Cystitis. He's done his "I no speak to you" act at the vet who laughed at him
Bladder soft, and he's had steroids

LostCats · 25/02/2023 13:03

Oh Ollie! I do hope he feels better soon!

@Allergictoironing v exciting for the new addition today!

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 13:04

FFS, Ollie! You'll be the death of us all. And think of your poor mama's money. More vet bills = less treats for YOU!

Rebel2 · 25/02/2023 13:09

Would you give a supplement that's past the best before date? (Not use by!)
I have found cystophan in the drawer.... which is for urine health for cats

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 13:15

Yes, I would. I'm very laid back even about use by dates. Think they probably err well on the side of caution.

Rebel2 · 25/02/2023 13:22

That's what I thought! I would take them so..
waiting for a food delivery from Amazon so I will get it in his food ASAP
He's just been for a drink from the water feature so that's good

I'm glad his bladder is soft. That's a good sign.

Rebel2 · 25/02/2023 14:31

@TheShellBeach he's basically perfectly normal except the blood. Plenty of wee too

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 16:19

Having a PJ day with the heating on and there goes Matt, on the first of his several daily falls off the radiator. The radiator is narrow, Matt is not. Sometimes he managed to style it out but not this time. If only You've Been Framed was still running I could make a fortune.

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 16:47

And off Matt comes again...
Hoping all well with Allergic.

I had one that did that, Paper.
How are you feeling today?

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 17:48

And Fat Matt has gone splat for the third time!
I'm ok, thanks, TheShellBeach. A bit wobbly, rather emotional and not very hungry (unheard of) but ok.
You lovely lot helped get me through and I'm so grateful. Sorry you're getting a hard time on the Chalet School thread - it's crazy.

Allergictoironing · 25/02/2023 18:22

Been a bit of a long day chez Allergic. Girlcat was very miffed when I stopped fussing her long enough (at different times) to make a cuppa & feed her, to read my emails, to go to the loo, to top up the washer fluid in the car, basically whinging if I did ANYTHING apart from sit next to her stroking & tickling her belly. For 3 hours.

Tobias was good on the journey home, though getting anxious a bit towards the end of the journey. Took him straight upstairs, took the front off the crate & left him. Went up a little while ago & the poor mite was hiding in the tightest space he could find between the bed and the side cabinet, and hadn't touched his food, water or litter tray.

I think I'll leave him strictly alone tonight apart from putting some wet food in later for his supper, then see how he is at breakfast time. We do need to remember that he's been living in his pen with familiar cats for 7 months now and had obviously been a stray for a while before that, so is likely to be quite scared in a new place for quite a while.

My word - it's ludicrous, isn't it? I can't believe someone is trolling that thread.

Papergirl1968 · 25/02/2023 18:40

Baby steps, Allergic. He's home and will come round.
Rise above it, TheShellBeach. It is making me long to do a complete readthrough though to fill up two months of sick leave!

Rebel2 · 25/02/2023 21:34

Ollie has had a wee with no blood! He's eaten the supplement and is tutting at paws for being filthy. Paws popped in 7hrs ago for a quick nap and is still here

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 25/02/2023 21:38

The Grumpy family 'cat attraction gene' has clearly been passed down. DS2 sent me this photo of the inside of his digs today. College cat making itself at home. (Please ignore the unmade bed (he is a student after all... 🤣).

Love College Cat, @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Yesterday, DH and I went out to go shopping and a visitor cat was in the front garden, throwing up.

He had lunched on a mouse.......................................Bleurgh. It was almost complete.

nettie434 · 26/02/2023 01:04

A lot has happened here in the past 24 hours! So glad you are home Papergirl1968. Hope Matt falling off the radiator isn't disturbing your sleep.

Also hope Tobias has a peaceful night, Allergic (and you and Girlcat too of course).

I won't wish Paws a peaceful night - he clearly doesn't need any sleep wishes - but hope you and Ollie are ok, Rebel2. Ollie is right - Paws' paws are rather grubby.

