Oh poor Emerald.
Our vet said cats like the taste of Metacam, so I just syringe it on to Matt's food and stir it in and he eats it happily enough.

She has perked right up since the medicine.

Good.
Don't blame yourself. Accidents happen.

Yes they did 😎

The Feds took it really seriously and talked to a lot of people. Psycho will get the shock of its life if it so much as gets a parking ticket for the next 7 years.

Awesome news!!! I would love Psycho to get into a bit more trouble so that he/she gets EVERYTHING they deserve

This morning I noticed a lump under Toad's chin, next to his jaw. It's making him look like he has a double chin. He is fine and being his usual bonkers self, so I am trying to tell myself it could be an abscess under the skin, or a swollen gland, but my panicky brain is going straight to cancer for no reason other than it's a lump.

Would you take him to the vet, or watch and wait? I didn't notice it yesterday so it seems to have appeared overnight.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 15/01/2023 01:43

@RumNotRun - Vet, but probably not as an emergency if he's OK in himself.

I used to have a cat called Toad 😁

Hope everyone's doing OK in KittyGossipLand. Sending (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one 💝

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/01/2023 07:19

He actually potted the white shortly after this...

I am less panicky today thankfully. The one negative of living on my own is I have no one to get a second opinion from when the cats are worrying me. The lump seems to have got closer to the surface today, yesterday it felt more internal, so I have a feeling it is an abscess. I will book an appointment with the vet tomorrow, but if Tobias (as Toad is called when he's being a PITA) is anything like my old cat who used to get abscesses a lot, he'll end up scratching it and bursting it. I just hope that doesn't happen when he's clambering over me! 🤢

I was woken up this morning by Toad, Fred, and Frank using me as a climbing frame. I ignored them as long as possible but when I eventually got up, I realised one of the idiots had shut the bedroom door in the night. No wonder they were trying to get me up. Poor Raven was sat outside the door looking upset when I opened it 😸

Grumpy, TC looks very content there. I hope you have explained the rules to him so he knows not to pot the white again.

Florissant · 15/01/2023 12:29

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats - Is that TC? If so, he has been hiding his light under a bushel.

@RumNotRun - Hope Toad is better today.

Supersimkin2 · 15/01/2023 12:32

TC, the very sight of whom warms the soul!!

He is adorable, Grumpy. I see he’s bought a nightclub or pub to put his dodgy money through. Bless the little fluffy lad!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/01/2023 12:57

TC is looking very kittenish!

LostCats · 15/01/2023 13:40

Went to get Boone’s gabapentin from the vet on Friday. Thinking oh it won’t be much.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh god. She said ‘£138’ and we both had to double check it was just for the meds. He didn’t like the pills so I’d got the special chicken flavour liquid in.
He then took to the pills if crushed with a pill crusher and mixed with lick-E-Lix.
he now won’t have the liquid in lick-e-lix.

i may explode

LostCats · 15/01/2023 13:42

And then he got into a fight last night so now I’m watching constantly for an abscess. I’m convinced he’s doing this to see exactly how quickly he can bring us to our financial knees…

Supersimkin2 · 15/01/2023 16:52

Lost! Get it from the chemist!! I got Capn’s from our local pharmacist £9.95 for as much as you can carry.

It’s a controlled drug - a narcotic - so you might have to prove it’s for the cat. I sent a pic of Capn stealing sausages and offered to bring him in but they hastily said photo was enough. The vet will email them too.

LostCats · 15/01/2023 17:04

Oh god what?!! I had no idea that was even an option!

Super, thank you so much! You’ll save me a fortune going forward!

You wouldn’t know he’s in any distress apart from the sad face he likes to pull.
He’s currently snoozing gently under the Christmas tree with lights on which we’ve kept up because he likes it 😁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/01/2023 17:18

That's a brilliant tip Super. I'll try that next time.

Best wishes to your cats Lost & Rum - lots of the litter tray cats seem to be in the wars at the moment.

Lenny, the scruff, seem to have grown ridiculously long (but inevitably unkempt) whiskers recently.

Boots have a good relationship with a lot of vets apparently. You need the prescription from the vet and the vet’s phone number. Persevere - I’d be persevering pretty hard if I’d been charged £150 for a pack of pain pills.

Lots of drugs are the same - we’re mammals - but humans take bigger doses so the only trouble you might face is that the pharmacist doesn’t have the pill in a small enough denomination. In which case try for the liquid.

Supersimkin2 · 15/01/2023 22:23

Lenny is lush. I love it when their whiskers go crazy at the ends. Rakish.

LostCats · 16/01/2023 08:08

Super, thank you so much. I honestly didn’t even know any of this and am very grateful. The £138 made my heart stop. Especially as the bugger won’t even consume it now. Although he does like the cheapest Tesco variant of lick-E-Lix so I may be off to Tesco today

Rebel2023 · 16/01/2023 09:36

I've just found Ollie and paws both fast asleep on the same bed GrinGrin

Allergictoironing · 16/01/2023 09:56

Woohoo! Big advance there. Either that, or it's chilly in your place & it's the best way to keep warm 😉

Rebel2023 · 16/01/2023 10:06

Ollie moved as I screamed with excitement

That’s a sight for sore eyes. Sniff. Utterly beautiful.
