The royal family

Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

TheMustressMhor · 21/01/2020 10:30

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

We have three cats here. A shouter, a whinger and a squeaker, so I feel your pain, fellow cat people.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 13:34

Kate’s early years Initiative started yesterday.
Charles’ D’avis speech will be later today.
They do coordinate engagements by senior royals so that one is in the morning and one in the afternoon.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 13:36

I suspect the difference between Kate and Meghan is that Kate probably didn't read any of the tripe written, whereas I suspect Meghan scours every news source to see what's being said about her.

Sorry to harp on about this but if people want to discuss cats, could they please start a separate thread. Some of us do actually wish to discuss Meghan et al. Without a zillion silly posts about the mundanities of your non royal lives.......

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 13:36

phpolly

I am so very sorry about your cat. And SingingLily's.

They are part of the family and we mourn them deeply when they die.

And goldierocks you have a splendid cat there.

As is SunsetBoulevard's.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 22/01/2020 13:37

I tried to fill in the survey but it would not allow me to get beyond question 1!

yolofish · 22/01/2020 13:37

So sorry to hear of people's pusscats having to be PTS. It's so awful when they go, you know you're doing the right thing for them, but they do leave a hole in our lives. Having said that, if PsychoKitty doesnt stop lashing out at people, the dog, the other cats...

But she doesn't appear to have been willing to put in the time and the work. What MarySidney said. Megan is a hustler, she wants it all and she wants it quickly - which is fine in many worlds, but not the RF one.

She and Harry could really have been a force for good but they weren't prepared to play it the right way. Honestly, I dont think M came in for particularly more abuse than any of the other female entrants to the RF did, and in some ways less given she's only been there about two minutes.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 22/01/2020 13:38

marysidney
Totally agree with you

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 13:38

The difference being really that Kate didn't want the accompanying fame, whereas Meghan did want it.

catinb0oots · 22/01/2020 13:40

I want a cat now

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 13:40

Mais after 12 threads there’s a bit of a community forming, let it go. It happens will most ongoing threads as far as I know.

The cat updates are great tbh, and I say that as a dog person.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 13:42

@MaisWeee

I think you're in a minority there with your opinions as to what is acceptable to be posted on these threads.

We have a sense of humour which balances out the drama somewhat.

I am not going to tell people that posting about their daily lives, meals and pets is frowned upon.

If you want to start your own thread about the Sussexes (with a caveat that nothing other than the Sussexes can be posted), please go ahead.

You derailed the last thread for nearly fifty posts when you were unable to comprehend who Princess Michael of Kent is.

But so what? People were glad to enlighten you although it was jolly hard work at times

katiegoestoaldi · 22/01/2020 13:42

The food and cats is getting to be a bit much tbh

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 13:42

Meghan is used to favourable press no doubt. She wasn't prepared for the scrutiny and criticism that would come with being a member of the royal family.
Diana got it.
Camilla got it
Kate got it
Meghan got it.

Nothing different or racist about it at all. She expected to be treated like a star. She wasn't pleased to discover that her choice of hosiery could make headline news. She just wasn't prepared for it at all.

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 13:42

I think it helps to remind everyone that there are real people behind the keyboards. With real feelings.

No bad thing, in my view.

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 13:45

I think it helps to remind everyone that there are real people behind the keyboards. With real feelings.

I was too slow posting on this fast-moving thread!

I meant the fact that we share cat stories, dinner menus, and various other features of our day.

As 7Worfs so aptly pointed out, there's a community forming. Nothing wrong with that at all.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 13:45

Don't be so snippy.
Just because you keep starting the new threads doesn't mean you own them. I've never seen a thread about Brexit suddenly morphing into a discussion on guinea pigs, cycling and quinoa.
There's little point in starting a new thread since this one exists already.
The reason it took 50 posts to explain who Princess Michael was is because nobody had a fucking clue how she was related to the Queen either. And it wasn't off topic.

ScribblingMilly · 22/01/2020 13:46

I just read a post from the Mayhew animal shelter on their Facebook, and noticed that the photo of Meghan with dogs at their HQ had a credit for Sussexroyal, which must have been asked for. How is this going to work? Are media outlets going to pay to use that image with the money going to the charity - which would be great? Or is the money going to the Sussexes - less great? I hope this is one of the issues being looked at by 'the palace officials'.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/01/2020 13:46

The whole issue of having a trading subsidiary attached to a charity - it's a very common set up to allow charities to raise money through non-charitable commercial activities.

The relationship between the two entities needs to be squeaky clean and transparent though. Conflicts of interests must be identified and managed. And the tail mustn't wag the dog.

I'm not sure these two get that.

Froq · 22/01/2020 13:47

And it would be most helpful to ignore the derailers so pages won’t be filled with back and forth attempts to justify these threads. They all get bored and go away to click into another thread they don’t want anything to do with.

Back on point...

The Canadian petition refusing to pay for H&M security has reached 80,000.

Muggins UK will be left with it then.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 13:49

We have, on the whole, developed a kind of support system on these threads.

In actual fact, the SCOLDS who appear every now and then to tell us that we are nasty girls for lambasting MM and that our posts are full of vitriol and should be deleted, can see that we are a humorous crew on the whole, with real lives and real aspirations.

I have just been to a hospital appointment WRT possible skin cancer, by the way. I was not going to mention it but I feel that I have made friends on this thread, who will be concerned.

Community spirit and support suggests that we are all human.

I am all for it.

katiegoestoaldi I know that you're not interested in the menus and cats and dogs.

Scroll on by, is my advice. We still have a good deal to say about Meghan and Harry which must be of interest to you?

OP posts:
SingingLily · 22/01/2020 13:49

Muggins UK will be left with it then.

It's up to the Met and they are already reviewing PA's protection arrangements. My betting is that H&M's are already on the table.

Lisette1940 · 22/01/2020 13:50

Actually Maiswee there are cats all over the Westminsterender threads (run by RedToothBrush) on Brexit.

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 13:52

Good catch, @ScribblingMilly
Do we have any copyright legal eagles to explain more?

Btw I’m on mat leave with very little human interaction beyond MN, do forgive me when I waffle a bit. Wink

Lisette1940 · 22/01/2020 13:52

MustressMhor hope the tests turn out benign for you.
