Join us as 2024 starts and our cats continue to run our lives for us.

Someone may remember me posting last summer where I got loads of advice taking on an older rescue cat, the gorgeous Reg. He’d been kept in a dark room for 5 years by a dotty old lady before he moved in with us.

So here he is, six months later, still nervous and finding his feet (outside is still terrifying!) with the new love of his life, DS, who uses Reg as a pillow… Older cat still dislikes Reg and likes to get the odd punch in but he holds his own. Once he’s sitting somewhere safe he can’t get enough attention, and nor can he get enough of human food…

Hee hee @Puppylucky what is your baby’s name? Mines name is Eko. He’s such a lovely soul although not hugely blessed with brains. He’s quite the hunter (and annoyingly fighter too) but he loves his Mum so much and I him.

Thanks for the new thread! I'd post a photo of Agatha, but she's just a lump under my heated blanket at the moment. She doesn't like the cold. She does like climbing into bed with me at 3am and scaring me as she wriggles into position behind my knees...

@ShoutyCatSlave mine has also been under the covers today but it’s because she has an affinity for tunnelling and while she’s very good at telling what is a hand and what is a toy, under my duvet she can’t. This is a problem as I’m having blood clotting issues so multiple pounces under a duvet are not ideal. She’s settled so far for a nice nap but might leave in a bit. I bet she would love a heated blanket. Due to my eating issues I don’t emit warmth much but my radiator which is programmed to keep the water pipes unfrozen does! And velvet is basically a swiftie if Taylor swift were a large soft blanket emblazoned with a cat.

I'm hoping all 8 monkey paws stay quiet till 5.30 am at the earliest. 3.58 this morning. I assumed it was food, but no, they wanted to go out.

Here's Minouche on the leather chair I acquired last week. Her ratbag of a sister has decided it's excellent for scratching. And I don't know who peed on it, but I have a suspect. Actually, the pee is the least of my worries; it reeks of fags. White vinegar doesn't cut the mustard. I've ordered some cleaner which got good reviews.....

@SequentialAnalyst it was a relief when the temperature dropped here yesterday morning! We had a brief burst of summer on Tuesday (not brief enough for me) and it was still 29C at 9pm that night. Not fun having those two lying on me in that heat! Fortunately there was a decent bit of rain about dawn on Wednesday and it's been cool and rainified since then.

@Kittensat36 you have my sympathies! I bought new chairs late last year and had to put adhesive transparent vinyl all around them to dissuade certain purrsons from wrecking them the way they did the previous ones. Three years we had those and Phoebe had shredded the fronts so much chunks of foam were falling out!

@LostCats he's called Elton! He's also a lovely soul but not a hunter - he's an FIV cat with a minor paw deformity and as of last Tuesday considerably fewer teeth so he's safer indoors shouting at the birds from his tree - see pic
