I'm trying to work out if there is a market for bed wear with trompe l'oeil cats on them. Imagine going to bed with an image of TC about to attack you appearing to leap out of your pillow.

DB also struggled with dreams of being trapped under Niagara Falls.

Big Red was a dribbler.

He loved DB to bits - they were both young blokes - but when SIL appeared on the scene, Big Red found true romance and used to bunny kick DB out of bed when they’d fallen asleep. Poor SIL is horribly allergic to cats, and frightened of them, but the 10-kilo kitten smirking at her on the pillow cured her. Sort of.

DB was loudly furious about the theft of his fiancée and didn’t think BR was amusing or acceptable. He still flares up if anyone mentions his love rival. SIL misses Big Red.

Question especially for the vets/vet nurses here.

Boycat did a really strange dribble thing yesterday. He spent ages with his mouth open & head down, and a sort of string of thick saliva came out slowly. It was clear, nothing in it, just very thick. I've obviously been monitoring his fluid intake and that's been the same now for weeks, and using the "pinch test" I can't see signs of dehydration - will check his gums later today if he lets me.

He IS eating more, mainly because he's off the renal diet now and on the "eat whatever you fancy" diet for his last few days. This has included cat soup for supper, and a load of sliced roast beef from my dinner last night. Back up to normal treats, in fact he's had half a Webbox Stick about 20 mins before the drooling incident.

Any ideas Ladies & Grumpy?

My experience with cats drooling like that - not in an expressing love way / dribbling - but drooling is that they have something wrong with their mouths / teeth.

I hope I am wrong about the cause with your cat, @Allergictoironing.

@Florissant TBH mouth is the least of his worries, he's having his last week of spoiling before being PTS due to the CKD. I'm just hoping the drool isn't a symptom that means we have to bring that forward.

It wasn't the fact he was drooling, it was how thick the drool was - almost as thick as phlegm when you have a cold.

Could it be a reaction to his change in diet?

Yeah could be. He's still getting most of his nutrition from the dry, which is still the renal and down 24/7, it's only a) the wet I've replaced by "treat" wet and b) back up to the previous amount of cat treats like Dreamies.

That is one contented Walter, Coastergirl!

No drool since then, so not panicking and just ignoring that it happened that once.

He's even thinner, but I reckon he's good for his remaining week and he seems happy enough. Fur seems a bit thinner & shorter too. Still chasing & being chased by his sister, often initiating it himself, which IMO is a pretty good sign.

Eating even less "proper" food, but still hoovering up treats & soup. A bit less yelling over the weekend which is good (especially when I'm trying to sleep). I'm glad it's getting warmer though, otherwise I think I'd have to have the heating on 24/7 for him - he's glued to the radiator when it's on, and won't leave the bed when the electric blanket is on.

I've just started a new flexi time 4 week period today, so I may skimp on my hours this week once I've finished the urgent work I'm on, and catch up later in the month.

Sounds like a good plan Allergic. How water bottle/microwave heat pad? When DCat1 had pancreatitis and no appetite, I had some success with minced poached cod and prawns (in tiny quantities) and lik-e-lix.

Lik e Lix he's well into still, I just have to sneak it to him when Girlcat isn't looking 😉. This can be a problem, as she already looks like she's going to have a large litter any day so really can't have much in the way of treats. She has very good hearing for things being opened!

He doesn't like "human" fish, the only human food he will eat is sliced meats like ham & beef, and an occasional bit of roasted chicken or de-coated KFC. Oh and well cooked bacon I found out the other day (left over pigs in blankets in the freezer). Anything else he sniffs at then wanders away looking sad. I've offered both of them poached fish (cod, huss), baked fish (cod, huss, salmon) both with & without butter, prawns, crayfish tails, breaded plaice with the coating taken off..... Both turn their noses up at all those, unnatural creatures that they are.

They do eat fish flavoured wet cat food, but not kibble that has to be meat flavoured.

FWK is concerned that Doris is now completely out of control.

Linney started to eat DH's dinner after I put it on the table, and before DH came through so I didn't tell him.

I told Linney off and thought that DH probably wouldn't mind if his dinner had been started by one of the cats.

I don't see the problem Grumpy. One of DSil's Burmese would perch on the top of the door like that, and occasionally ambush a passing shoulder as her favorite route down. Otherwise she would do a death-defying leap onto the back of the sofa about 4 feet away. She eventually grew out of it mostly by the time she got into double figures!
