We were out of space so I thought I'd do the honours

Fabulous photo, Yes.
Congratulations on the new job, Allergic.
Sorry to hear about Prince's tooth, Lana. Poor lad.

Supersimkin2 · 02/12/2022 20:21

Another glorious glossy sable Caesar! This one in training!

Melting, Long.

Well done on bagging a job after such a shit week Allergic. Respect.

Allergictoironing · 02/12/2022 20:30

I knew it would be the right job when I told them at the interview about Boycat, and said that taking leave for his vet appointments was non-negotiable. The response was a shocked look, and "of COURSE taking those days off should be a priority, just tell us when you know any dates". Followed at the end of the interview by "look after that poor kitty, give him a stroke from me">

Then when she called to offer me the job, first thing she asked was how Boycat was 😎

TheLongRider · 02/12/2022 20:52

That sounds like a great place to work. I hope they live up to their promises.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/12/2022 21:09

Congrats Allergic - your new job sounds ideal. 👍

Papergirl1968 · 02/12/2022 21:39

The new job sounds like a purrfect fit!

PeloFondo · 02/12/2022 22:20

It does sound great!!

Ollie is wailing away. My 2 options are
Leave him in the living room wailing
Let him in my bedroom to wail and yank at the blinds
Both great options Hmm

coastergirl · 03/12/2022 05:05

Awww Allergic that sounds like a great place to work!

I'm being the worst cat mum ever 😢 My life is just ridiculous at the moment. Poorly kids, so much drama at work, and personal life issues that I don't even dare talk about for fear of judgement. All of this is resulting in me not wanting anyone near me at the end of the day. Walt comes for affection and I just push him away. I feel horrible but I'm just overwhelmed and need space so badly. He might be happier if I found a new home for him 😭

Aww Coaster I’m so sorry. That’s not true at all though. He loves his mummy more than anything ❤️❤️ He just wants to make you feel better. I really do hope it all improves for you.

Allergic, that is absolutely amazing about the job!! Congratulations! Perfect place to be, with cat lovers.

Allergictoironing · 03/12/2022 09:26

Walt will forgive you Coaster, he wouldn't be coming to you if he didn't love you so much. And it might even be comforting and soothing for you to just sit there stroking a contented cat with no expectations - their purr has proven medical healing powers!

I will be back office for a team preparing care leavers to move on from being in care into the big wide world and how to cope with life stuff, so very good for the young adults and society as well - instant job satisfaction. And only a 15 mile commute. It's the same building where some of my colleagues from the job I just quit work, that could prove "interesting"!

nettie434 · 03/12/2022 10:05

Good news about the new job, Allergic, especially the flexibility about vet visits. Sorry things are not good at the moment Coastergirl. Hope they improve soon.

Papergirl1968 · 03/12/2022 11:21

That's wonderful, Allergic. My dd, 18, is a care leaver and has had to have a lot of help in terms of finding housing, claiming benefits etc.
Coaster, I'm so very sorry to hear of your difficulties. You know you've got friends here who will always listen. Walt probably senses your distress and just wants to help in his furry, clumsy way.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/12/2022 10:10

Sorry to hear things are getting on top of you Coaster, hope everything starts to resolve in the near future.
Came into our living room yesterday and realised why cat beds are a waste of time 😁. (Also showing off that I'd just hoovered so the carpet wasn't knee deep in black and grey fur as usual)

Supersimkin2 · 05/12/2022 11:58

That looks sparkling, Grumpy. Well done on matching the furniture to the cat - very chic. Must save time scraping enough fur to knit a new pet every day.

Ginger fur shows against everything, one notes.

Keep on keeping on coaster love. Grab Walt for a cuddle - counterintuitive and works.

Allergictoironing · 06/12/2022 10:22

Just had a bitter sweet moment. Called a local rescue (one that my DSis got her cats from) and offered them all the pouches & tins of non-renal wet cat food that I can't feed any more, before it goes out of date. I have a reasonable amount, enough to be worth them picking up if in the area, because I buy in bulk from Zooplus so at least about £50 worth.

Sweet because I'm able to help them in this expensive time, bitter because if Boycat was well it wouldn't be going spare.

Defiantlynot41 · 06/12/2022 11:50

@Allergictoironing sweeter still to think of others when things are dark for you

Supersimkin2 · 06/12/2022 13:51

RSPSCA, the Met and Safer Neighbourhoods have been made aware of Psycho.

Prince gave a statement yesterday and was scritched by the Constable.

Allergictoironing · 06/12/2022 14:27

Good update. And Prince proving he is a sweet innocent kitty, so no excuse that he had misbehaved, so no excuse on the part of the Psycho.

Has you local council been informed too? I know that in some county councils, animal cruelty is sometimes put on the "red dot" list (people to be very wary of).

Supersimkin2 · 06/12/2022 17:03

Good idea! It’s not a council tenant so not sure who could be told, but at least it’s got a crime number against it. These freaks don’t stop at animals.

Prince attended a short briefing on how to handle the forces of justice before PC Catlover arrived. ‘No biting’ was the takeaway.

He did beautifully, purred up to PC and mewed a welcome while eyeing the Dreamies in my hand.

Allergictoironing · 06/12/2022 17:23

There should be a community safety officer somewhere in the Council e.g. Sevenoaks has a People and Places manager. They tend to liaise with the local coppers anyway. And there's also Community Wardens. But then again, in London those may well be part of the Safer Neighbourhoods scheme so they may be aware.

Reminds me of when some local teens (unfounded) reported my DSis's big Doberman dog to the police as a vicious dog. Copper very hesitantly came through the gate. DSis called the dog over and said sternly "Henry, have you been a bad boy?" Dog promptly rolled onto his back waggling his paws looking sheepish, and wouldn't get up until the copper rubbed his chest. Of course the teen's case wasn't helped when they were asked which dog - one pointed out the (undersized) liver coloured bitch rather than the large black & tan dog the others identified.
