I hope I've got what everyone wants in the title of this, the twelfth thread in the series.

Well "H" is there putting the brakes on and spoiling all the fun now isn't he?

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 19:09

Suspiciously quiet TracyBeaker.

But the Thomas Markle documentary is on later, and although none of us think it will be an outstanding piece of televisual journalism, we are going to discuss it.

Was it Pauline Quirke who played one of the characters in the bbc tv adaptation of the ' Scold's bride' ?

I believe she was in The Sculptress. The first time I saw Daniel Craig was in an adaptation of Minette Walters' The Ice House.

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 19:09

I don't have a problem with PC travelling by private jet. He's the direct heir to the throne and how many of the other world leaders travelled economy?

Encyclo · 22/01/2020 19:10

Valid point about Charles, also the Clarence House and KP instagram accounts seem to be in competition with each other today.

Is this not worth a discussion?

I am politely enquiring.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 22/01/2020 19:10

SingingLily
Or EVEN HM?

Bet Princess Anne does.
I would if I was a member of the RF, just to see how measured he is in his language and terminology and to get a feel for what kind of man he is.

I was her bodyguard for one day.
Really? How did that come about for just one day? Was it interesting?

Butterymuffin · 22/01/2020 19:11

@FlickingVees I think in the moment it was a witty comment - it's the idea of planning to keep using it indefinitely that I was uncomfortable with.

I didn't know Charles had flown by private jet, and now I do I have no problem saying that was crappy on his part.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 19:11

This link @TheMustressMhor ?

Here’s the petition.
www.taxpayer.com/media/No-Taxpayers-Money-For-Meghan-and-Harry.html

I’ve signed it using a Toronto postcode; just for fun!

Unfortunately you can’t see the number of signatures on this link.

So his hipocrisy is allowed. Right, got it. Different rules for different people.

FlickingVees · 22/01/2020 19:13

I’m still rooting for Chelsey for bride number 2, Mhor. Though understand completely if she’s adverse until PH sets himself up as a private citizen in Botswana, or Lesotho.

I think it would really be going a bit far for him to actually marry a woman old enough to be his mother... much as he seems to need one. I think MM fills that role a bit (in his head).

Prince Charles Arrived in a fully electric car at Davos.

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

Why yes. Yes it does. How on earth did you guess? 😆

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 19:14

Of course, The Sculptress! Another good book and the character Pauline played was very complex.
Anyway, yep, hubby is back and Meghan can't do what she wants for a while anyway!
She'll be back though I'm sure.
There are goods to sell and people to see!

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 19:16

So his hipocrisy is allowed. Right, got it. Different rules for different people.

Not really. How many private jets has he taken recently?

FlickingVees · 22/01/2020 19:17

Thanks buttery!

I have a feeling they’ll be doing a family centrefold spread soon enough... talking about what victims they are, and how surviving isn’t enough.
OMG...

You know I’d love to do all the tours PrincessAnne does. Looking at slurry spreading and prisoners is fascinating... isn’t it?!!!
Maybe she’ll pay a visit to Canada’s most famous guests? They fit the bill.

AcrossthePond55 · 22/01/2020 19:17

@TheMustressMhor.

I'm a teensy bit, um how do I say this, old for PH. But if he doesn't mind, I don't mind!!

MurrayTheMonk · 22/01/2020 19:19

Yep-it's not very great of him to travel by private jet. He's in no position to lecture anyone on climate change in that case.

With re the Insta accounts-both of them referencing events that have happened today, involving working royals, talking about stuff they have done today and ongoing projects. As opposed to a non working (anymore) royal doing something that happened two weeks ago for no real discernible reason.

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 19:19

Plus, I wonder if it is a security issue. Davos isn't a large place, could a private plane land on a smaller runway closer?

If it's well publicised he's attending and the dates are easy to find out, as would be routes, it would be easy for a would be terrorist to find out which commercial plane he would be on

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 19:20

Harry’s Spencer cousins were brought up in South Africa and William has friends in Kenya.
I see Harry becoming a recluse and living in Africa if it doesn’t work out with Meghan.

Much as I dislike Meghan’s behaviour, I would feel sad for Harry to “lose” (in the sense split up from) the next most significant woman in his life.
However, having known that personality Type, they do not have staying power.

MarySidney · 22/01/2020 19:21

Is anyone else seeing ads for Feliway now, with all this cat talk?

I can't get too worked up about Charles's use of a private jet. He's probably on a tight schedule, with other engagements he needs to get back for, and he has been practising sustainability for years. Greta's yacht trip across the Atlantic was ultimately nothing more than a publicity stunt; by the time the various crews had flown back and forth.

I did the DoC's survey. Didn't write anything in the box at the end because I was on a train and couldn't get my thoughts together. If I had, it would have been something to the effect that small children need to be told 'no' at times.

Cuttingthegrass · 22/01/2020 19:24

throughout all this I think HMQ has been so strong ...even if advised by family or advisors

Encyclo · 22/01/2020 19:26

With re the Insta accounts-both of them referencing events that have happened today, involving working royals, talking about stuff they have done today and ongoing projects.

I thought there was an unwritten rule that senior royals went out of their way to avoid stealing each other's thunder regarding their projects. I read that on the previous thread.

Charles apparently finds first class travel very uncomfortable and prefers a private jet. He's a first class hypocrite on climate change.

colouringinpro · 22/01/2020 19:28

Still can't decide between White House farm which I've been following, or Mr Markle, which I suspect as other pps have said won't actually be anything new/unpredictable...

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 19:31

@OVienna I saw your post on the last thread, I am fascinated by Tsarist Russia, and really wish things worked out differently... I’m also enchanted by the bling - Faberge and everything.
One of my favourite films is The Barber of Siberia, taking place at that time. Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 19:32

It's an important summit, I can live with PC getting to it by private jet this time. He has demonstrated his commitment to the environment through positive action for many years, this isn't just talk for him.

I'll be watching the TM interview with interest although my expectations are not high. I suspect his appearances in the media are driven by a pressing need to pay medical bills, rather than the desire to get his feelings off his chest.
