And best wishes to mustress and thanks for her excellent thread titles.

I picture Carole Middleton at Waitrose...

But apart from the selection, quality is not better with a higher price. I have found some fish and chicken better quality at Tesco than at M&S, and much cheaper (makes you feel ripped off)

7Worfs · 24/01/2020 21:50

GracefulHippo Haven't checked out yet, will post about it once I do.
The mugs don't call to me, oddly.
I think I'll discard the big choc boxes and maybe one of the Christmas decorations.

We've got so many interesting anecdotes about the RF here, yolofish you could have had the Queen's ear within a decade in! Or be appointed adviser to the Sussexes and we wouldn't have been in this mess now.

yolofish · 24/01/2020 21:50

rockingchair I dont think anyone has any doubt that H&M can step back if they want to, what they have been questioning all along is the WAY they have done/are doing it, and perhaps whether they are on the same wavelength about the methods they've chosen.

But Waitrose has better grapes and smoked salmon.

yolofish · 24/01/2020 21:52

7worfs I think you should keep the xmas decs! we have some from Sandringham - I'd love to say more... and in fact I will, PIL bought them for the DDs after they'd been on a tour. Actually they are a PITA as very heavy so they bend the tree branches, but they are very pretty.

I'd put all the food items back and fill my basket with Christmas decorations..

GracefulHippo · 24/01/2020 21:56

Niceguy, you are being unreasonable, I love rose and violet creams. They remind me of my grandmother. I loved my grandmother and eating violet (and rose) creams make me happy.

True regarding smoked salmon, Waitrose is superior. Although M&S has quite tasty grapes as well, guess Waitrose may be better... (Tesco is sadly appalling with smoked salmon and grapes).

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 21:57

@yolo it seems otherwise to me. I think some people very much think they shouldn't have broken away! They think 'how dare they?', but hide it behind disrespectful timing, or wording of announcements etc. (Not saying everyone thinks this obviously Wink)

GracefulHippo · 24/01/2020 21:58

We have some heavy Christmas tree decorations (not royal, just old). The trick is to hand them very far in on branches (as I am sure you know)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/01/2020 21:58

...especially crowns and corgis.

derxa · 24/01/2020 21:59

OK, she is HMQ of GB and the Commonwealth, that's her official position. But she is globally recognised as the person that every other world leader wants to meet, I'd call that a global position wouldnt you? Absolutely accurate

JulietJanuary · 24/01/2020 22:00

Was there a link for these decorations? I can't find it!

CleansUpDragonPoo · 24/01/2020 22:01

Oh, just back in and catching up - so sorry for the tagging, I thought that was the things were done, so apologies if I've offended anyone

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 24/01/2020 22:03

Just finished watching the itv royal documentary.

My impressions -

Diana was regarded as a loose cannon

Kate - they seem to like as she defers to William

Meghan - the jury is out. And they (especially lady Glenconner) think she needs to let Harry lead

Margaret- a bit of a lost soul & rebel

Prince Philip - had a hard time with a bit of depression but devoted to the Queen

Queen - duty, duty & adores her husband

Charles - jealous of Diana

JulietJanuary · 24/01/2020 22:03

It is interesting to look up the story of the Duchess of Kent who gave up her position at court and went to work in Hull as a music teacher.

queenofarles · 24/01/2020 22:03

Where do you think Carole Middleton shops?
Daylesford farms for food.

Didn’t someone snap a picture of George with Carole at Waitrose? I think it was around the time Kate was pregnant with Charlotte.

RozHuntleysStump · 24/01/2020 22:05

7worfs - treat yo self

JulietJanuary · 24/01/2020 22:05

Gary, tank commander on tv. Someone on here mentioned it?

Anyway bye for now!

MissEliza · 24/01/2020 22:06

Yolofish well said.

CleansUpDragonPoo · 24/01/2020 22:06

Welcome back Mustress (note no tag - I'm paying attention), pleased to hear your news. Wondering if the sherry is of the sweet cream type like Harvey's Bristol cream, or the best served over ice dry sort like Tio Pepe? Or either, both, or neither!

GracefulHippo · 24/01/2020 22:07

I have googled pink gin. There seem to be a lot of cocktails with it, looks tasty. Also it can be put in trifle....

JulietJanuary · 24/01/2020 22:09

Thank you Roz!

TheMustressMhor · 24/01/2020 22:09

Sherry makes you merry

Or fall asleep, if you drink too much of it.

I must have a look at that website. 7Worfs you cannot discard any boxes of chocolates. Surely chocolates are essential goods?

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 24/01/2020 22:12

Myimaginarycathasfleas

I didn't think of him having an in front of camera role but yes, I could see that. Well, good luck to them if they can make it work.
I'm not sure it would work in the long term. I must admit that if I had to choose between a PH documentary on wildlife conservation or David Attenborough, I'd choose Attenborough every time.

Who will want to buy their productions? Would it start off being watched and then we'd become bored with H&M pushing their causes?

But then you would wonder why they would want to stay part time royals at all, and indeed how they thought it was going to work.
I don't think they thought about it in any great detail. I think they wanted to stay as part time royals because they wouldn't expect to be able to keep their royal patronages if they gave up completely. I am surprised HMQ has said they can keep their patronages tbh.
There wasn't a chance in hell of it working with them being part time royals because of the danger of bringing disrepute on the RF.
