Heartache after saying goodbye- support thread

I'm in agony after losing our boy 2.5 weeks ago. I had another thread deleted as it was too outing but realised quickly there's many of us suffering. Anyone want to join hands?

Apologies I can see in that last photo she was gorgeous! My boy was a bull breed too. Bugger though he was 7 stone. Easier said than done about beating yourself up. I wasn't perfect at all but logically I know none of us are. We all make mistakes but now I can never make up for them x

I use iPad not phone - I have to use the browser not the app for PMs and various other features.

I've no idea how I did it to respond but now I can't do it?

Sorry, same thing would apply on phone probably - if you use the app normally you might need to use browser instead?

How do you get over the pain? she was my sidekick, my best friend and soul mate, we were inseparable, my husband is being amazing but we are both just broken

The pain does gradually moderate and recede. It takes longer for some people than others, but at some point the remembered joy can surface and heal.

So I lost my big bear dec and I feel a little better but I have many distractions.

For me it was a long road, it took me over 7 months before I reached a more peaceful place, I still get tearful when I think of her and the guilt of things that went wrong/should have done still get to me if I let my mind go to the dark place, I still can’t sleep without listening to a podcast because that’s when my thoughts really get to me. I was in agony for months, it was a brutal time, I don’t know how I got through it and was on the verge of seeking counselling but very gradually acceptance of her death crept in, I’ve learnt to be a bit kinder to myself and I can now look at photos and videos of her with a smile. I wouldn’t wish how I felt on my worst enemy. Unfortunately there is no quick fix, it’s a process which may be shorter or longer for you, I really hope it’s shorter, I’m sorry you have joined the club that none of us want to be in.
