Phew, finally!

TooManyPaws · 06/05/2019 14:44

It's a boy; both doing well. Announced on BBC news.

Sybelline · 06/05/2019 14:44

Are you reporting from the delivery suite? Grin

I assumed they'd have a girl for some reason.

Itsnotmesothere · 06/05/2019 14:45

I wager the new baby will be named Thomas.

chaosisaladder · 06/05/2019 14:46

HA!

Itsnotmesothere · 06/05/2019 14:47

@Baking. How do you know this? My trusted source has not updated its headline yet!

Sybelline · 06/05/2019 14:48

It's all over Twitter

Aw lovely! At last! 🤣

chaosisaladder · 06/05/2019 14:54

Harry is lovely. I appreciate how much he’s publicly appreciating how amazing women are

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 14:58

But the press knew what it said and still decided to suggest that we'd only know after the birth when the couple decided to allow it. They could have easily commented that labour would be announced but didn't.

Exactly. It was out there. The media bods who weren't stoking the "they're going to HIDE the baby" fire spoke about both parts of it. The ones enjoying the headlines didn't. Funny that. Almost like "All the usual stuff will be done except naming the hospital" is a non story!

Did anyone see the Channel 4 documentary last night about George VI and his involvement in the D-day disinformation scheme? It also seems that the Queen is pretty tight in with the secret services which makes PW's work experience with them more relevant. Pretty obviously, the secret services weren't originally trusting of the RF after Edward VIII.

I did. It was really interesting.

And has sparked my DC's royal obsession again which is great! (The obsession for the last year has been the Beatles and we're all heartily sick of the Beatles!!)

bakingisnotforwimps · 06/05/2019 14:58

Not in the delivery suite, but was sad enough to have the notifications set for their Instagram page Blush

Just watched Harry's interview, he looks absolutely delighted Smile

TooManyPaws · 06/05/2019 15:00

Oh, good grief. My Google page has the Australian rag New Idea announcing that both Beatrice and Eugenie are pregnant and both due on 1 December. 🤔🤨🙄

Itsnotmesothere · 06/05/2019 15:00

@Baking. You're a loyal subject Wink

Itsnotmesothere · 06/05/2019 15:01

Serious name guesses apart from Thomas?

chaosisaladder · 06/05/2019 15:06

James I reckon

lyralalala · 06/05/2019 15:09

James is Viscount Severn's name so I think that's too close.

There's some fun suggestions on the name thread in the royal section.

I think maybe Albert. Old fashioned names are popular. It's got strong royal history and the Queen would love it being named after her father. I don't think at all they'll go too wacky as the baby will be a Prince when Charles is King.

Sybelline · 06/05/2019 15:11

The whole penis piercing element of Prince Albert would put me off that name. If I were in any way involved with the name selection!

allworthwhile · 06/05/2019 15:12

Definitely not Albert! Grin

I think that her friend who instagrammed pink photos of the baby shower with the hashtag "Girl" leaves an odd taste in the mouth - far classier to say nothing than to try to deceive the public on purpose? Hmm

bakingisnotforwimps · 06/05/2019 15:12

I think Harry/Henry would be great but not sure whether they would name the baby after his father?

Alsohuman · 06/05/2019 15:13

Baby could be a prince this afternoon if the Queen decides she wants him to be.

MissEliza · 06/05/2019 15:14

I really hope the Queen doesn't decide to make the baby a prince. We need a slimmed down monarchy.

Alsohuman · 06/05/2019 15:15

He’s Royal whether or not he’s called a prince.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/05/2019 15:20

Nick Witchell is on the BBC news barely disguising his irritation that by the time the palace told the media that she had gone into labour, the baby had already been born.

noodlenosefraggle · 06/05/2019 15:21

I like Albert. Surely George VI was Albert, despite the Prince Albert thing?
