Davos isn't a large place, could a private plane land on a smaller runway closer?

It's about 95 miles from Zurich and there are perfectly good commercial flights, but of course Charles would expect a private jet and the plaudits for his electric car stunt

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 20:01

As far as parenting goes, I wish I was more Kate like my brother and his wife, but in reality I'm a Meghan 😏

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 20:02

(Though I never let my kids get on other people's nerves! And they have near perfect manners)

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:04

I didn't let mine run wild but they were 'spirited' and ds2 knows his own mind a bit too much! Mind you , George with that Christmas pudding stirring, he looked very determined!
Kate also has an iron will. I haven't.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 20:06

There's no way Meghan would have worn Diana's ring as it is. Too staid a design. I bet she was quite relieved to have one she could jazz up to her own specifications.

I thought it was odd that it didn't go to William anyway actually.

derxa · 22/01/2020 20:10

You know I’d love to do all the tours PrincessAnne does. Looking at slurry spreading and prisoners is fascinating... isn’t it?!!! To me it would all be fascinating. PA is a farmer and probably has a slurry spreader.
She came to our wee town in the last couple of years. Her helicopter landed in the field next to mine. She was officially opening our tiny museum. A lot of us love her here because of her support of Scottish rugby and farming. She supports Dodie Weir's foundation. www.myname5doddie.co.uk/
This sort of stuff is what the RF is best at.
I also love Kate.

SeperatedSwans · 22/01/2020 20:12

I am always thought to be cold and offish. Not very approachable. I quite like it. It allows me to decide who I want to talk to or engage with. I haven't the time or patience for false chitter chatter. My resting bitch face makes sure people take a wide birth 🤣

And Kate and Meghan are indeed chalk and cheese. They are from two very different upbringings and also two different cultures UK Vs USA. They also have different ambitions and goal. Except being able to reproduce I can't see them having much in common.

Kate seems that perfect mum/woman, it be quite intimidated to be in her presence. I'd probably feel very inferior, now Kate has done nothing to me, but that's how I'd feel.

MurrayTheMonk · 22/01/2020 20:13

William chose Di's watch, Harry the ring. Harry gave William the ring for Kate. Which was sweet. They loved each other once Sad

MurrayTheMonk · 22/01/2020 20:14

I actually love Princess Anne the very most.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:17

Kate would intimidate me as she is so perfect. It's ridiculous and I'll never meet her or anything but she seems like she would be hard to get to know. Not her fault at all but she must be wary of people.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 20:18

William chose Di's watch, Harry the ring. Harry gave William the ring for Kate. Which was sweet.

It was, and consistent with the impression I have of Harry, which is of a naturally giving nature. And now he has found a wife with a naturally taking one.

AcrossthePond55 · 22/01/2020 20:20

If there was a Catherine/Meghan 'tiff' I'd say it had to do with the way that C seemed to 'slide' acceptingly into her role as DoC. I don't mean she didn't have it tough, just that whatever problems she had, she kept successfully out of the public eye. Meghan, on the other hand, seemed to need to publicize her 'troubles'. Different approaches as it were.

And she found that publicizing things didn't get her the sympathy she expected. Either from the Cambridges, the RF, or the British public at large. As a 'celebrity' she was probably used to hearing 'poor you' about intrusion, job requirements, etc. But as a member of the RF, you're probably told to get on with things. I'd expect that M would have gotten (very polite) short shrift from C about 'problems' with the role of 'public' royal. I can see C saying "Yes, yes, it can be difficult. But that's the JOB. We signed up for it when we married."

Makes me wonder how many times, when she complained to Harry about the rules of her role, he said "Yes, but Catherine.....". Not words to endear your SiL to you.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:24

Yes, I bet every time Meghan moaned about the press or whatever Harry probably cited Kate and that would annoy most women.
Plus the press set up against each other too.
That didn't help matters either.
The royals are ' shut up and get on with it' types. My family are like this and sometimes you just want a bit of sympathy and someone on your side!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/01/2020 20:24

Kate seems that perfect mum/woman, it be quite intimidated to be in her presence

No need; I chatted to her once on a Norfolk beach and she couldn't have been more pleasant. Though anything but ordinary, that's the way she came across - just a regular mum (who is, incidentally, very well clued up on local issues)

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/01/2020 20:26

@TracyBeakerSoYeah yes I'm ok now someone's asked. I starting to feel very unloved!Grin

I read a story that Kate was bullied when at boarding school and that I think is partly responsible for the 'reserve' but I think she appears very warm and sincere in her engagements and I suspect she's a contrast, a sort of 'still waters run deep' sort of person.. All appears calm on the outside, but there's emotional torrents flowing under the surface!

GuytheBeagle · 22/01/2020 20:28

I am not OK.

Dcat 1 ( aged 11) has been displaying some odd behaviours recently ( hugely increased appetite and urination, hyperactivity) which combined with other things led to a light bulb moment today so went on the dreaded Google - possibly hyper thyroidism.

Apart from that she is a happy healthy looking cat with beautiful glossy coat so hoping it has been caught early.

Great news is if it's that it seems treatable, but various issues as she goes outdoors, hates pills, and we are a three dc household so special diets etc v difficult to manage long term.

Vet tomorrow, I guess bloods first.Sad

So I am downing theWineand watching Mr Markle at 9...

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/01/2020 20:29

*was starting!

Don't think TM will come across well tonight. I feel for him but don't agree with the way he's gone about putting his side. He seems particularly suspectible to media manipulation.

I also agree not much new will be learned amidst the tons of Hotel Travago Ads!

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:29

She never seems ordinary though does she? Harry seems more 'ordinary ' to me than Kate is. Even her infamous pic of her in the see through number at Uni on the cat walk looked intimidating! She is of a different class to most women id say! Good with children though. Diana was the same.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:31

I read about the bullying. Kate dealt with it though. She is tougher than she looks I bet.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 22/01/2020 20:32

Kate was bullied when at boarding school and that I think is partly responsible for the 'reserve

I get this as I was badly bullied throughout school too (private but luckily not boarding). I was a sporty swot and managed to just piss off everyone. I wasn't cool enough for the sporty crowd and no one likes a swot - and in top of that I wasn't English and, in the early days at least, still had a bit of an accent. As a result of thar I, incredibly wary of people and keep everyone at arms length.

GuytheBeagle · 22/01/2020 20:36

leigh identify with so much of thatThanks
In the end it makes us stronger Crown Wink

Encyclo · 22/01/2020 20:37

I never really warmed to Kate, found those perfect pics on the steps of the Lindo wing ridiculous and spent my time Panicking that she was going to either slip in those heels and drop the baby, or bleed through her flimsy Summer dress. I also bought into all the "Waity Katey" crap the press were feeding us at the time etc.

I only warmed to her properly this Christmas, watching the Mary Berry documentary. She was lovely in that. Really kind and engaged.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:37

I guess nobody even tried to bully William or Harry ; they would have got the bodyguard on to them straight away!
Bullying of any kind is awful though. I had a job and was bullied for a while : was horrible but you live and learn. It can be soul destroying.

roisinagusniamh · 22/01/2020 20:37

Is it true that M and H refused a title for Archie or were they not offered one by the Queen?

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 20:39

They didn't want a title for Archie I believe.
( because Meghan had already decided their fate by then probably!)
