Fingers crossed for poor handsome Matt, have a virtual hug from me too.

Papergirl1968 · 12/01/2023 19:09

Thank you, you lovely people.
He is home, but has to go back tomorrow for a check up.
He will have to be on Royal Canin or Hills special food for the rest of his life. I've cooked him a fish for tonight but I think he's gone upstairs for a nap.

LostCats · 12/01/2023 19:24

Bless his heart. Safe home and off to bed. Do hope it’s a good night for you and him

Allergictoironing · 12/01/2023 20:19

Sympathy for the early demise of your bank balance!

Supersimkin2 · 12/01/2023 20:23

Huge hug from me and a very gentle scritch for The Magnificent.

You must both be exhausted. What a horrible ordeal. But you’re home now. 🥰

Dont worry about the £ Paper - royal canin isn’t that expensive and lasts forever.

Sending every good vibe for recovery.

Papergirl1968 · 12/01/2023 20:51

I've watched Matt go to the litter tray twice but not produce anything. Hoping it's just a bit of irritation from the catheter making him feel like he needs to go when he doesn't.
I'm absolutely exhausted after an emotional day and hardly any sleep last night, so early night for us.
Money was tight anyway even before the £700 bill and special diet. I've just been comparing food on Amazon, Zooplus and Pets At Home as I assume it will be slightly cheaper from one of those than from the vet. The biggest challenge will be stopping him from scoffing Socks' food!

Supersimkin2 · 12/01/2023 22:21

Snuggle up you two - get a really good kip
in.

coastergirl · 13/01/2023 02:18

Hoping my photos of Walter will finally upload.

Hi, Walter! Looking dapper, as always.

LostCats · 13/01/2023 08:53

Ah hi Walter! Looking cosy!

Paper - how is Matt today?

iloveeverykindofcat · 13/01/2023 09:50

Miss Zara has a bit of diarrhea. No blood, no vomit and perfectly well in herself. I think it might be the new beef liver treats. I did worm her yesterday as she basically managed to eject last months wormer so I probably shouldn't count it. How long do you typically give it before calling vet?

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2023 09:54

Could be the wormer ilove. I would see what her next couple of poos are like before seeing the vet.

The "ejection" issue is one reason why I use spot on!😁

iloveeverykindofcat · 13/01/2023 10:03

Yeah we've defaulted to spot on. I only had a pill last month as we were in the process of changing vets. It said palatable on the packet. Lol.

TheShellBeach · 13/01/2023 11:57

@coastergirl Walter is gorgeous!

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2023 14:50

WFH today as there was a bit of a security incident at my office yesterday afternoon - cats are VERY confused!

I'm at home during the day. But I keep going on calls on the laptop using the loud speaker (easier than the headset) with a M.A.N., and not immediately leaping to attention the second they wander downstairs. They've gone back upstairs now in a huff!

Papergirl1968 · 13/01/2023 16:25

Just back from the vet. Matt seems a lot better today. He is eating, although not as much as usual, and has been to the litter tray although I haven't actually witnessed him weeing. Vet seemed happy with him though.
I slept like a log last night!

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2023 16:35

That's a relief about Matt. I've taken to madly cleaning the litter tray at every opportunity to check whether Boycat has used it and if so how much. Harder when he & Girlcat share a tray (by choice)

RumNotRun · 13/01/2023 21:36

Sorry if I missed it @Supersimkin2 but did the police get anywhere with the twat in the flat? For some reason I was thinking about Prince and his ordeal earlier.

Supersimkin2 · 13/01/2023 21:44

Yes they did 😎

The Feds took it really seriously and talked to a lot of people. Psycho will get the shock of its life if it so much as gets a parking ticket for the next 7 years.

TheShellBeach · 14/01/2023 18:42

Can anyone help? I need advice.

I accidentally caught Emerald's tail in a door which I shut, and about an inch and a half of her tail came right off. She squealed and ran to hide immediately. I looked at the bit that had come off and there was blood on it.

I've googled all afternoon and I can't figure out whether or not to take her to the vet's. She has hidden for four hours now - and won't even come out to get Dreamies. DH put a bowl of food near her and she did eat some, though.

I maybe more traumatised than Emerald but I'm worried. I have never known her to hide away for this length of time. It must really have hurt her.

NewBootsAndRanty · 14/01/2023 18:54

I'd give the vet a call and be prepared to take her in.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/01/2023 18:57

Yes - take her to the vet now. The end of her (remaining) tail may need to be cleaned and stitched, and she may need painkillers.
If someone chopped an inch and a half off one of your fingers you'd go straight to a&e. Your cat's tail is no different.

TheShellBeach · 14/01/2023 19:04

Thank you both. I've just rung the vet and will do whatever they say.

TheShellBeach · 14/01/2023 19:05

Waiting for the vet to ring me back.

TheShellBeach · 14/01/2023 19:26

The vet just called back and suggested a dose of Metacam (which we have for our other cat) so I have given it to her (thank God for Lick e Lix).

She said that based on what I told her there was no need to take Emerald in tonight, as long as she is walking (which she is, just not coming close to us at the moment) and not actively bleeding.

I'm glad we had some Metacam in. We'd have had to travel 30 miles to get it if not. (We live very rurally).

Again, thanks for your advice. If she deteriorates I'll call the vet back.

Actually, since the medicine-with-Lick e Lix she has wandered round the room.
