I hope I've got what everyone wants in the title of this, the twelfth thread in the series.

I can imagine Greta giving Charles a bit of a hmmm re the private jet but probably understands the reasons why & has is quite pleased he took an electric car to Davos to make up for it.
I can see Greta & PC getting on famously, she looks quite impressed in the photo.

Slightly on a tangent the name Davos always sounds a bit sinister, makes me think of daleks as the chief dalek was Davros. Now he/it was scary.

I had a little browse at a few ‘we love Meg’ sites and groups and was shocked at the vitriol they spew for Cathy and Bill.

Meg’s attempts to harness attention from other royals, particularly Catherine, is seen as rivalry and it appears to be inflaming the situation. Lots of posts about how William and his kids could be killed so Harry can take the throne, lots more trashing Catherine’s appearance.

She’s playing a dangerous game.

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 19:37

People are wishing harm on William’s children? How unhinged do you have to be...

JulieWaltersCatSnaggedMyJumper · 22/01/2020 19:39

it was in reference to the electric car thread title being handy no vitriol toward Charles. Smile

Butterymuffin · 22/01/2020 19:39

Davos isn't a large place, could a private plane land on a smaller runway closer?

Dunno but he could have taken a stand by making his contribution to the event by Skype, and avoided adding to his carbon footprint too.

Charles apparently finds first class travel very uncomfortable and prefers a private jet.

The man doesn't know the meaning of the word 'uncomfortable' then. What a baby.

SeperatedSwans · 22/01/2020 19:40

Evening all, just wanted to say I'm not ok. But us peasants must carry on.

I can't keep up with the speed of these threads at all haha! I am going to watch the channel 5 thing with a nice cuppa though.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 19:40

I'd wager a few bob that Kate and Meghan did not really get on. Harry did get on well with her once and maybe Meghan couldn't deal with this? Just speculation on my part but I sensed a rivalry there.

The wedding problems didn't help matters either I suppose.

MurrayTheMonk · 22/01/2020 19:42

But Charles isn't in charge of scheduling international climate conferences is he?its not 'his' project in the same way Kate's kids survey or anything of Meghans is?
Dunno-there's a bit of a difference between Charles going to an international conference the same day as Kate does something, and Meghan posting about something she did two weeks ago the same day as Kate does something... especially as Meghan has pretty much slated Kate and wills indirectly whereas Charles, we assume, likes them?

I don't know. I earlier thought it unlikely that Megz would even be aware of what Kate was doing in the UK in any given day-now not so sure 🤷🏽‍♀️

colouringinpro · 22/01/2020 19:42

Tracy that's a really cute picture - thanks

Butterymuffin · 22/01/2020 19:43

The electric car bit is fine but how long was that bit of the journey, and from how far away was it brought to be used for Charles?

Reminds me of David Cameron showing his green credentials by cycling to the Commons. Except that he was accompanied / followed by a car with his briefcase, boxes of paperwork, suit to change into on arrival...

StartupRepair · 22/01/2020 19:43

Been wanting to say...does Harry have any friends in Canada or any connections there? Can he slope off and join some shooting/hunting/polo circles? Or is that not on brand?

Alsohuman · 22/01/2020 19:44

The reasons for the private flight:

Scott Furssedonn-Wood, the Prince's deputy private secretary, has said: "We always look at a range of options, we take a number of factors into account when we decide how to travel, we weigh up things like cost of course with environmental impact as you'd expect, but also efficiency of time, size of delegation and crucially safety and security."

He highlighted a number of trips including the Prince's official visits to Japan and India where he flew by commercial airlines, but for this tour he said all of their considerations could not be satisfied by scheduled flights.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/01/2020 19:44

I can't believe you guys just froze me out true markle style and moved on to a whole new thread without even looking back, or checking to see if I was ok!Angry

Grin

I've been run off my feet with work and family. Have no idea where we're at. Got some idea that there's an insta SIL competition going on but that's all! Missed anything else?

@TheMustressMhor how was the curry?

And is the Barber still shooting?

MurrayTheMonk · 22/01/2020 19:45

Plenty of hunting and I think Polo in Canada.
Wouldnt think he'd want to be seen hunting anymore though tbh...

JulieWaltersCatSnaggedMyJumper · 22/01/2020 19:45

I wish now I'd just added a clicky link about partridges to prove I have no vitriol towards them either.

mum2jakie · 22/01/2020 19:45

I'll be watching the channel 5 documentary tonight.

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 19:46

Kate and Meghan are entirely different people - upbringing, values, and more.

I’d speculate Meghan thought Kate was passive, not feminist enough, not ambitious enough, a pampered middle class girl.

Kate probably made a half-hearted attempt to be friendly (she does seem somewhat reserved, this is not a criticism, I am the same), and it was all downhill from there.

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 19:48

A pampered middle class girl

To be fair that's what she is. But she's also a great Queen in waiting

Froq · 22/01/2020 19:48

Just speculation on my part but I sensed a rivalry there.

There was also that story leaked by a source (Meg) about Kate not welcoming her and not inviting her to shopping when she first moved to the UK.

It’s ridiculous but surely you’d take some simple steps to not add fuel to the fire, like not timing the release of your Instagram post to coincide with the exact time of the press release re Kate’s current tour.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 19:52

Kate was probably a bit too perfect for Meghan. I get it, totally pristine perfect lovely women who can appear crease free after a long drive and always look great are intimidating. Meghan probably wasn't but she may have been a bit irritated and Harry has called her the sister he didn't have so that may have rankled too. They are chalk and cheese.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/01/2020 19:52

I agree. Whatever else you can say of M she loves to get stuck in and take the helm of projects. They probably were too different to ever get on. Shame really. Loved the idea of the fab four.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/01/2020 19:53

Are you ok now Catherine?

And talking of Catherines, yes I can see Kate being a little bit reserved & shy to begin with but would become a great & loyal friend too once she knows you can be trusted.
I can't quite imagine Kate not getting on with anyone, well apart from Trump.

MarySidney · 22/01/2020 19:54

Kate probably made a half-hearted attempt to be friendly (she does seem somewhat reserved, this is not a criticism, I am the same), and it was all downhill from there.

She was pregnant and possibly suffering with hg during H & M's engagement, wasn't she? And then very recently pp at the wedding. In the circs, getting chummy with Meghan was possibly not her first priority. (Did anyone ask if she was OK?)

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 19:58

I think they would have made great women’s ambassadors together - Kate’s focus on children and Meghan on career, balancing motherhood with ambition, etc

These are not either/or - most women are all those things at different stages of life. Ah well.

To add a bit of bitchiness - don’t forget Diana’s engagement ring was Harry’s and he gave it to Will! Must be eating at Meghan even now Wink

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 19:59

Kate is an a mum who is tough but fair I bet and the kids know whose boss at home!
Meghan will be the wilder more free and easy mum. ( let them run about and get on peoples nerves , because they are just kids!)
We're all different, I wish I'd been more Kate with mine sometimes! I bet she is strict..
