@TwentyViginti because you’re not a scold.
@extrastrongnosugar that’s a very good question. Can’t speak for anyone else but even if you dislike the idea of our constitutional monarchy, HMQ is imbued with duty, service, the responsibility to the institution which has stood for 1000 years, she is all about country before self. Through her own dedication to a position she was not born to hold she is respected and stands as a symbol of unity across every part of society. PH was an important part of that, now he’s not. That’s his choice and as a 35 year old man that’s fine, who wants their adult DC living at home and relying on handouts? The way they went public is appalling and disrespectful, again, his choice but you can’t expect people to salute him for it.
MM OTOH, doesn’t give a crap about any of that. She may have cleverly tapped into the progressive notions of the Insta generation (who quickly ping likes at the illusion without giving too much thought to substance), but she doesn’t stand up to scrutiny, her behaviour is self-serving, attention seeking and shockingly frivolous and expensive (how much for a baby shower!). The cries of ‘whatever makes them happy’ might be fine for those who consider the constantly shifting, shallow wants of the individual above all else and even see it as some kind of moral high ground. These are the type of perpetually dissatisfied people who get what they want then realise they no longer want it or only want more so ultimately struggle to be happy. All evidence shows MM lacks the capacity to sustain long term relationships/friendships/family bonds but doesn’t appear to lack agency.
I’ll get back to the pithy one liners now.
