The royal family

Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

TheMustressMhor · 21/01/2020 10:30

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

Ok. Ok. You think you've found 'friends' on the internet.

I can see why you haven't, @MaisWeee.

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 14:27

I'd better point out that sometimes my posts pop up under Lisette1940 - something went a bit awry after the Christmas name change

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 14:27

I wasn't aware of pet postings in other threads so I didn't know it was a 'thing'. I tend to mainly lurk on MN and haven't taken part in many long running threads

Just these particular threads are a welcome escape from all the eye rolling I've had to do on FB. I shared a couple of memes that have been doing the rounds. I'm tired of biting my tongue, how can people not see?!

Anyway, back to cats, dinners, cars and guinea pigs Wink

GuytheBeagle · 22/01/2020 14:28

Any long-running thread develops it's own community feel, with in jokes, side tracks and so on. it's just what happens when you get a group of people together with a common interest.

These threads will inevitably have lulls between developments, so the chat and banter is just a bit of bonding, joking about and gentle piss taking of each other, that's all.

Eg Brexit and cat pix Elderly parents and the Cockroach Café etc.

It's not flounce-worthy, really it isn't.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:29

Ooh Lisette/Tinselette is there a glitch in the matrix?

yolofish have you got some help WRT your TV remote and BBC iPlayer?

GracefulHippo · 22/01/2020 14:30

Musters, thinking of you and keeping everything crossed it goes ok.

I have mainly been lurking, but these threads have kept me going the past week with sick DCs. At one point I was wondering if I needed to pack all three DCs into a taxi and go to A&E at 2am (temperature of DD6 years almost at 105F, not really responding to calpol) and the mixture of M&H, cooking updates and cute cats helped take my mind of things - as did the discussion on how Princess Michael really was related to the queen. Please don’t stop!

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:30

I am not being controlling!

There seems to be MustressMhor!

Froq · 22/01/2020 14:31

Imagine having the arrogance and audacity to tell people what they can and cannot talk about. Is that you Meg?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 14:32

I don't think H&M will be able to set up a rival court. They have no royal position. They can play at it maybe, but what would be the point if it's all the things that Harry found "crushing to his soul"?

Their status will last as long as it takes for people to realise they have no clout with the actual royal family. After that they will just be a slightly chavvier version of Edward and Wallis.

And that will be another Dukedom permanently tainted.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 14:33

I take back "chavvier". I can't think of another way to say what I mean, which is lacking in finesse.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:36

GracefulHippo I once had to pack four DC into the car (one was a small baby and one was a bad-tempered toddler) so that the oldest DC could be seen urgently, so I feel for you. I hope your DC are getting better now.

(When I got to the hospital there was nowhere to park so I parked in a Residents Only bay. Needless to say, I got a parking ticket. I had a long and vexatious correspondence with Islington Council about it. What did they expect me to do? 2 a.m. and a very, very sick child. She actually had meningitis and sepsis. Bloody hell, you've brought it all back to me. You have my sympathies.)

Hoe about discount DoW Wink

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 14:37

Their status will last as long as it takes for people to realise they have no clout with the actual royal family.

True with the big players which will upset MeGain's plans to be seen as a royal Michelle Obama. But with the merchandising, I don't think it will harm them. They'll be like the Kardashians, show up, have photos taken and put their name to things for sale. People in the UK won't be inspired to buy them, but for people in the US who want a bit of Princess sparkle and bling there would be a market

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 14:37

myimaginarycathasfleas, thanks for answering. I understand what you mean. I was just so puzzled by the release of dog rescue photos from SussexRoyal at the same time as the Duchess of Cambridge release this morning.

(At home on sick leave with a chest infection. I hope the poster who has poorly kids at the moment sees an improvement in them)

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:37

Oh I dunno. "Chavvier" sounds good to me, cat.

yolofish · 22/01/2020 14:38

mustress I have had 2 melanomas, one in 1986 and one in 2007. The difference in treatment is massive, these days it is so much better (radical surgery for the first, nice neat scar for the second). And one basal cell carcinoma which just involved treating with cream. So even if you have the worst, try not to worry too much (I know, easier said than done).

My proud claim to fame is to be the inventor of the Cockroach Cafe on the elderly parents thread! And as for finding friends on the internet, what on earth is wrong with that? It's nice to find a connection with people, and of course conversations ebb and flow.

I did Kate's survey, but cba to write anything constructive at the end.

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 14:40

That's every parent's nightmare MustressMhor

(Do toddlers come in other flavours other than bad tempered? Maybe I was unlucky...)

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:40

Maybe change the thread titles for future threads

Okay. We were going to anyway.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 14:41

What do you mean by 'an alternative royal court'?

notmoresheep · 22/01/2020 14:42

phpolly sorry for your loss, its never easy.

I asked my cats what they thought of the Sussexes. They couldn’t give a fuck.

speaking of catty, has anyone seen Gary Janetti’s Prince George stuff on Insta? Saw on Huff Post earlier that its being made into a TV show. And yes it includes H&M so not OT.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 14:42

Oh dear Tinselette.

You are not okay. Flowers Cake Gin

notmoresheep · 22/01/2020 14:44

they can’t set up a separate court, they’re muggles now.

Froq · 22/01/2020 14:44

Shall we have guesses on the next appearance?

I’m going for:

  1. Instagram post of a Canadian charity visit (try to get them back on side)
  1. Pap walk of the happy couple heading out for dinner.
Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 14:45

I think I meant Harry and Meghan would seek publicity for their ventures and in doing so would appear to rival the official royals such as the Cambridge's Maiswee. But I've a fever so I may be thinking nonsense.
