I love dogs. I have two. Currently have chihuahuas but I’ve had a jack Russel in the past.

I’ve been around plenty of dogs. I used to work in a rescue kennel, and after all this, there are still two breeds im really not keen on

Yorkshire terriers. I find they have a very pungent smell. Every one I’ve met have the same sort of smell and it’s very off putting.

English bull terriers. It’s the head. I really don’t like the head!

I love staffies, rotties, dobermans and a lot of other breeds, but those two really do bother me. I’m also not particularly keen on westies either but I think that’s because my MIL had two and they were horrible little shits.

Our NDN has got an old tyme bulldog and it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. They paid nearly £4k for it apparently, and it's had 3 lots of orthopaedic surgery already (it's only 3) as it was so badly bred Sad they can't walk it far as it's so unstable on its legs and it breaks my heart to watch. Poor thing will be lucky to live past 5.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 16/04/2023 17:57

Corgis. Don't see the attraction of them at all.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 16/04/2023 18:02

DF has a pug. It's really hard to hide the fact that I find it repugnant.

RestingMurderousFace · 16/04/2023 18:03

I've yet to meet a French Bulldog that wasn't a complete arsehole. Their owners usually aren't much better.

Can’t bare frenchies, doodles, cockapoo, no thanks. Not keen on xl bullies either but I don’t like those dogs, mainly due to the owners. ( not judgey at all )
However would still stroke them and love them 😂
I just like normal dogs, gsd, rottie, labs, spaniels, sight hounds etc

I’m with you. I am so bored with all the doodles.

I don’t mind flat nosed dogs if they have been diluted through breeding. Such as Frenchie/Jack Russell or something. If that means they can run around and breathe well then I am all for it and mixing the breeds should be encouraged.

Now my favourite dog both looks and personality wise is a beagle. I’m quite partial though as I have two of them.

Samoyeds are beautiful. You can keep the rest.

I'm really not keen on white fluffy dogs like Westies and Bichons for a totally shallow reason.

It's the bit under their eyes - never white past puppyhood but always a stained browny colour that makes me think of drippy eyes and eye gunk. It makes me feel a bit queasy up close.

My great aunt had an old Bichon that was so snappy and yes, the eye seepage really was the icing on the cake 🤢

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 16/04/2023 18:08

I like working dog breeds - or breeds that were originally bred to work, because I'm aware that a lot of dogs are bred as family pets now. So I'm not keen on 'decorative' breeds, all those tea-cup dogs; anything that will fit in a handbag or can't walk more than 100 metres without having to be carried.

Saying that though, the best ratter I ever knew was a chihuahua, so sometimes those little toy things aren't that far from the wolf they once were.

I'm also a big dog person, although currently I have a terrier, who is hell on legs...

Bunnyannesummers · 16/04/2023 18:08

Daschunds for me, and poodles.

Labs stink aswell….dh would kill me if I said I hated labs

Mine doesn’t. Not if groomed properly. It costs a lot though.

gogohmm · 16/04/2023 18:08

I dislike thick dogs, ok in reality I only like working dogs who are bright are fairly self sufficient. Basically I'm on my third collie, enough said

Kleptronic · 16/04/2023 18:10

Schnauzers and shitzus. Thick as mince.

And their arseholes always look like a saveloy that's been cut in half.

Giggorata · 16/04/2023 18:14

I'm not keen on dogs with curled up “look at my bum hole” tails, nor dogs with great big boxy heads.
Obviously, brachycephalic dogs and other horribly deformed via selective breeds types, examples Include King Charles Spaniels and modern exaggeratedly sloping backed German Shepherds (though the Czech and Belgian Shepherds are comparatively unfucked and really lovely)
Not keen on tiny yappy dogs, hairless, weirdly wrinkled or overly short legged breeds.
I hate drooling or dribbly breeds and breeds with poor recall.

I mostly like working dogs, meaning working strains: gun dogs, shepherd, herders, hunters, hounds, sight hounds, lurchers.
As someone up thread so aptly said, dog-shaped dogs.

I came on to say chihuahuas....

and I own an EBT !!!!

We can probably never be friends 😂😂😂😂

RestingMurderousFace · 16/04/2023 18:16

Dog shaped dogs all the way!

Bananasinpjamas4567 · 16/04/2023 18:17

I dislike labs, poodles and anything crossed with a poodle, Dalmatian’s, pugs and dachshund’s. I hate Akita’s and won’t be in a room with one.

I love staffs and greyhounds. I have a greyhound and appreciate it takes a special kind of person to love them! My last dog was a staff and I miss him so much. When my son is older and we are allowed to rehome one I’ll be in it like a shot getting another!

Toooldtoworry · 16/04/2023 18:19

Poodles, and anything crossed with them. Anything tiny like chihuahua size.

Spudlet · 16/04/2023 18:20

I don’t dislike any breed, but brachycephalic dogs make me so sad. I canicross with my dog and today we did a three mile bike ride together, with him running flat out and free with me. He loves his runs so much, it would be so awful if he wasn’t able to because of something that’s been bred into him for fashion. We met someone walking a bulldog (I think an Old English one? Looked like the Churchill dog) and even on a cold day the poor thing was panting like it was fit to drop and could barely move either, it was so bandy legged ☹️

Spudpup is a working type fox red lab btw, and incredibly handsome IMO. And much less whiffy than my old spaniel was (also an excellent dog). He had cheesy feet 😂

ForTheSakeOfThePenguin · 16/04/2023 18:21

Any dog that is not mine, mostly… 😁

lljkk · 16/04/2023 18:22

Dashunds, leg deprived & HEAD too big. Usually hyper nervous.

Technically I like all dogs, even border terriers ugly ones, but leg-deprived just bothers me. Ugh.

13Bastards · 16/04/2023 18:22

Sproodle
Poochon
Cockapoo
Jug

It's a mongrel though really?

RedBonnet · 16/04/2023 18:24

dogs are dogs with their own personalities so I guess it comes down to looks so I would say no to a basset or corgi or any bulldog shape or flat nose shape. I used to think bull terriers were ugly until I got to know one and now I love them lol. I think greyhounds are ugly but I like lurchers. I don't like those scruffy border terriers But I like scruffy lurchers! Bedlington terriers are ugly too. Actually I can't think of any terriers that I like, I'm sure they all have lovely personalities but as I said my preference is based on looks.

MartiniFlan · 16/04/2023 18:25

Dachsunds
Corgis
Yorkshire terriers
Staffordshire bull terriers + all their gruesome relatives
Chihuahuas

This is more because I find a lot of their owners insufferable, but huskies and GSDs. They tend to attract a very 'I'm not like other dog owners' ownership.

Wishimaywishimight · 16/04/2023 18:27

I have known several yorkies, I had mine for almost 19 years (!), none had any discernible smell, certainly not "pungent"!

I haven't seen a Kerry Blue in many years but there was one who lived on my road as a child. He was very aggressive, all the kids were afraid of him so I might be nervous if I encountered one.
