Passports, buckets and spades - the Excellent Cats go on their holidays

The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

Have a lovely holiday!

RumNotRun · 25/07/2024 13:23

It's raining and cold here. Toad keeps trying to run out the front each time I open the door, but he gets one foot on the wet floor and runs back inside again. I don't think he approves of this weather!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 25/07/2024 13:32

Thanks for the new thread Shell. I'm still on a mouse hunt. Mrs G will NOT appreciate the little sweetie popping out in the living room to say hello every five minutes.

TheShellBeach · 25/07/2024 13:55

I have been bitten and scratched on the arm while persuading a cat to get into his basket.

No prizes for guessing the culprit.

And Linney returned to the house when he heard the catnip tin being shaken, so we're on our way with both of them now.

Linney is so naughty 😉

Defiantlynot41 · 25/07/2024 14:43

I love your use of the word "persuading" Shell.

Full blown military operation in this house involving planning, subterfuge (can't let the cage be seen beforehand), gradual closing of many doors before cornering the 2.4kg terror, whilst armed with gardening gloves or log fire gauntlets, and then manoeuvring a very muscular octopus armed with vicious claws into the basket.

The chunky one is such a sweetie, every time she is picked up she thinks "oh great, cuddles" and snuggles in!

This sounds exactly like my 2!
Mini cat has to be tricked with the same subterfuge and cornered in the bathroom. My DD has a knack for getting her in the carrier so I've told her (DD) that even when she moves house next month, she's going to have to come back to wrangle the tiny monster. Meanwhile, chunky well/proportioned mama cat will follow the cat catcher every time if they come offering magic beans dreamies.

And thanks for the new thread Shell !

TheShellBeach · 25/07/2024 15:56

Well, I was amazed.
So was the vet.

Gizmo was chilled when she examined him. He didn't have to be dragged out of his basket and he let her give him the once-over and his vax booster.

He even purred.

So it was only I who received injuries on this occasion

Clearly an alternative universe opened up and a completely different Gizmo came out of the carrier 😳

Well he's gone back to hissing at us now we're all back home.

He was denied entry to the store cupboard - hissed.

He was asked very nicely to get off the sofa, where he had taken my favourite seat - hissed.

Mr SB dared to walk past him in the hall - hissed.

And in a strange turn of events, Linney hissed at Gizmo, presumably for hissing at us.

TheShellBeach · 25/07/2024 17:06

Something unfortunate has happened.

I got distracted while cooking dinner and served up partially uncooked chicken kievs.

I'd eaten a bit of mine before I realised. Mr SB had his hastily removed before he could start eating.

Someone reassure me that I'm not going to get raging food poisoning, just before we go on holiday.

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 25/07/2024 17:09

I mean, our holidays are doomed on the whole.

Last year's was delayed when Emerald was ill, then the rebooked holiday was delayed because of a landslide.

I'm going to die of food poisoning, aren't I?

Well, to refer back to the discussion on the last thread... at least you'll be a chicken-flavoured giant Dreamie 😉

Although, not sure about the garlic and cats - not recommended is it?

AnneKipankitoo · 25/07/2024 19:03

Hope you are ok@TheShellBeach

JaceLancs · 25/07/2024 21:47

We are having great fun tracking Finlay - he’s been catting about so much lately that he’s finally got to number one spot on the Tractive app lol

Just Gizmo objecting to being asked nicely to get into his carrier.

I need to leave for work in 20 minutes. Gomez has other ideas. It's not on to call in sick because I'm trapped under a cat is it? 🤣🤣

Enjoy your hols Super. Frankly 6 weeks or so with Gizmo and you deserve one 🤣🤣🤣.

Basil has today developed a mistrust of the water fountain. He has been staring at it suspiciously before slapping it. Daft cat.