The college cat looks very splendid, Grumpy.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 26/02/2023 01:59

Thats not an unmade bed. That's a bed that has deliberately been pomfed so the resident feline can get comfy. 😁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/02/2023 06:44

Morning all,
Dreadful night's sleep due to being squashed by a surfeit of cats (all four again), plus Sybil having a hairball at 4.30 - at least she had the good manners to get off the bed to produce it. Bloody cats eh? 🤣.
Looking forward to positive updates about Ollie & Tobias today and of course best wishes for your continued recovery Paper, I still can't get the mental image of Matt noisily plummeting off radiators out of my head.

Allergictoironing · 26/02/2023 07:21

Early start this morning, wakened by Girlcat at 5.45 making the sort of yipping noises she usually reserves for neighbour cats outside the windows. Except apart from a couple of yips, I could hear this going on and on from the hallway. She then came in to my room to repeat this, then outside Tobias's room for a bit more.

I quickly checked on him & he's definitely alive and had used the tray recently, boy does he have smelly poo! He'd had a little of the wet food I'd put down for him and drunk some water. Best of all, he was in the cat igloo I'd put on the bed looking out at me very suspiciously. This is an improvement on when I put his supper in last night, as he'd found somewhere to hide & was nowhere to be seen.

Girlcat is very interested. She offered to help me look for him when he'd vanished yesterday evening (I declined) and was hovering at the door when I came out after checking on him this morning.

So far so good!

Papergirl1968 · 26/02/2023 08:29

That sounds a really positive start, Allergic.
Are you going to try spending a bit of time quietly sitting with him today, or give him a bit longer on his own?
He sounds like my Socks, who still hides about the house like a little phantom, but creeps into bed with me once it's quiet and dark.
Matt's falls from the radiator are giving me a much needed laugh, especially when he tries to pretend he totally meant to get off.
Hope Ollie continues to improve today, Rebel.
Thank you all for thinking of me - it means more than you'll ever know. You're far more than a bunch of strangers on the internet, you're my Mumsnet gang x

HouseofHolbein · 26/02/2023 09:34

Glad you are able to laugh at Matt @Papergirl1968 💕 hope it helps your healing.

Wednesday falls off my bed quite regularly. It's king size so no real reason to 🤣🤣 Gomez falls down stairs.

This is why they were fully indoor cats for so long 🤣🤣 they go out now but don't venture far 🤣🤣

Allergictoironing · 26/02/2023 09:46

Matt sounds a bit like Boycat was - he would try to turn round on the windowsill & fall off. Cue mad scrabbling sounds as he would slide down the radiator, vanish under the bed then a few moments later saunter out of the room trying to style it out. But his record was only twice in one session.

How are you feeling today anyway? Nurse Socks and entertainer Matt seem to be looking after you OK anyway - and you do know it's been proven that a cat's purr speeds up healing? Keep that heating on, wrap yourself up comfortably & remember that you may not feel very hungry but you need sustenance to heal properly. And don't forget plenty of fluids - a nice mug of hot chocolate with extra sugar will give you energy AND protein from the milk 😉

How's the lovely Ollie this morning Rebel?

Yes I will spend time in there reading, have charged the Kindle & will probably comment on the book out loud so he gets used to my voice. He's now found a good hiding place on top of towels, floor level on the bottom shelf of the big rack type thing. He's positioned himself so he has a view of the whole room, but if he shuffles back a bit he's behind where I left the carry crate so can be a) more hidden and b) out of reach (not that I'll try to touch him ofc). He can look out, I can see that he's there watching me suspiciously when I come into the room to feed, clean the tray etc. Girlcat has finally given up trying to come in with me for now.

DBro & DSil are coming round later with the introduction cage, though I haven't managed to rearrange the living room yet so it fits where I want it. But after getting things ready for Tobias over the last couple of days my back has seized solid & just bending down to clean the trays was agony, so don't think that will get put up today. Taken max painkillers so functioning OK for normal stuff, but definitely NOT up to shoving furniture around!
