Do you say Mum and Dad or say for instance your DH is in the kitchen would you say 'Go see Roger in the kitchen then, get a treat' sort of thing. Or something else altogether

EatsQuorn · 10/04/2022 15:35

Yep Mum/Dad .

FishfingersAndCustard86 · 10/04/2022 15:35

Mummy/Daddy

If I'm sending her after dd I tell her to 'go get your sister'.

3beesinmybonnet · 10/04/2022 15:35

Mummy and Daddy of course! DS is his big brother and playmate in chief when he's here.

tearinghairout · 10/04/2022 15:37

Mummy and Daddy, brothers and sisters. I also refer to others' dogs like that ("Has Mummy given you a bath?" kind of thing).

WhatIsThisPlease · 10/04/2022 15:37

Mum and Dad

moomoogalicious · 10/04/2022 15:37

Mummy and pops.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/04/2022 15:38

DD owns our dog (at 8 yo) so I'm grandma. She's Mummy and DH is daddy. Which yes, is a bit weird.

LadyLothbrook · 10/04/2022 15:38

The reason I started the thread was because my dog just knocked a glass with his tail so I said 'go sit with dad while I clear it up' and off he went to my husband but then it got me thinking how many people use first names. Glad to see how many use mum and dad.

I have to say, though, that when I heard a young Japanese woman talking about her extremely spoilt pooch as "my daughter" it did seem to be going too far. Maybe depends whether it's straight-faced or with humour.

NorthernPlights · 10/04/2022 15:44

We must be the odd ones out as we our first names and it makes me cringe a bit when people use mummy and daddy about us 😁

But then we don't have kids, so maybe it's connected to that?

(We do call the cat his brother though!)

AmberLynn1536 · 10/04/2022 15:46

Mummy and Daddy of course!

sophienelisse · 10/04/2022 15:47

Mum and dad Grin

LadyLothbrook · 10/04/2022 15:51

@Northenplights I think a poster further up uses first names too

Grin

Mum and Dad, tbf the vet refers to me as mum as well when talking to the dog (not when talking to me that would be weird especially as he is gorgeous

PollyRoulllson · 10/04/2022 16:28

Ohwo never Mummy and Daddy ever ever ever.

Use our names.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 10/04/2022 16:32

Mum and dad.

My mum is his grandma and FIL is his granddad - he knows who I'm talking about when I say each word and gets all excited if I tell him grandma is coming to visit Grin

If I drive to the end of FIL's road and say "we're going to granddad's house" he knows exactly where we're going and will sit by the back gate until he's let in, haha.

mumofEandE · 10/04/2022 16:33

Mum and dad here too! And he has a sister and a hairy sister (the cat) and he knows the difference!

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 10/04/2022 16:34

Oh, and we have three black cats and they're known as his "kitty siblings" - he knows them all by name and if I say "go find Layla" he knows which one I'm talking about, lol.

Tutt · 10/04/2022 16:37

Mummy, Dad and then the DS's/partner by name!
Although I think Ddogs are broken because what ever name you use they go to the door and to greet said person our the treat cupboard. Little weirdos.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/04/2022 16:39

Mummy and daddy.

The dc are brothers 😀

LadyCatStark · 10/04/2022 16:40

Mum and Dad and DS is his brother. My parents are grandma and grandad and their dogs are called Auntie X and Auntie Y. My sister is also Auntie Z 😂.
