Good morning all

Guy I hope the emergency vet can help your cat.

GracefulHippo I went to the Leonardo DaVinci exhibition last year too, on the hottest day of the year. I thought it was amazing.

Royal Collection Financial Reports are here, for anyone interested.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 09:54

How worrying for you Guy.Thanks
Hopefully it's just getting the medication right.

Goldengroveunleaving · 25/01/2020 10:00

So sorry your cat is poorly GuytheBeagle. Do hope the emergency vet has some good ideas to help. Sometimes I think it can be a matter of trial and error but that's desperately worrying for you in the meantime Flowers

OVienna · 25/01/2020 10:00

Thanks for you Guy and your dear chat. Xxx

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 10:11

You've probably thought of this already, Guy but just turn up. Never mind ringing them. Be there for when they open up.

And maybe ask them how clients get in touch with a vet when they're not open.

goldierocks · 25/01/2020 10:39

Thyroid medicine allergy in cats is a thing; but it sounds like it can get sorted out quickly.

Good luck with the vet, GuyCat

peridito · 25/01/2020 10:41

Goldie thanks for the link - it explains that the surplus ( currently £8,077,000 ) is "devoted primarily to completion of Future Programme which is focussed on improving visitor facilities and the creation of new Learning Centres at Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse"

so re invested in the business I guess ?

GoFiguire · 25/01/2020 10:48

The new SussexRoyal IG post hasn’t gone down well judging by the comments.

Parker231 · 25/01/2020 10:50

One of my cats had thyroid problems, it took lots of vets visits to get exactly the right dose but the benefits lasted her for four years before old age problems took over.

goldierocks · 25/01/2020 10:54

I think so, peridito. I read something else about the 'Future Programme' - I think it's a defined set of improvements which are due to be completed by the end of next year (2021).

I don't know when the Future Programme started, but iirc I believe it also covered accessible access/toilets and switching to sustainable packaging in the gift shops and cafes. I remember reading about it on a visit to BP last year.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 10:55

I can never work out how to find anything on Instagram, GoFiguire.

I daresay this shows my age. Can you link it?

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 25/01/2020 10:57

"Meghan Markle wants to become more 'politically engaged' and could even intervene in the U.S. presidential election" - a headline in the DM today.

PH must surely have told Meghan that expressing her political views as a member of the RF was a no-no. Why on earth did he go on to marry her knowing this?

If it is true that she wants to "stage an intervention" (whatever that means) during the US electoral campaign later this year then, IMO, she is going to need more security. Is she becoming a loose canon?

HMQ must dread opening the papers these days.

Historyisdifficult · 25/01/2020 10:59

Yes Instagram comments must be depressing. Can't you not allow comments , think I would if I were them!

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 25/01/2020 11:05

My god, the Instagram comments are brutal! Posting those old pics was a very foolish move.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 11:07

I suppose it's possible that MM didn't fully understand how entirely impartial the RF has to be. I mean, always, forever, saying nothing, keeping apolitical.

I would find it hard not to comment sometimes.

But maybe the benefits and rewards would make that worthwhile. If you're someone who likes very expensive designer clothes, and being able to wear them only once before moving on to the next thing, it could be argued that it doesn't matter tuppence if you can't really say what you think.

7Worfs · 25/01/2020 11:07

Disabling comments is a major no no, it’s a forfeit of the coveted influencer status.

I’m laughing at the staging intervention during the US president election. Can’t wait for her DNC rally speech. Grin

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 11:08

The DM is one of the leading papers in the campaign against Meghan. This is more unsubstantiated rumours, to sell papers and drive traffic to their site. And, oh look, it just worked!

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite what is your understanding of "stage an intervention" that you think it will require more security. Is she to blame?

She's spot on when she "attacked Donald Trump for being 'divisive' and 'misogynistic'"

I'm sure, as a decent person, the Queen dreads opening the paper and seeing what her son, Andrew, has been up to more than anything else!

GuytheBeagle · 25/01/2020 11:09

Hi Again

Thanks for all the kind comments and links.

Much better now. spoke to the vet nurse - the 'wound' on her neck is very likely to be thé shaved site from the blood draw.BlushBlushBlush I have only experience of blood being taken from the leg before.

Vet will ring later. Mhustress. Decided not to take her in on spec as it's a long drive and she gets very , very scared. Have been with this practice for years and I know from experience they would have called back quickly - at that point I thought I may as well wait till 1030. They're a small independent practice who regularly go above and beyond. I didn't mean to sound critical of them- I had forgotten the 1030 thing on Sat, that's all.

Am sure a plan will be arrived at. No longer feel sick. In fact have consumed a brunch of scrambled duck egg x 3. Yum.

Sorry for all the drama. Thanks for asking if I am ok Grin

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 11:09

If the instagram comments are 'brutal' do you have to be gleeful about them?

Goldengroveunleaving · 25/01/2020 11:13

So glad GuytheBeagle Smile!

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 11:16

That's very good news, GuyTheBeagle.

I am glad the DCat is soon to be okay and that you managed a large quantity of duck eggs yourself.

DH produced a very good breakfast chez Mhor today, although the eggs were just a touch overcooked, as fucking usual.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/01/2020 11:16

peridito the Trust is made up of a registered charity and its trading subsidiary. The TS's role to raise funds through commercial activities and then transfer the profits back into the charity. It's a very common structure.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 11:18

7Worfs

Why is it "coveted" to be an IG Influencer?

I am sure there must be a mega-buck answer to this but the aggravation doesn't seem worth it.

But then I lead a very quiet life, in a small Scottish village.

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 25/01/2020 11:20

Was that addressed to me rockingchaircandle? There was nothing gleeful in my post. It was a statement of fact.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 11:22

HMQ must dread opening the papers these days

Just as Mr. Mhor and I dread every Saturday, when our 88 year-old neighbour brings the Mail over.

She would be so hurt if we told her the truth.

It's handy for cleaning windows, though.
