Join us as 2024 starts and our cats continue to run our lives for us.

And they are so teeny-tiny. He is "smol" as my friend says. He hissed at me earlier (I was touching his back feet and toes) and it was too cute, just like when a kitten hisses.

I'm pleased to say my foster cat is now playing happily - albeit at night when I'm not around - with lots of her toys. I got a Molly mouse for her, she's not so taken with it, but gives it the odd tap 😂 seems to prefer little balls that roll around and the ball hanging in the entrance to her play tunnel. She's also been sitting on the windowsill to look out and yesterday licked some Lickelix from the tube I held out to her. I don't mind if she doesn't want to come to talk to me, as long as she's no longer depressed 🥰

@upanddowns I'm so glad to hear that about her. I'm sure you'll gradually find she becomes more tactile with you.

Hello all. Lurker and very occasional poster reporting for duty as new cat host, as of this afternoon. Unfortunately cat tax cannot be paid at this juncture as the girls have made themselves scarce somewhere behind, under or possibly inside the furniture. I look forward to introducing them properly in the next few days.

Back story: we (self and adult DS) have acquired from a not-so-local rescue (because we liked it) two unrelated young mums. One is black-and-white, believed to be an abandoned pet, aged 2+; and one white-and black, known to have grown up outdoors, aged around 18 months. B&W is placid and friendly, W&B timid and unconfident. We are hoping they'll learn from each other the right way round! They were already friends as they had adjoining pens within a larger unit, and used to hang out together when the inner unit doors were opened to let the kittens play. Right now I'm pretty sure they're squeezed up together under the recliner (don't panic, nobody sits on it).

I'm also coming out of the closet as Allergic's DSis. So there.

I think so too, I'm in no hurry, she can take her time, I'm just glad she's happier 😊

I should point out here that Annie is the smarter, prettier, thinner sister. Then again, DBro is also smarter & better looking than me.

Am not so! Well, thinner maybe, but only because I'm taller so it's stretched differently (and neither of us are thin). We have different smarts, and prettier is (a) a matter of taste and (b) irrelevant anyway when you pass 60. You know how it is with low self-esteem - you think everyone is cleverer and better looking. In reality quite a few of them secretly admire you because they, too, undervalue themselves. Meanwhile, those who believe they ARE cleverer and better looking than you are almost certainly wrong, or at the very least, insufferable.

I've put some wet food out, but there are no takers. No doubt they're waiting for me to go to bed. Bad news for them: round about the time I go to sleep DS will be waking up. They could starve at this rate...

It was a short-lived exploration. They found the window-sill and decided it was a better hiding place. Food still untouched.
