@Esgaroth
I may have missed this, but where did the gorgeous Kettle get his somewhat unusual name?

Pudmyboy think it's Karl at the front, doesn't Grumpy refer to him as the scruffy one 🤔

Nooooooo 🙀.
Lenny is the scruff. And it's definitely Basil in front.

Oops got it wrong sorry Basil!

We often have to double check who is who, even when they are sitting next to us. 🤣🤣🤣

It's really his English name - we're a bilingual family and his 'official' name is kettle in our other language. It's spelt and pronounced very similar but it is a real name more than Kettle is in English. But I think he's happy to have two versions of his name!

In real life he totally blends in and I can only tell where he is because I can see the inside of his ears. For the purposes of the photo though I have used the flash so you can see Toby Toad all snuggled up on one of my fleecy jumpers.

Basil is back at the vet. Keeps returning to the litter tray and not producing much more than a few drops of pink stained wee. Will get an update at 12ish.

Oh no, that doesn't sound good. Best wishes to Basil.

RumNotRun · 23/10/2024 11:13

Fingers crossed that Basil is ok.

TheShellBeach · 23/10/2024 11:28

Hoping to hear good news about Basil.

He's been kept in for bloods and urine samples. The good news is that his bladder is empty so he is managing to go to the loo.
Most upset that the bloods and urine tests are covered under a deal referred to as 'geriatric tests'. 😲.
He's only thirteen and a half.

TheShellBeach · 23/10/2024 11:49

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats
Will you be able to collect him later?

It's always such a worry when they're ill.

I can imagine Basil being most put out at being called a geriatric.

Yes - we should be picking him up late afternoon.

CatsonPollock · 23/10/2024 12:15

Poor Basil - hopefully it will "just" be antibiotics and a CD diet for a while to get him back on track.

KeziaOAP · 23/10/2024 19:19

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

How's Basil?

Do you ever accidentally put the jumper on with the cat inside?
A friend had a little cat who liked to nap in odd places. She was making the bed and as she shook out the duvet she saw her little cat fly across the room: she had been napping inside the cover.....both recovered well from the shock 😂

Pudmyboy · 23/10/2024 20:05

Any updates on Basil?

Breadcat24 · 23/10/2024 20:11

poor Basil

No, but I have just been like the vet in the Specsavers ad. I could see a white fluffy thing in my peripheral vision which I presumed was Fred. I called him to try to get him to come and cuddle but when I looked over it was my fleece inside out. Oooops.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/10/2024 20:46

Just back from picking Basil up 5 minutes ago. He's been sedated and had his bladder flushed - apparently full of crystals, poor thing.
We have a week's worth of drugs for him (4 types) twice a day. Hopefully this will put him on the mend. He's very 'out of it' at the moment...

Breadcat24 · 23/10/2024 20:48

Best wishes for Basil spoil him rotten

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 23/10/2024 20:53

Good luck, Basil!

Pixiedust1234 · 23/10/2024 20:54

ooof poor Basil. Sending love his way and hopefully he recovers soon ❤

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/10/2024 21:00

Thanks all.
Spaced out Basil...
