Sussex Royal trademark application reported to have been blocked by an Australian doctor which will hold the ker-ching up for a bit.

Hope they've got a good deal on storage for all those bandannas.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 10:59

In terms of comparison to the Brexit demographic, I'm a Remainer who isn't a fan of the Royal Family as an institution but has nothing against them as people because of their royalty.

Given their experiences I can see why they would want to leave. Given the formalities, protocol, money and tradition involved I can see it's not a straightforward process but they have every right and I wish them the best.

So a little bit of overlap with other remainers!

Good luck, @MustressMhor Cake Please join us later.

Thank you for the new thread, yolo

So, approval of SussexRoyal trademark delayed! I hope it will be rejected or put on hold - it’s been made clear they are not to use HRH and royal status.

That pic of Diana in Australia Shock - the crowds in the background are overwhelming, she is a new mother, no wonder she cried.

I have started scrolling past posts from users who are not contributing to the topic(s) and are being deliberately obtuse and controlling about what opinions can be shared.

Encyclo · 24/01/2020 11:00

Jesus lads, it's all gone completely tits up this morning.

This thread has been a brilliant distraction for me as we go through an unspeakable family tragedy . My sons best friend was stabbed to death last week at age 20.

Can we please just discuss the topic and stop
Assuming things about posters?

TwentyViginti · 24/01/2020 11:02

I love the pageantry of big royal weddings - wouldn't travel to one though. Quite happy to watch on TV!

I don't agree that Meghan disliked the limelight, though. I still feel she wanted to be a brand, not merely ensconced under the royal umbrella, and think Harry was/is foofstruck enough to go along with it.

peridito · 24/01/2020 11:03

Encyclo I am so very very sorry . I don't know what to say ,that's unimaginable .

7Worfs · 24/01/2020 11:04

Re the Brexit and Megxit overlap - I guess the hypothesis is that supporters of H&M are the woke crowd, which are so far left (e.g. not the working class traditionally) that obviously they can’t be Brexiteers.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 11:05

@Enclyo really sorry to hear about your son's friend.

Encyclo · 24/01/2020 11:05

There are no words @peridito. His parents got
Their gorgeous boy home last night and we will spend the weekend farewelling him.

I mean it when I say this silly thread has kept me sane.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 11:07

Is it not better to just let them use the word Royal in the trademark, potentially make more money, and be able to pay back money/pay for their own security?

EcocabbyRickShaw · 24/01/2020 11:07

Encyclo that is appalling. So very sorry for his family and of course also for yours.

TwentyViginti · 24/01/2020 11:14

Well, Harry IS royal by birth, nothing can change that. Still 6th in line to the throne. About trademarks...its a difficult one.

Also de-lurking to wish @TheMustressMhor well for today Flowers

hellsbells99 · 24/01/2020 11:17

Encyclo very sorry to hear your tragic news Flowers

Froq · 24/01/2020 11:17

Can we please just discuss the topic

Agreed.

We should be due an instagram post, announcement or pap walk any day now that they’re slipping from the headlines.

Encyclo · 24/01/2020 11:21

Thanks everyone 💕

Here's a light hearted post we can all get behind.

When will we next see them out and about?

I'm thinking they'll be spotted at the weekend going about their lives.

Thoughts?

7Worfs · 24/01/2020 11:22

Anyone know when is William or Kate’s next engagement? 😏

TwentyViginti · 24/01/2020 11:23

Agreed we're due some pap shots or IG posts - unless Harry has vetoed any engagement with SM for now?

CleansUpDragonPoo · 24/01/2020 11:24

Encyclo, that's just heartrending, I am so very sorry. Seems such an inadequate thing to say, but said with feeling. Puts all this angst into perspective.

It shouldn’t be a question of •letting• them do anything. They have no right to the use of Royal, having turned their back on all that. They had the arrogance to think they could force the Queen’s hand by posting their list of requirements prematurely. Really low behaviour. His grandmother must be so disappointed.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 11:31

I was curious and I looked up, I hadn't realised there were rules about getting the Queen's permission in the UK to use the word 'Royal'.

I see it as a kind of divorce for Harry from a marriage he was born into. He would have got a lot of stick for leaving, but in terms of settlement it could be a good way of recognising his part in the Royal Family to date, and contributing to his future finances without it coming from the UK directly?

CleansUpDragonPoo · 24/01/2020 11:32

"I'm thinking they'll be spotted at the weekend going about their lives."
Wonder what exciting event they'll stage for us? They don't / can't have a normal life under these circs.

ajandjjmum · 24/01/2020 11:32

I think the Queen is old enough and wise enough to know that we all screw up from time to time in our lives - at least most of us do.

I just hope that she is around to see things improve significantly whatever direction they take - regardless of what I think will happen.

peridito · 24/01/2020 11:35

But they wanted to continue to support the Queen and to collaborate with her .
They got a lot of flack about wanting to be" half in half out " though I don't understand why is considered to be wrong .Though of course a lot of people then said they wanted to" cherry pick" engagements .No basis for saying that as far as I can see .
They expressed no desire to "turn their back " ,indeed H expressed sorrow that the arrangements were that they could no longer work within the family business .

I think the publication from H&M has been discussed before - some feel it wasn't an effort to force her hand but part of a process that the Queen said had been going on for months . Some also think that the Sun threatening to reveal details played a part in the timing .
