Previous thread

-Today Prince Harry is doing the draw for the Rugby League. (Not sure if it’s a public location but there’s bound to be a lot of press interest)

  • He has said he is going to stay in the UK for a bit longer to thrash out the details of “Megxit”
  • Meghan has been on a second surprise visit in Vancouver
  • Opinion coming out of Canada is that; not only do they not want to fund the Sussexes; having a member of the a Royal Family make Canada their permanent home is not acceptable.

Sorry, @The80sweregreat, bit thick this morning, I was actually agreeing with you but missed the point.

I seem to be a bit confused here ,am I the only one ? A few days ago Harry said he was stepping away from the RF ,to be in Canada with MM and DS .However he is seen today on TV working with one of his Charities !? .MM has worked on lots of Charities herself before meeting PH ,and is presumably picking up where she left off !

She is a loose cannon now.
Rather than wait to see how the land lies ( and spend time with her baby) she's off doing all this without any kind of approval from anyone! If she had waited, it would have shown a level of maturity and respect.
This comes across as something else. A bit of a two fingers to you all type of thing.

I don't know who advises them but common sense would tell me to keep my shit on the down low and hibernate for a while, hunker down, dote on my baby, maybe go stay with my mom in L.A for a spell. I would be doing as little as possible to attract the press if I were MM (or Harry). They both need to take a seat for a while and just stop courting the press.

Plus the Canadians don't seem on board with paying for any security as well ., she'll be making them feel hostile next if she isn't careful but not just waiting a while.
Or at least letting the dust settle.

Did that women's refuge on Vancouver island have any prior warning of MM's arrival? It's been made out that she just pitched up there on a whim, but when the RF visit places they are generally checked out beforehand for security reasons and made secure. You can't really do that if the person you're protecting insists on taking off and visiting places with no warning for an impromptu photo op.

I know that with most RF engagements these are known about in advance so they want to prevent the situation of someone being able to secret themselves somewhere and execute a planned attack. In the women's refuge situation you would have to have the situation of a loony with a gun being in the right place at the right time.

But the thing is, M&H are choosing to hang out in countries which have much more relaxed gun laws than the UK. And if you are wanting to be seen with disadvantaged people on the fringes of society you have to accept that you are going to be in close proximity to people who may have a lot of mental health issues due to their fragile life situation, may be suspicious of authority and particularly any security and could quite easily feel they need to carry a knife or a gun.

Just sayin'

Well it's pleasing the #Sussexsquad on SM anyway. What a trooper she is to put aside her personal issues and brave the public eye for the good of these charities. She's a modern day Saint.

Does anyone else think it was really cheeky of them to ask to live at Windsor Castle?

I do. And good on HMQ for saying no.

I bet Frogmore Cottage is lovely inside, I've known lots of properties that are very unprepossessing from the exterior but once through the front door are absolutely stunning.

Not keen on the name though. Named apparently because it's practically in a swamp there are lots of frogs. Lovely Confused

This rogue tour is bizarre. I'm cynical enough to believe it was timed to coincide with W and K's joint engagement yesterday.

I think it must be...we've not heard anything from her the whole time they were away and then the announcement and this. I think the women's centre visit to detract from W and K and this environmental charity to detract from Harry's engagement today...which begs the question...is everything ok between them!? That strange Twitter account seemed to think not. Obviously not going to believe everything that says but seems a lot of people think something is going on.

I wonder if she even told Harry what she was planning.

I can't see that he would be happy...it will be making his job here negotiating for them so much more difficult. I did wonder when the announcement came out originally whether H actually knew it was going to happen right then and I'm starting to think more and more that he might not have. It just seems like a crazy thing for him to do, knowing just how much goes on behind the scenes and how much diplomacy is involved. Would explain why she just rushed back to Canada too. I can definitely imagine M being so frustrated by all the stalling and planning for discussions that she just decided to pull the plug.

Fallen , exactly!
It's horrible dragging up Diana but we all know what happened there and a lot was because the security they had wasn't as good as she had been provided with at other times.
Meghan could become a target ; nowhere is 100 percent safe. Plus the gun laws are different over there as you say.
Let's hope it's all alright but it's still a headache for someone keeping her safe.
She is still a royal as it stands as well.
I thought she would keep her head down and enjoy the peace and quiet to get used to her new life.. seems not.

Well that's the reason she's doing it. All for the optics

W and K were highlighting some really good projects yesterday. I liked that Amir Khan decided to talk up Britain too.

I don’t know bout the rest of y’all, but I’m munching popcorn and gleefully addicted to watching this human trainwreck

Yes. Isn't it wonderful watching the life of someone (who has admitted having longstanding and ongoing mental health problems after losing his mother as a child) play out in the media. Hopefully you won't miss the sarcasm.

Cremebrule I agree about Harry.

He is a grown man and and is responsible for how he interacts with his own family.

Everyone bar a few sticklers would understand stepping back from a public role. It is not for everyone.

Did that women's refuge on Vancouver island have any prior warning of MM's arrival?

Her personal assistant emailed just the day before to tell them she would visit, according to the Telegraph.

In another article in the Telegraph, Camilla Tominey quotes a palace aide who says Harry not only hates the media but spends many hours reading websites like Mail Online, including the "below the line" comments 😱

I find the BTL comments shocking and they're not even talking about me.

What is he thinking? Didn't the RF provide him with a press officer to manage all that kind of thing? And why on earth would any sensible person hand over that kind of screening responsibility to a PR firm paid by way of percentage?

Adoration of Harry is also included as part of the #Sussexsquad. Any interaction with the Cambridges is seen as 'fraternising with the enemy'.

fallen I've just had a week long very high temp illness thingy (doctor was struggling to diagnose it) and the doctor was checking me for signs of bacterial infection and was watching for sepsis. Even if it is hard to get an appointment with a GP you may be able to get advice over the phone. They won't give you antibiotics unless you need them 💐 (just concerned for you)

Sorry for derailing - very much enjoying the thread

The use of a hotmail account is just absolute madness!! Imagine the chaos any random person could cause by setting up an account and emailing a bunch of random charities claiming to be Meghan's assistant. And they'd have to assume it's her as she's known to be using a hotmail account!!!

Harry was getting on fine with his family right up to the wedding as far as I can make out. It seemed to start going a bit wrong then.
The press do have a lot to answer for of course, but I'm also suspicious of her and how she hasn't helped relations with them ; she didn't want the supportive role and be in the background.

Report
GlitchStitch · 16/01/2020 09:22

Yep, using a random hotmail account to ask to visit a women's refuge, where women are fleeing abuse. What a stupid thing to do.

Oh god. If that's who he thinks the British public are then no wonder he's so unhappy. He really needs someone to guide him really, just focus his attentions elsewhere.

Harry would do better to stay away from the loony BTL comments and check out a few of these threads. It wouldn't be any more comfortable but he would at least see some considered debate.

Meghan had devoted fans who also love Harry by association.
As I said in a previous thread, go on Celebitchy.
They WORSHIP her there. Any criticism is insulted down and called out as racist.
They've posted horrific things about the rest of the the RF, including the Queen and they particularly hate William.

For the first time ever there was a vaguely critical post on yesterday about the security funding issue, and Canada having to pay for it.
When Canadian posters started complaining about it they were accused them of being fake Canadians and actual troll accounts.

The whole thing is bizarre.
