A new thread in which to discuss what happens next in this saga.

And best wishes to mustress and thanks for her excellent thread titles.

I've not seen that thread but I have seen what people say about the Kardashian children in particular on various other sites.

"We don't have that in America" says Meghan.

No you're right you don't, you have something much worse.

goldierocks · 24/01/2020 16:24

I've just read an article about Prince Louis being taken to the Natural History Museum by his nanny while Catherine was 'on duty' this week. There are pictures on social media, which the tabloids are not running.

The irony of Harry and Megan 'fleeing' to Canada to escape the publication of their pics in the tabloids when they would be far more protected in the UK is staggering!

derxa · 24/01/2020 16:24

Do you know the Campbells of Drimsynie Mustress ?

emzey · 24/01/2020 16:26

I have to have a look a title's to purchase.
I mean, if you can make them up that would be great. Names please.
We have a Duchess SherryWink

TheMustressMhor · 24/01/2020 16:26

I know them well, derxa. Every last one of them.

Do you live near Drimsynie?

Nikhedonia · 24/01/2020 16:28

"We don't have that in America" says Meghan.

Oh yes, the notoriously respectful and distant Hollywood press and paparazzi.

derxa · 24/01/2020 16:29

Do you live near Drimsynie? No but I am a sheep farmer and everyone knows everybody else. Their uncle is Sir John Campbell of Glenrath near Peebles.

Froq · 24/01/2020 16:29

So we’ll have something fairly large to distract from the Cambs on the 2nd. Then we have the Oscars on the 9th.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 16:35

The point about the press, is not whether or not they print photos. It's the spin they put on the photos. Like the comparisons people put together showing how the same act (eg touching bump) was portrayed either negatively for Meghan as opposed to positively for Kate. It's a shame any press or forums are targeting real people, either side of the Atlantic.

katiegoestoaldi · 24/01/2020 16:35

Just an example of sleb life in Hollywood. If they think they're going to be left alone, they're wrong

Lunde · 24/01/2020 16:36

Giving an interview to Ellen? Oprah and Gail are going to be pissed off - especially after giving them public support and Oprah inviting Doria to her house.

Nikhedonia · 24/01/2020 16:40

katiegoes that is just depressing. Poor Jennifer Sad. Must be like living in a goldfish bowl or having a stalker.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/01/2020 16:42

Call me cynical but if you were trying to maximise your income from public appearances I suppose you might try and introduce an element of competition between hopeful interviewers.

The first interview will be a scoop, because after that there won't be a lot else to say.

Wheresthebeach · 24/01/2020 16:44

Blaming the press is just an excuse IMO. MM just wanted out, and blaming the press hit all of H's buttons.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 16:46

As there's been a little flurry of posts pointing out the positives of this thread, such as it being "light relief from our lives and other issues" I'd just point out that the threads have got pretty nasty at points. Both about Meghan and Harry and towards other posters on the threads. There have been deletions and warnings. By all means have light relief but it shouldn't be at anyone else's expense.

As you're back now, @TheMustressMhor perhaps could clarify what the upsetting post or message was that you received. It led to lots of veiled accusations and I didn't like being treated to a witch hunt!

7Worfs · 24/01/2020 16:46

Loving the side chat about village life in Scotland - I’d move if it wasn’t for the midges.
I’d also like to brag that I’ve done the West Highlands walk - Milngavie to Fort William.

Also attended a private dinner in Sterling castle, with a midnight bagpipe performance. It was snowy and perfect.

I look forward to the BAFTAs, hope Kate wears something beautiful.
For once I’ll also miss Meghan - she really brought glam to the RF, alas no more.

emzey · 24/01/2020 16:47

Rocking chair, I understand what you mean. I have stood up for Meghan in the past, but her behaviour has become more confident and Harry has appeared more uncomfortable. People have picked up on this. Obviously she is an actress, I don't know how good an actress she is but still, to see a man so uneasy. It's awful and it will get worse, to make the money they need or want then they have to put themselves 'for sale'. It will get worse for him I think. I may be wrong.

emzey · 24/01/2020 16:50

You don't need too. Just put it behind you.
Start afresh. Smile

Parker231 · 24/01/2020 16:52

What has Harry done which has made him appear more uncomfortable? He hates the press but has done so for years so no change there.

diddl · 24/01/2020 16:52

"Surely the two of them can live on MM's 2,000,000 till then?"

Oh yes, I was just pointing out that if he can't yet get to his millions (& I don't know if he can't), then they aren't as immediately as well off as is being touted iyswim.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 16:55

@emzey

I don't watch that closely, but if Harry's seeming uneasy could it not be for the reasons he's given rather than martial problems? It must be very tough for him. If I was Meghan I'd be keeping my chin up and seeming as confident as possible!
You're right it will probably be harder for him to adjust to life outside the royal family. He will be used to being 'for sale' but not to having to sell himself.

@wheresthebeach I don't think Meghan or Harry needed an excuse. They have a right to leave if they wish, but I think there is enough examples of hostile press for it not to seem like an excuse.

TheMustressMhor · 24/01/2020 16:55

Sorry diddl I know what you meant. I was just saying that in most people's terms, they are extremely well off.

derxa I love sheep. There are so many round here. I have such respect for sheep farmers - they work so hard, all year long.

diddl · 24/01/2020 17:01

Oh yes TheMustress, no need to apologise.

I mean if we were given 2.5 mill, we'd buy a small place & retire!

Nikhedonia · 24/01/2020 17:01

It isn't much money in Hollywood terms.

I wonder if the 'keeping up the Jones' mentality on a much lower income (without the RF property) could be quite exhausting in their new life.

Roussette · 24/01/2020 17:04

Blaming the press is just an excuse IMO. MM just wanted out, and blaming the press hit all of H's buttons

Having seen endless bad press directed at MM (she could not do a thing right), I disagree. Have you seen the comparisons between the Press reporting on Catherine compared to Meghan? It's shocking and it speaks for itself and I can link it if you want.
