I love dogs. I have two. Currently have chihuahuas but I’ve had a jack Russel in the past.

I’ve been around plenty of dogs. I used to work in a rescue kennel, and after all this, there are still two breeds im really not keen on

Yorkshire terriers. I find they have a very pungent smell. Every one I’ve met have the same sort of smell and it’s very off putting.

English bull terriers. It’s the head. I really don’t like the head!

I love staffies, rotties, dobermans and a lot of other breeds, but those two really do bother me. I’m also not particularly keen on westies either but I think that’s because my MIL had two and they were horrible little shits.

Any of the bully breeds …. And chihuahua’s!

Especially EBT’s

I adore Boxers…such amazing personalities, loyal, loving, faithful fun and comical.
Over the past 38 years we’ve been privileged to have 4 as part of our family.
We lost our last darling girl at age 13 just 6 weeks ago.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Losing them is the worst part of dog ownership.

I have known several yorkies, I had mine for almost 19 years (!), none had any discernible smell, certainly not "pungent"!

I haven't seen a Kerry Blue in many years but there was one who lived on my road as a child. He was very aggressive, all the kids were afraid of him so I might be nervous if I encountered one.

I’ve never noticed a yorkie smell either. In fact the opposite, I find the don’t smell
much at all- although they do have the potential to if you don’t keep on top of grooming as bits get caught in the hair.

although will admit mine does love rolling in the deadest, stinkiest piles of crap he can find. Fortunately he can fit in the sink in the utility so he never actually enters the house like that…

Love all Dogs really and would quite happily pet and play with any breed that wanted me to.
That said I am not keen on- Dashounds,Corgis,Border Collies,Pugs,Bedlington Terriers, chihuahuas and Dobermans.
Love EBTs and Boxers, I would like to own those breeds(maybe one day)
I am currently on my 2nd Lab(neither of mine where greedy nor smelly, very soft and fab with kids)
Lost our Border Terrier last Year(far too soon to cancer)
and now have a 6mth old working cocker spaniel and would be happy to have another in the future-never known a dog feel soooo soft(luckily he quite enjoys a snuggle too)
Dogs (and wine) make my world a better place

hiredandsqueak · 16/04/2023 19:18

I'm not keen on any dog that's bigger than a cocker spaniel tbh. I think it harks back to the days when I was genuinely scared of dogs and whilst I'm not scared I prefer the smaller dogs. I love the toy dogs, pretty and primped, I dream of owning a toy poodle with a top knot and a pompom tail.

wetotter · 16/04/2023 19:19

I don't like flat-faced dogs - so many of the poor things look like they really struggle. And you could probably extend that to include all types of exaggerated breeding, including v artificial crossbreeds (it took all my tact and diplomacy to mutter "that's interesting" when I met a pomsky (pomeranian x husky) that had to involve AI

I don't like lots of drool

I don't like really obvious arseholes

forgotmyusername1 · 16/04/2023 19:20

My husbands cousin has a British bulldog. It is a horrible looking dog.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 16/04/2023 19:20

Snoken · 16/04/2023 18:05

I’m with you. I am so bored with all the doodles.

I don’t mind flat nosed dogs if they have been diluted through breeding. Such as Frenchie/Jack Russell or something. If that means they can run around and breathe well then I am all for it and mixing the breeds should be encouraged.

Now my favourite dog both looks and personality wise is a beagle. I’m quite partial though as I have two of them.

I have 2 Frenchie x JRT … they’re lovely 😆.

XL Bullies, but mostly because they’re the current status dogs owned by Dickhead’s.

notanothershitday · 16/04/2023 17:40

I absolutely love English bull terriers and have two, there the most human loving dog that I've ever known, don't like little yapping breeds

I 've always disliked EBTs - fast forward 30 odd years and now own one and think he is simply beautiful!! Gorgeous Roman nose and big grin...and nothing beats the side eye you get when he's doing naughty things!

Fanacapan · 16/04/2023 19:20

Afraid I’m not keen on chihuahuas or jack russells, sorry! I’ve been bitten by too many JRs and I don’t like quivery little dogs. I have a golden retriever, he has the best temperament and is so good with the grandchildren. He has, however, just done a hideous fart so I’m not that keen on him at the moment!

