Thread Nine.

How will they react to this?

No royal tours, no world media coverage for free. Now they have to graft to get media attention on that level. Their global brand will collapse without commonwealth tours and such.

I agree. There'll be no royal images to build their brand on. No pics of Archie with the Queen or with his Cambridge cousins. Harry won't be present with everyone else at the VE Day events this year. The most recent royal event at which they were present was last year's Trooping the Colour. They can't keep recycling that and their wedding pics.

Trooping of the Colour etc which Harry visibly found boring.

Tough titties. The men and women and horses who take part drill and rehearse for hours. The least anyone else can do is pay attention for an hour or so. As a former serving soldier, he should know better than to show such disrespect.

Everyone has some aspect of their job they find boring. You just get on with it.

@The80sweregreat - She might need the money after all. You all think she will be nothing without your taxes. I am sure she will be fine in H&M, 2 bed flat and Archie.

Froq · 18/01/2020 19:19

They can’t use sussexroyal as they’re no longer representing the RF, surely?

JulietJanuary · 18/01/2020 19:19

Can the good people of Sussex demand their county name back?😁

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 19:19

Indeed @ElloBrian Grin

mamansnet · 18/01/2020 19:19

One thing I've never understood is how this works in relation to parents refusing titles for their children (like Edward/Sophie).

Their son does have a title, no? Viscount Severn. Don't know why not prince and princess Louise though.

I think losing/not using the HRH is the right decision (wrt to MM anyway - Harry's is his birthright) but I suspect that they'll continue using Sussex, unfortunately. Fergie has done.

Glad to see the back of MM and I'll be glad when Harry comes to his senses in a couple of years and returns to the UK. FWIW I think the Palace won and they're leaving the door open for him, sensing that it's going to go tits up. And I think the public might forgive him. MM will definitely not be ok if that happens!

SingingLily · 18/01/2020 19:20

They don’t have HRH but haven’t lost their places in the line of succession. The two aren’t connected

Sorry, should have been clearer.

I didn't mean the succession. I meant the order of precedence. An HRH has precedence in any procession, being seated at any dinner (top table), being ushered through first in any diplomatic setting. All the diplomatic niceties go first to an HRH. After that, the rest.

SpaghettiSharon · 18/01/2020 19:20

@SingingLily no one should have to bow or curtsy to any of the RF - or anyone for that matter.

Bowing assumes we are lesser beings and we truly aren’t. I can’t think of many famous families that are less deserving of the bowing and scraping than this shower tbh Hmm.

Lunde · 18/01/2020 19:21

Hang on a minute!!! The updated Sussex Royal site says

"In line with the statement by Her Majesty The Queen, information on the roles and work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be updated on this website in due course. We appreciate your patience and invite you to explore the site to see the current works of Their Royal Highnesses"

I though they were no longer using HRH - so why are they still using them on their website??

TheMustressMhor · 18/01/2020 19:21

Everyone needs to be careful not to let this thread be derailed and deleted.

Scroll on by if necessary.

MarySidney - No pics of Archie with the Queen or with his Cambridge cousins

Do you seriously believe the Queen will treat Archie any different to all her grandchildren them or just wishing?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 19:21

The Good People of Sussex asked for it back months ago @JulietJanuary.

MrsBrentford · 18/01/2020 19:22

Hmm how does this work for the Invictus games?

Apparently they struggle to finance it as it is Confused

notmoresheep · 18/01/2020 19:22

ok not lose, lose the use of. said I’m not OK.

Guacamole · 18/01/2020 19:22

You see I think no one has one here, but Harry and Archie have been protected to some extent. Still waiting for clarification on the HRH. But I think what they’ve done is try to give Harry a way back in one day.

SingingLily · 18/01/2020 19:22

What makes you think I think people should bow or curtsey, SpaghettiSharon?

I was comment on correct protocol, not expressing an opinion.

SingingLily · 18/01/2020 19:24

Lunde, the changes don't take place until "Spring 2020" so until then, they are still HRH.

TheMustressMhor · 18/01/2020 19:24

SingingLily is correct with regard to protocol.

I read that Andrew is going to lose his security, wonder if the same will happen for Harry. I also wonder if they will be allowed by the queen to continue to use royal on their website and also to trademark items. www.royal.uk/use-royal-arms
Interesting that they are losing public money but doesn't mention anything about Charles funding them.

colouringinpro · 18/01/2020 19:25

Interesting programme on the RF on Ch4 now. Focus on Charles

SingingLily · 18/01/2020 19:25

Thank you, Mustress.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 19:25

If they still have HRH, then technically, can they still use it in their correspondence or on 'Statement' (About) pages online?

TheMustressMhor · 18/01/2020 19:26

BP not yet commenting on the subject of Harry and Meghan's security arrangements.

That still needs to be clarified.

maidenover · 18/01/2020 19:26

Yeah that Meghan is a right one I’ve heard she spends all her spare time on the internet slagging off people she doesn’t know on the basis of rumours and speculation, she doesn’t even do it using her own name, it’s all anonymous Shock

Weedsnseeds1 · 18/01/2020 19:27

I wonder if funding until the spring would equate to £2.4M ish?
