Just caught up.

Boy. Meh.

Really wasn't worth the build up.

Haworthia · 06/05/2019 17:10

Just watched Harry announce the birth and, I have to say, was surprisingly heartwarmed by how clearly delighted he is, and how smiley and warm he was to the reporters. When Wills interacts with the media it always seems like he can barely get away quick enough.

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 17:13

I’ll eat my hat if Spencer, Markle or Ragland are anywhere near the name!

Me too.

Mostly the royals don't do surnames as middle names. Also because of those only Spencer could be seen as a first name so a possible one, but there just seems no real closeness with the Spencers really.

None of the young Spencers were involved in the wedding despite there being the Earl's two younger daughters at ideal ages for William's wedding then Harry's respectively. Plus Diana's two sisters have grandchildren and despite the reported closeness with their cousins none of them were included either.

It would be too controversial a choice when they don't have that closeness. Different giving a girl Diana's names as middle names, but using Spencer wouldn't happen I don't think.

Ok this is really random I know, but I noticed it and it's the kind of random stuff that's been on these threads!

"The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

This must be the order that they spoke to people in. The royals are in rank order, as expected, but the Spencers are neither in rank order or age order.

In rank/title order they'd be Earl Spencer, Lady Sarah and then Lady Jane. Age wise it would be Lady Sarah, Lady Jane, then Earl Spencer.

Admittedly, I do need to get out more rather than noticing petty details in things!

Just hoping the ghastly Samantha and her father manage to zip it - or at least find a way of behaving with some sort of dignity

I think there's more chance of Harry informing the Queen of the name they'd like to use and her issuing letters patent to allow their son Dweezil-River-Moon Unit-Spencer to be HRH Prince Dweezil-River-Moon Unit-Spencer than Samantha staying silent on this one

SevenSeasofRye · 06/05/2019 17:35

It was actually incredibly touching to see how excited and happy Harry is. Good luck to them all.
It’s a nice touch that Diana’s family were included in the announcement. Harry is close to his
Cousins according to reports too.

Talking about the birth of a new royal baby must be like being a QVC presenter. You just need to keep the gushing going no matter how long it takes and keep thinking of chirpy new ways to present the same few facts. Must be exhausting!

It really must.

I only came in and put the news on five minutes ago, and I'm bored already! Smile

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 17:44

Not all news presenters can be as blunt as Simon McCoy when it comes to discussing royal babies.

I love Simon Grin

noodlenosefraggle · 06/05/2019 17:50

I always feel sorry for Nick Witchell when he's doing vRoyal stories. You can almost see him thinking 'I used to report from war zones. How did it come to this?'

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 06/05/2019 17:52

“Meghan and MYSELF...” - I almost cried at thay. “Meghan and I...” surely. Envy

Laiste · 06/05/2019 17:52

I'd love to see him announce the birth!

''Er .... some news coming in .... baby's been born .... the pregnant DofS has had a baby .... yes. Well. There you go.''

Grin
RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 17:52

I wonder where Simon McCoy is actually? I haven't seen him for a few days. Probably been sent on special assignment to the Arctic circle for a fortnight Grin

RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 17:56

Nicholas Witchell sounding really quite pissed off, commenting on the delays in announcing and misinformation, on BBC at the moment. Poor man.

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 17:57

I bet that's the second thing the BBC do when a royal birth is going to happen.

Step 1 - Remind all presenters of proper title usage about royals
Step 2 - Book Simon McCoy a holiday

RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 17:59

Just thinking about Birth & Marriage certificates.

Does anyone know what Kate Middleton have as her occupation for her marriage registration? Presumably MM put "Actress".

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/05/2019 20:29

Presumably MM put "Actress".

Doubt it. Her professional acting career was a thing of the past by the time she and Harry married.

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 20:30

William and Kate's marriage certificate has never been released.

Royals are exempt from the requirement that birth, death and marriage certificates are public documents that can be bought or accessed by anyone.

Many of them have been released - that's how we know the multitude of witnesses on the Queen's for example - but William and Kate's never has.

It'll probably be whatever her last job title was working for her parents or jigsaw

AppleKatie · 06/05/2019 20:36

Presumbly she put ‘retired’?

I read somewhere earlier that she is a ‘retired actress’. Made me 😃

RubberTreePlant · 06/05/2019 20:37

William and Kate's marriage certificate has never been released.

Interesting.

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 20:45

To be fair to them it’s not the only one that’s never been released.

The Queen’s has, Charles and Diana’s has and Charles and Camilla’s has.

AppleKatie · 06/05/2019 21:04

The Cambridge children’s birth certificates are all easily viewable with a quick google.

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 21:11

There was a bit of a fuss over George's when it was realeased I recall. Firstly apparently the registrar didn't have nice enough handwritings and then that Kate's occupation was listed as Princess of the United Kingdom.
