

Roosters are complex people who seem strong but, deep down, need validation from loved ones.

No matter how difficult something is, they won’t give up. But if someone is blocking their path, they will reveal their fierce side. They are terrifying if angered and get into arguments easily. Even if they lose, they’ll use various methods to convince others into their side.

Responsible and organized, they hate it when others tell them what to do. They’re confident, but not conceited. They are typically home-oriented, but crave for a position of high power. Deep down, they want to be appreciated by others.

Roosters are very serious and earnest with their work. They have professional skills and courage. They make smart choices, but instead of being more careful with important decisions, they often botch them. They also don’t like being ordered around.

Careers that fit Roosters are ones that give them enough space and freedom.Some choices are politicians, diplomats, tour guides and fashion designers.

The Rooster will succeed this year (2020) provided they make smart decisions and welcome support from colleagues.The Rooster tends to be oversensitive, relationships in business deals might suffer. It is crucial to think clearly, take stock of others’ feelings, and always consider the situation.

Roosters should avoid conversations that deal with controversy or politics. Married Roosters will need to be extra vigilant this year. There is a chance that you will face temptation outside of your marriage. For those invested in their partners, try to keep the romance alive. Go on dates, make special meals, or plan fun excursions. Do everything you can to avoid wandering eyes. On the flipside, married couples could experience blissful news that a new baby will come.

Harry is a Rat, Meghan is a Rooster.

I think The Robbing Butcher sounds like one of those modern name pub names!

GracefulHippo · 25/01/2020 13:03

Callme, I understand that it must have been lonely for Kate, but how wonderful at the same time to just get some time alone with your baby. With my first, I loved staying in, bathing her, holding her and napping whenever she did.

It is great that the press and paps gave them the privacy to do that. And Meghan as well in terms of private pictures I think (not counting Wimbledon etc when she went to a public event)?

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 25/01/2020 13:12

goldierocks

Can I get a link to that? So I can look up my own year and animal? Thanks!

goldierocks · 25/01/2020 13:16

Of course!

If the source link in my post didn't work, here it is in full: chinesenewyear.net

GracefulHippo · 25/01/2020 13:21

article in the FT that 73% of the Canadians do not want to pay for security.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 25/01/2020 13:22

Oh sorry I didn't realise you'd already linked. Many thanks Smile
