@Parker231

Some of you are disgusting
Nah. We're just discussing. Smile

You don't have to be involved in our discussion though. If you don't like it you can always move on to another thread.

SerenDippitty · 19/01/2020 10:37

It's sad they just want more money when they are both already wealthy then go to different charities and pretend to care if they are ok and thriving , then bill them for the privilege.

The fact is that, is that while the money they have would set any normal person up for life, they are not wealthy by the standards of the people they aspire to move amongst, most of whom will be worth hundreds of millions. Not even the subsidy from Charles is going to put them into that bracket.

SpamandSparkle · 19/01/2020 10:38

Wondering - can they do a collab with Fergie on her range of 'right Royal Juicers' ??

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 19/01/2020 10:38

I don’t care what they do so long as it doesn’t embarrass the country or the RF
I agree wholeheartedly. Just wish they weren't waiting until the spring.

SpanishLady · 19/01/2020 10:41

I think this generally is a great outcome for a family within an institution - very tricky and unique thing.

I think the proof will be in the pudding - if they go off and support their charities etc it will be great both for the causes they support and then as a family

Still for me a shame how it was handled - as noted a million times, had this been part of a combined and joined up strategy we would have all wished them well as the monarchy slims down and prepares for the next monarch - a core family with less tabloid stories and stoic duty helping the UK adjust to a new era post Brexit etc. New year, new approach, new broom coming in.

It shouldn't have been Harry and Meghan steering this boat - they should just be getting in deciding what their new life looks like and leaving all that announcement stuff to the palace. This would Also have given people like her sister nothing to say.

But it was what it was. I hope Harry gets to leave soon and they quietly get on with a hopefully long and happy new life together. I hope Meghan and Archie do visit the UK and take part in private family life - I think it will be quite telling if she doesn't .

If they do an interview next with Meghan blaming the RF, media or British people I really don't think I can continue to believe there has been a lot of unfair supposition as to motive and I would despair as who is making these crazy PR .decisions - but we will see!

lyralalala · 19/01/2020 10:41

Think the point is they can’t be a royal duke and Duchess so they will be addressed as Your Grace rather than Your Royal Highness. That will start to rankle with Harry PDQ; particularly when he realises that the much vaunted “real life” involving clearing up one’s own messes and paying your own bills in a new country cut off from your support network and hustling for work is not particularly easy. It will be a running sore and reminder. The HRH titles are important to them as their most recent statement on their naff website makes sure to use them. They will rinse the usage as much as possible til the end of the transition period

It’s not going to make a huge deal of difference to the celeb circles. They’ll still be the Duke and Duchess, he’s still the Prince, people are still going to be fawning over him to try and get influence on Granny the Queen or Dad the King
I think their website actually reads more as the Queen telling them that while they are on her payroll they’ll do things absolutely properly. There’s a reason the changes don’t kick in until spring and the Queen will want them to toe the line until then

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/01/2020 10:44

To be fair, the one person who could have advised them was Fergie, but Meghan stymied that with halfbuttonedcoatgate at Eugenie’s wedding.

Fergie’s had a £5 million overdraft to pay off and she did it. Unfortunately she’s not great with money and constantly got into debt.
There is however an issue with the lesser Royals being cash poor, from Andrew downwards. So it’s something the Cambridges should look at now, as they have 3 children. Realistically Charlotte and Louis will have to work, unless they want another Harry situation in a few decades.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/01/2020 10:49

Canadian security expert thinks the costs would be $10million pa

The French speaking Québécois leader says that Canada should be paying nothing and H&M should get Netflix to sponsor theIt security

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 19/01/2020 10:50

I wonder if H&M are being given until spring for the changes to take effect for a particular reason?

I wonder if PP isn't expected to live until then so it's being postponed so that PH can take his place as an official royal mourner and take part in the funeral ceremony in military uniform?

Equally HMQ may think that PH will have some weeks of living in Canada how Meghan they want to and getting used to what life will be like in the future and hoping he will find that life wanting?

giggly · 19/01/2020 10:56

Fuck sake people having just read the first and last few pages no bloody wonder their away. Bunch of grown up royal fucking expert bullies. Go and play with your families or something more productive than a mass slagging matchHmm
And don’t give me your shite about not needing to read or “we’re just discussing”

Sunshineand · 19/01/2020 10:59

Exactly ,giggly. This is horrible. Pages and pages of people gleefully hoping they'll divorce 🙄

SingingLily · 19/01/2020 11:00

or “we’re just discussing”

This is a public forum.

As long as we observe the guidelines, we are free to post whatever we want.

It's up to you whether you read it or not.

ajandjjmum · 19/01/2020 11:01

Sorry - didn't realise that you were the boss of MN giggly. We'll obviously all follow your instructions.

No-one is gleeful about a potential divorce - just that those of us with plenty of life experience can see that it's a very real possibility.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 19/01/2020 11:04

Who are these people that march onto a lengthy thread to demand people stop what they're doing, stop talking about what they want to and do and talk about what they want them to do instead? What kind of a person is that? Really baffles me.

CallmeAngelina · 19/01/2020 11:09

Finding it amusing that giggly has stopped whatever she was doing in real life in order to log on to MN, search out this thread, read some of it, and then take the time to post to tell everyone to stop posting.

ajandjjmum · 19/01/2020 11:09

You'd almost think she was being paid for it!

NumbersStation · 19/01/2020 11:10

Why don’t you go and do something more productive than posting on a site you’re not interested in?

SerenDippitty · 19/01/2020 11:13

thread, not site

MrsBrentford · 19/01/2020 11:21

Omg.

It’s now gone out today about Archies godparents (one being Tiggy Pettifer).

Leaky fucking bucket.

ajandjjmum · 19/01/2020 11:24

Tiggy's a great choice!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/01/2020 11:24

Andrew’s popped up at church with the Queen.

I do not understand this family’s logic.
Things had calmed down for precisely 18 hours.

Catrescue1971 · 19/01/2020 11:25

Now that Harry does not want royalty and Andrew has not got public approval, Princess Beatrice "looks" closer to the throne. Obviously I realise that Charles, William and the 3 children are all in line too, but it surprised me when I looked at the line of succession and realised that after William, of course, she is the next adult. I do wonder whether - well I am pretty sure really - that the rift between the brothers was caused by William knowing that in his generation, his family are pretty much on their own. They may well need Beatrice and Eugenie more.

TheMustressMhor · 19/01/2020 11:27

I love Catherine of Aragon's posts - very well written (even when just about what's she's eating!!)

From several pages ago - SpanishLady.

A good many of CatherineOfAragon's posts seem to be about what I am eating.

So - I have just had bacon, black pudding, egg and toast.

Is it too early for a glass of sherry?