Follyfell · 16/04/2023 19:20

I don’t like anything that looks like it wants to rip my throat out. Also anything that looks like it’s run face first into a wall. Anything very small, greasy, shaky with dribbling eyes.

forgotmyusername1 · 16/04/2023 19:25

TrashyPanda · 16/04/2023 18:29

Rottweilers - their massive jaws scare me.

old English Sheepdogs, because I knew this one that was really creepy. She would follow you around (this was in the 70s, where it was t u usual to see dogs ambling around by themselves) but she kept a distance of about ten feet. Every time you turned around, she was standing stockstill. Never saw her actually mov8ng, but she was always behind us!

Are you sure it wasnt a weeping angel from Dr who in disguise?

MadameThenardier · 16/04/2023 19:25

I’m with @BelindaMelinda I don’t like white/cream fluffy dogs that have tear stains and discolouration around their mouths.

purplesky18 · 16/04/2023 19:28

I have a rescue Frenchie who is luckily bred well and has a longer snout so find the Frenchie owners comments offensive as I promise I am a normal dog lover 😃however I do understand the annoying of seeing dogs unable to breathe, those are the ones that are bred purely for money. I absolutely love my frenchie and he’s a completely chilled out, well behaved dog. However I HATE labradors also, every one I’ve met try’s to eat my poor dog or just run rings round their owners. I don’t like jack Russell’s either, I do like golden retrievers and I absolutely LOVE sight hounds 🐶

carly2803 · 16/04/2023 19:29

XL bullys - they are not family dogs

any crossesd bull breed with pit in or similar - just no need they are bred for one thing - looking hard and cross - the majority ive met act like it too (the dogs)
awful awful things

catchthedog · 16/04/2023 19:29

Chow chows and shar pei's. Never met a nice one. my dogs have been attacked by several of them

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 16/04/2023 19:30

I wouldn't choose a short haired dog.

I love a hairy beast preferably.

springhas · 16/04/2023 19:31

I absolutely hate German shepherds and Dalmatian’s. Can’t stand either of them, they petrify me.

dimpleton · 16/04/2023 19:35

Anything small and yappy, or with a squished up face. Have to say I'm sick of the sight of cockerpoos as well, there's so many of them around.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/04/2023 19:41

Shar-pei , all those folds of skin
Anything that drools . I couldn't watch that film Turner and Hooch because I could guess many of the puchlines were going to involve a pint of dog dribble
And yappy little dogs , if they are not trained to rein it in

MumUndone · 16/04/2023 19:41

Awww, they are all good boys and girls.

blueminnow · 16/04/2023 19:41

Any dog with no tail. Makes me mad at the owners when it's a pet not a working dog, and sad for the dog as I love to see a waggy tail even better if they're while bodies wiggle when they're happy like golden retrievers do.

Timeforachangeisitnot · 16/04/2023 19:41

Bull mastiffs, dogue de Bordeaux, Ridgebacks, shar pei, and chow chows. Never met one that didn’t try to kill my (apparently smelly, boring🙄) labs.
Never met a Cane Corso but don’t fancy it .
But basically, if my dogs like them, I like them. Pretty much like people too.

PinkFootstool · 16/04/2023 19:44

Can't stand poodles. Bad tempered shits most of them. Never met one I liked in any size or variety.

Flat faced breeds - usually full of personality and nice dogs, but the breeding of them is a disaster.

Pretty much any dog under 10kg other than a Jack Russell. Ugh.

Anything that barks constantly - terriers etc where they are poorly trained and the owners think the barking is cute. It's not. If my 27kg mutt behaved like that, it would be accused of being dangerous / aggressive / in need of training / in need of a muzzle.

Rough coated dogs of any breed, but in the ilk of Bedlingtons or rough Jack Russells. Not my thing, even if the dog is actually a nice dog.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 16/04/2023 19:46

Doberman's look scary.
Shnauzers always look dirty and they're barky and smelly.
Spaniels are always a bit intense for me.
