Maybe Charles and William will both be King Phillip - injecting some "freshness" into the RF?

Or King Arthur would be great! William has no "traditional" king names.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/05/2019 12:25

Hmm. If we're worried about precedents, I'm not sure King Philip is the way to go.

catofaragon · 03/05/2019 12:27

William is a traditional king name - he'd be William V.

FunkyKingston · 03/05/2019 12:28

Maybe either being so close to the top that it's expected, or so useless at anything else that they need to do a few engagements to justify their lavishly funded lifestyles?

Seemingly being ferried around ina chauffeur drivem car to unveil a plaque to say you unveiled a plaque.

SenecaFalls · 03/05/2019 12:38

William I was the Conqueror. William II his son. William III of William and Mary fame. William IV Queen Victoria's Uncle and immediate predecessor.
There was also William the Lion, King of Scots.

Plus shaking hands of course ... don't forget the shaking of hands

Really arduous work, that Hmm

@PancakePatti all covered in thread 2 including a link to some stick men with erections demonstrating its use

That’s interesting and makes sense.

What MN/The Royal lackeys are and aren’t ok with us discussing is also fascinating.

Although I suspect it’s when we stray too close to something that might actually get published in a newspaper that we’re most in trouble. So I think the posters discussing C&C and their um antics are probably safe.

Although I need the brain bleach over here next please.

AppleKatie · 03/05/2019 13:14

😳I really must learn to refresh sorry.

I think I used the last of it when a PP mentioned a King's wig made of his mistresses pubic hair. Or it may have been a merkin.

Neither gives a nice mental picture Envy Not envy.

TooManyPaws · 03/05/2019 13:19

There were two Williams who were kings of England, one William King of Scots. William of Orange and Victoria's predecessor were Kings of both/the UK. William of Orange was offered the Scottish crown alongside Mary in a separate deal from England. The present queen is actually Elizabeth Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth of the UK of GB etc; QEII is incorrect as Elizabeth Tudor was never queen of Scotland or the UK, hence letter boxes exploding and QEII not used on them in Scotland.

Charles III has no problem as it was first used after the Union of the Crowns but William V could cause problems unless he uses IV and V, similar to how Jamie Saxt and First gets referred to 😉😃

Ain't that the truth ...

catofaragon · 03/05/2019 13:52

My understanding has always been that she is Queen Elizabeth II of the UK and the Commonwealth - the regnal number applies everywhere regardless of previous sovereigns in that country.

BishopBrennansArse · 03/05/2019 13:55

Particularly not If said mistress had crabs, @MagicKingdomDizzy

AGnu · 03/05/2019 15:14

If Charles & Wills both used Phillip as their king name would that make the people of that period the Phillipians? Would get v confusing with the Bible! Or maybe they'd be Phillippines... Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 03/05/2019 15:22
