If I remember rightly, the registrar received death threats over her handwriting (!!!)

AppleKatie · 06/05/2019 21:15

Shock people are definitely weird!

MissEliza · 06/05/2019 21:49

I remember all that fuss about the handwriting. Poor woman.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/05/2019 22:47

Princess of the United Kingdom

That is absolutely the best occupation! Is that what's on her passport?

RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 22:52

They won't let you put your occupation in your passport any more Sad

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 22:59

Royals have diplomatic passports I assume so I don’t think their occupation would ever have been included

SenecaFalls · 06/05/2019 23:42

I remember reading one of the biographies of the Queen Mother and her father's occupation was listed on her birth certificate as "peer's eldest son." How exactly is that an occupation, I remember thinking.

RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 23:51

I think those boxes on British BMD certificates do actually say "Rank or profession". Quaint, isn't it?

lyralalala · 07/05/2019 00:55

Rank also applies to some professions as well as titles on certs, especially on older ones you often get master or journeyman along with an occupation.

Amusingly my Nana’s birth certificate just has ‘Inspector’ on hers. If you didn’t know he was in the police you could think ‘wtf did he inspect?’ Grin

catofaragon · 07/05/2019 06:59

William and Kate's wedding certificate is on display in Westminster Abbey. I can't remember what it says her profession was though.

FannyWork · 07/05/2019 12:02

The profession is Princess of the United Kingdom

lyralalala · 07/05/2019 16:30

That won’t be her profession on the marriage certificate though surely? At that point it would have been whatever her last job was.

AppleKatie · 07/05/2019 16:35

If it’s on display why wouldn’t it be available to view online? I wonder what the rationale behind that is?

lyralalala · 07/05/2019 16:38

There are no photos of it online or a report of it being on a display. Just lots of reports about it ring kept secret.

It must be a very new thing that it’s on display.

SaveKevin · 07/05/2019 16:59

When I registered my first the registra told me I could put any occupation I wanted. Fucking wish I’d put princess

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool · 07/05/2019 17:12

Apopros nothing, other than it’s royalty, I saw Prince Andrew riding a horse down the Mall today.

AppleKatie · 07/05/2019 17:45

That’s like when you take your driving test ‘and what should I call you today?’

‘Princess’. Wasted opportunity.

Seeing Prince Andrew on the mall is interesting. Was he surrounded by policeman?

MagicKingdomDizzy · 07/05/2019 17:53

Aww we got kicked out of AIBU. When did that happen?

chaosisaladder · 07/05/2019 17:53

I just watched Will and Kate’s interview.

I really wish someone would tell Kate that she’s perfectly lovely and whatever she says will be fine. She seems so nervous still, I always feel bad for her nerves when I watch her speak.

AppleKatie · 07/05/2019 17:54

Oh yes, not sure but I suppose explains why the thread has slowed down a bit over the last couple of days. That’s a shame:

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/05/2019 18:24

Surely no bad hing that it's in "the royal family" now; anything to keep the wreckers out (though I suspect they search for threads containing MM's name)

Right on cue the Deletion Queen even turned up on a thread following the birth - and promptly got deleted

Alsohuman · 07/05/2019 18:30

Just seen Kate and William’s interview. I do wish she’d crack a smile every now and then, she’s getting as bad as Posh.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 07/05/2019 18:39

Neither Kate nor William are comfortable speakers, particularly when asked to do so spontaneously. I don't find Kate plummy so much as nervous and therefore a bit muttery. William is trying hard to say the right thing and it holds him back.

I'm sure they'll gain confidence as they get older. By the time William is King he'll be well past caring what people think of what he has to say.

beanaseireann · 07/05/2019 18:40

Kate was so plummy in that interview with William re their new nephew, I couldn't make out what she was saying Blush

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool · 07/05/2019 18:40

He was riding in a column of about 10 guardsmen, them all 2 abreast, then Andrew at the back and maybe two behind him? I wondered if it was some trooping the colour rehearsal but seemingly not and google didn’t help.
