There is a rat in my flat.
Neither cat has caught it yet.
Yesterday I tried to save it and ended up having to get a tetanus shot.
Pro tip: don't corner a rat.

BBC getting it right with the important news this morning. Big section on the sad demise of a station cat in Liverpool at one of the mainline station. Tributes flowing in from station staff and members of the public, and talk of a statue being put up in his memory!

Brilliant story. A bengal who at one point was (unsuccessfully) banned for biting a security guard. 🤣.

As an aside if any of you ever has cause to be at Slough Station, you should go and see Station Bob on platform 5.

I’d donate to a statue fund - and rightly so.

Unsuccessfully banned for biting 🤣

Allergictoironing · 25/01/2023 10:44

Various people had sent in pics of other community cats supporting the report, and there seemed to be a proportionally large number of tabbys - a couple of which were definitely Bengal/Bengal crosses. Do we sense a bit of a theme?

nettie434 · 26/01/2023 08:28

Excellent photos of Sybil and Cedric, Grumpy!

Bad day today. Boycat has been very restless, clingy and vocal the last few days, and I wasn't sure about his weight loss as I see him every day. So took & sent a pic to the DSis, who saw him at XMas, to get a second opinion on how the weight is going. Sent the same pic to FWK, who agrees with DSis that "he really doesn't look right at all" and when I said about the yowling & clingyness asked when I was making "the booking".

He's now booked in for PTS on Monday week 😱😭

That gives me a few days to spoil him rotten with all the treats he's not been allowed the last few months, as it won't make a blind bit of difference now. Of course if he goes downhill even faster then he goes earlier, but we are all pretty sure he won't be OK much longer than that timescale.

I think my heart is slowly breaking. He was waiting in the window for me to come home again, and I had to sit in the car for a few minutes to pull myself together. My team mate (soon to be boss) at work found me in the meeting room I'd made the vet call from in a sobbing blubbery mess. My eyes are watering now just typing this.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/01/2023 18:57

Very sorry about Boycat Allergic, I'm sure you'll spoil him rotten. 💐.

I am so sorry Allergic. I was talking about this last night to my brother & SIL who are in a similar position. Your plan for next week sounds as if it will be so hard for you but good for Boycat. As ever, you will be ensuring he has the best quality of life. Sending you lots of best wishes.

LostCats · 26/01/2023 20:05

Oh Allergic I am so desperately desperately sorry.
I hope the coming days are very very special and he loves all his lovely treats 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

YesItsMeIDontCare · 26/01/2023 20:08

Oh Allergic I'm so sorry. That final act of love is so so hard, but something good loving pet parents have to do. You will be breaking but BoyCat will be forever grateful for his life, the love you have given him and the dignity you will give him at the end.

(((hugs))) ♥️

Papergirl1968 · 26/01/2023 20:28

I'm so sorry. Thinking of you and Boycat, Allergic. 💔

Supersimkin2 · 26/01/2023 20:49

How horrible for you. Spoil darling Boycat rotten and enjoy your precious time together.

You’re doing the right thing.

RumNotRun · 26/01/2023 21:27

I'm so sorry to hear the news @Allergictoironing Hugs to you and BoyCat.x.

HouseofHolbein · 26/01/2023 22:06

I'm so sorry @Allergictoironing 😢 so much love to you and boycat 💕

TheShellBeach · 26/01/2023 22:28

Oh Allergic. That's so sad. I am so very sorry to read this about Boycat.

Probably most of us on this thread have been in a similar situation. It's never easy. Just know that you're doing the right thing for him. It's so cruel for us but the very best thing for them. I think it's really good to remember that we have that great opportunity, as lovers of our animals, to do this one thing. We end their lives painlessly before their suffering becomes too great. That is such a kind thing to do.

Defiantlynot41 · 26/01/2023 23:31

Oh Allergic- much love to you and boycat. You will get through this

Florissant · 27/01/2023 08:15

I'm sorry to hear the news, @Allergictoironing.

TheLongRider · 27/01/2023 19:28

I'm so sorry Allergic. You've given him a great life and he won't have known anything but your kindness.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 28/01/2023 06:13

Woke up early this morning feeling rather uncomfortable and more than a bit restricted. Think I may have spotted the underlying cause. Mrs Grumpy of course continues to sleep the sleep of the just...

Yes that may be the source of the problem Grumpy 😁.

I had to get up early due to roaming and jumping of 2 cats due to hungry tummies.

LostCats · 28/01/2023 06:31

Of course there was food out, it just wasn’t the right kind of food.

It never is when we're asleep and they're hungry.

Supersimkin2 · 28/01/2023 14:26

That’s the most stylish pet-themed bedding ever. So cosy. Bet Mrs G has woken beautifully refreshed. And the cats.

You must be knackered Grumpy. 🤣 Why not sneak in now for 40 winks?

My brother went through an awful teen
phase of insomnia coupled with a recurring nightmare of being smothered then mummified alive in a heatwave. Doc at a loss. Psych at a loss.

Big Red, the 10 kilo family ginger cat, was finally caught one 3am hugging DB’s head with all four paws and snoring fatly.

DB now 5O, has dogs.

Have a nap Grumpy.
