climate justice for girls. where did they find this from?

CathyorClaire · 19/01/2020 12:06

Having Andrew gurning away at church next to her is another of her maj's two fingers to public opinion. No different to setting up the pap opportunity horse riding at Windsor in the days after his interview.

The man has questions to answer and seemingly no inclination to do so.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 12:07

It occurs to me that Meghan has probably sold Canada to Harry during that six weeks off. Amazing house in a beautiful scenic location. Great walks, privacy etc. He loves nature and probably thought ‘this is so much better than living in Windsor in a goldfish bowl’.
Only now it appears that she wants to live in Toronto. So if they live there they’ll be in a busy city surrounded by her friends. She’ll be busy touting for work. He’ll be at home with the nanny all day.
Of course this is just what the media are saying , but if true he could end up very isolated and bored. He’s not even going to be a house husband if they have a full time nanny .

extrastrongnosugar · 19/01/2020 12:08

@singinglily
I'd say the RF is doing fine.
The complete lack of empathy for Meghan vs the overflowing of empathy for the RF is a bit weird.

I promise you all: they will be fine.

You can show your humanity now for the rest of the concerned.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 19/01/2020 12:11

I agree - i think we will see more of Beatrice and Eugenie

Indeed and let's see how they're treated by the press. I predict a honeymoon period - just like with other female royals, then gradual ripping down before they end up not being able to put right. Then if they keep their heads down and ignore they'll become beloved. If not they'll be disliked and never a good word will be written about them, again, just like every other female royal. How will this be explained when there's no "racism" to pin it on I wonder?

I like them. I'd like to see more of them.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 19/01/2020 12:11

I'm no fan of Andrew but he hasn't actually been charged or convicted of any crime. There are no doubt questions to answer of course. He's stepped down from his Royal position. I can't actually see that accompanying his elderly mother to church is a bad thing to do.

Agree.

CathyorClaire · 19/01/2020 12:12

Anyone else suspect that the payment for Frogmore (if it's ever made) and any rent that's ever collected will somehow find its way back to their pocket via royal accountancy magic?

SingingLily · 19/01/2020 12:13

Please don't @ me, Extrastrongnosugar. I'm already on the thread.

Thank you.

extrastrongnosugar · 19/01/2020 12:15

here we go: they're not allowed to look for work now as well or what? so, you'd like to pay for their stuff then? can't have it both ways

MarySidney · 19/01/2020 12:18

a guy. that loves his wife. and has a cute kid.

I'd say that's a lot and he obvs thinks the same.
good luck to them.

extrastrongnosugar You were talking about power and agency, not cute kids. Harry's power and agency was derived from his royal status. Without his royal status, what power and agency does he have? What skills, what experience, what influence, that will be of use in this new independent life?

extrastrongnosugar · 19/01/2020 12:20

marysidney:
It's his decision, his problem.

I can imagine he's actually really eager to find out, I'd also think he has sick fundraising and event planning skill plus crazy discipline being ex army.

Butterymuffin · 19/01/2020 12:21

Classic error of falling for the place you go on holiday to and thinking it'd be the same if you lived there permanently. No one gets to be on holiday all the time, even the Royals or celebrities.

rockingchaircandle · 19/01/2020 12:23

Andrew has done way worse than Harry and Meghan! (He's been protected obviously, but has so much to answer for).

TheYearOfTheDog · 19/01/2020 12:23

Proper order. Putting the Queen over a barrel!!

Has anybody heard about the diary Meghan is keeping? The royals are all in it, stuff that isn't common knowledge, how the staff treated her. All the dirt. And she journalled it all.

DeeZastris · 19/01/2020 12:24

She’s written a diary? Big deal.

TheYearOfTheDog · 19/01/2020 12:27

Well, if there's nothing that wasn't revealed in front of her that they wouldn't want her to put in her book, then yes, it's no big deal.

But I"ll eat my hat if there's no book. Give it five years.

But apparently, allegedly, it was the start of the RF's froideur towards MM

MarySidney · 19/01/2020 12:28

he has sick fundraising and event planning skill plus crazy discipline being ex army.

"sick"???Hmm

He would have staff doing the event planning, not him personally. And not much left of the Army discipline, given that he recently dumped an important engagement with the Royal Marines to attend a celebrity event.

SingingLily · 19/01/2020 12:29

I've just watched the Favreau video.

That's two "pitches" in what, less than ten minutes? And the telling line, "That's what we are here for, to pitch".

Harry, Captain General of the Royal Marines, ditched the RM Deal Concert to commemorate the deaths of so many thirty years ago for this?

Does anyone believe that there is a single Royal Marine based anywhere in the world who does not know about this now? And doesn't have a, ahem, fairly strong view of it?

It's this kind of behaviour that would explain why HMQ says the new arrangement will be reviewed in a year's time and why she hasn't actually stripped them of their HRH titles, just made it clear they won't be using them.

They're on probation. With conditions.

extrastrongnosugar · 19/01/2020 12:30

mary, as I said: it's his problem. he's a grown man with a family. let him do him, you're not his mother. (and even then)

SerenDippitty · 19/01/2020 12:30

Yes, if true he will be a complete fish out of water.

SirChing · 19/01/2020 12:31

There were at least two overtly racist newspaper headlines about her when it was first announced that they were dating

The press were never, ever “nice” about her. They were vicious towards her from literally day one

I totally agree with you about that. And some of the people who dislike MM will be knuckle dragging racists, or xenophobic because she is from the US or whatever.

But, there are others who feel that they liked her at first, but that the way she has behaved since the Africa tour has been really unedifying. Both H & M have gone about this whole "leaving the Firm" business appallingly.

Touting for voiceover roles whilst missing military engagements doesn't cover Harry with glory, but it is something he obviously wouldn't have done prior to MM being on the scene.

MM standing in Africa having visited people in dreadful hardship then bleating that no-one asked her if she was ok, was self indulgent and tone deaf.

Immediately doing charity work in Canada when H & M have said they want to step back from the public eye is also time deaf.

I do think that SOME of the difference in behaviour is a difference in cultural norms between the US and the UK. But then, if you marry into the RF, you are marrying into 1000 years of tradition - you can't expect them to change for you.

Also, legging it from the country so soon after marriage instead of waiting for the media to calm down, is not giving things a fair chance.

So sure, some awful racism at the start, but many of us dislike the behaviour of both of them since, for reasons which are nothing to do with race.

catinb0oots · 19/01/2020 12:32

Its like when Lennon got married to Yoko Ono and the Beatles fell apart*

I saw someone on another site call Meghan Woko Ono Grin

extrastrongnosugar · 19/01/2020 12:32

I wonder if british people really think of the Royal Family as their pets in a way.
that would explain a lot.

TheMustressMhor · 19/01/2020 12:36

extrastrongnosugar - I am not entirely sure what it is you are accusing me of.

Not having empathy? Not having empathy for someone who ticks lots of the boxes in the PCL-R?

Oh, right.

SingingLily if you have eight hours to spare and wish to travel into the interior of Scotland, you can come and share home-made food chez Mhor whenever you like.
