I hope I've got what everyone wants in the title of this, the twelfth thread in the series.

So in conclusion - he is angry at the end, but I can see why. And if I were MM and I were marrying for love and I had given speeches about what an incredible father I had and put very loving messages about him on Father’s Day for the world to see - she was still slightly famous, it wasn’t just her BFF seeing it - if Harry said to me “sack him off, I can’t believe he did that”, I would say “he made a mistake, he’s my father, we need to help”.

Piers Morgan you can ghost; good idea. Your father, who has been apparently so inspirational to you in your feminism and your own attitude to being mixed race - you would surely only can him completely if you were worried he might fuck up your chances of getting hitched or being embarrassing.

And he might have been embarrassing. But the shallowness and the never even sending a card? I can see why he’s angry. He is no saint. But he has been completely screwed over by everyone.

And sure parents should pay for their kids if they are able, but I hope my DD doesn’t just give me the finger if I show myself to be less than perfect in the future. She was very wealthy. And counting how much she gave him when I doubt he ever counted what he gave her before is not kind.

But I don’t like her. So I am biased. I just wasn’t expecting to think he was anything other than a gross, thick drunk. And now I think he was chucked in the shredder like the rest of her past.

Well if the timing is correct about the lottery win; it looks like Meghan learnt to follow the money at a very young age.

I don’t know, taking a step back from it all, both Harry and Meghan are youngest children, divorced parents, spoilt, sensitive, headstrong.

At the moment they are still in the limerance/ initial love stage.
Long distance relationships extend that sense of excitement before you have to settle down to the humdrum.

I bet there’s a lot of tears (Meghan) and swearing (Harry) on Vancouver Island right now.

The best thing they could do is take their own advice and keep silent.
Even better, Meghan should fly down to Mexico and see her Dad.

I think NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite deserves a standing ovation for compiling that program synopsis!

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

Thank you for the 'gist'.

I think the jury's still out for me, but I'm a big more disposed to give him the start of a benefit of the doubt.

I think he's well and truly burned his bridges

FiveTwoFaster · 22/01/2020 22:50

I find TM to be very authentic in this documentary. Odd - the whole thing is odd - but authentic.

Completely agree.

bluebell34567 · 22/01/2020 22:51

thanks for asking TheMustressMhor, no body asks me. just trying to survive you know. ive been following with interest and sometimes pinch in with my interesting ideas Smile.
i hope everyone is well and thriving. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 22/01/2020 22:52

bit more, not 'big' more.

RozHuntleysStump · 22/01/2020 22:53

Well I’m buying what he’s selling. Not faultless but doesn’t deserve what happened.

Encyclo · 22/01/2020 22:53

Never going to happen. He just torched that bridge, while blaming her and her husband for making him do it.

But like he says, "Daddy's got to get paid"

yolofish · 22/01/2020 22:55

"sunk costs" fallacy innit?

I'm sorry that happened to you catherine you didnt deserve it and you aren't stupid. I have a friend with a very abusive husband, she's mid fifties, been with him over 30 years - she knows what she's doing but she still cant leave because she's so frightened of the consequences. It's fucked her up, and it's completely fucked her children up. She didnt deserve that either...

But I rather suspect that Harry will hang in there, for Archie and for his pride.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 22:55

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook

Eventually you get discarded. It's a bitter mercy. It truly screws you up and you end up relying on all those people you didn't listen to to put yourself back together. Eventually you emerge wiser, even better. But it leaves a mark, I tell you

I 100% agree with this. Has happened to me too, and until it does, you cannot believe that it is possible to treated this way.

Justmuddlingalong · 22/01/2020 22:55

I had a different take on the "owing Daddy" bit. He was talking about recieving payment for photos, interviews and the documentary and I took it as him saying that the RF, PW and MM all owed him, not money, but for what he felt he'd been put though, and was now thinking fuck it, I'm not shutting up and yes I will be paid for my views. Just my opinion obviously. I'm still mulling the documentary over.

JeansNTees · 22/01/2020 22:56

I think the programme could have gone into finances a bit more. According to Wikipedia, both TM and Doria went bankrupt in the mid-2000s. TM after working in Hollywood until at least 2011 with a lottery win thrown in for good measure in 1990.
MM attended private schools from the age of 2!, and that can't have been cheap, plus university and starting up in Hollywood. (Again I wonder how her siblings feel about all of this, especially the private schools, although I believe they've said that TM was generous to them after his lottery win.)
The family dynamics are certainly complex but from 1990-2011, it would seem that TM and therefore MM were well-off financially. But then TM and Doria for some reason fell upon hard times not too long after.

Froq · 22/01/2020 22:56

Apparently the washing up liquid story is a lie too. Former classmates of hers at the time said it was a class project to all write to that company and one other.

PerfPower · 22/01/2020 22:56

Noteverthingisblackandwhite

Big thank you for the summary!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/01/2020 22:58

He did come across well. The documentary didn't go the way I expected. Am pleasantly surprised.

I am wondering about the lack of PR management displayed by the RF around TM and M family in general. It comes across as a bit sloppy. Perhaps because she was a commoner? or was H just expected to deal with it himself?

It does appear like there was a disjointed approach.

Am watching The Queens worst year and Diana was so wrong for the RF.

Literally every time they rush and admit someone into the family without due diligence it goes wrong. They should have learned by now. They seemed to with Kate, but then seem to have thrown out the rules again with H

RoseAndRose · 22/01/2020 22:59

Is the letter the one the DM published excerpts from?

If so, then its contents will be thrashed out in court, and it will become evident which person/people were the more accurate here.

It happened to me too. It was a devastating two years and even though it was a long time ago, every so often I remember, and wonder how I could have survived. And more to the point I wonder how I could have been treated so terribly by someone who I had thought absolutely loved me.

Her first jobs were acting as a prostitute and as a stripper, as were many young actresses jobs, and then she was a briefcase girl.

noteverything is this actually true do you know? I dont want to google yacht girls etc. I know the briefcase girl thing is true (that's like Deal or No Deal right?) but the other allegations...
