Do you say Mum and Dad or say for instance your DH is in the kitchen would you say 'Go see Roger in the kitchen then, get a treat' sort of thing. Or something else altogether

Also mummy and daddy

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 11/04/2022 16:25

I refer to myself as "I" and other humans by their first name to my dog - I am not any dog's mother and they are not related to the dog either.

muddyford · 11/04/2022 18:24

My best friend has my puppy as her goddog.

bluetongue · 13/04/2022 11:41

@MrsTerryPratchett

DD owns our dog (at 8 yo) so I'm grandma. She's Mummy and DH is daddy. Which yes, is a bit weird.
Don’t worry. I’m mummy to my dog and my dad is daddy. Well my dad doesn’t know he’s daddy but that’s what I call him when I talk to my dog. ‘Daddy’s coming over to walk you tomorrow’.
EcoCustard · 14/04/2022 21:20

I am referred to as ‘mummy bear’ by one of our dogs with DH being ‘daddy bear’🙈Grin.
It’s ‘Mumsy’ for our other dog with DH being ‘faceache’ said in a particular way (long story with a farmer & DH) Grin🙈.
The kids are referred to as ‘hoobruv’ or ‘hoosis’.
We have voices/accents for our dogs, I dread to think how utterly bonkers it sounds to any one outside our home. We also had a voice for our dear cat.

Narwhalelife · 17/04/2022 20:49

Definitely mum and dad, we have 2 lab pups so DD (13) is the big sister 🤣🤣

Mental I know but we love it. And the dogs get so excited when I say ‘dad’s home’ 🥰🥰 small things

Dearmariacountmein · 17/04/2022 21:06

Names here no ‘mummy and daddy’. All out cats are actually siblings so will say ‘your brother’ or ‘your sister’.

The vet calls me ‘mum’ and it sets my teeth on edge a bit. No idea why just having bought Into it. Although, My sister does and I’m firmly Autie Maria to here dog.

HardySwine · 18/04/2022 07:48

We’re very much mummy and daddy too, although Dog 1 is Dog 2’s actual mum, so DD tries to refer to me as Granny Shock To get around this, I’m Mummy and Dog 1 is Mumma. We celebrated Mother’s Day for Dog 1 which felt only right - she puts up with a lot, poor love. My parents are Granny and Grandpa and my work colleagues and selected friends are aunties. DD is sister and aunt.
Bloody ridiculous really HmmGrin

Clever dog! Grin

I refer to myself as the master in a pompous and grand voice. When I'm then pretending to be the dog in response I adopt a ridiculous fake American voice and say 'yes mommeeeee'.

SockFluffInTheBath · 18/04/2022 10:26

Umm, ‘come with me’ or by our names which DDog knows.

FizzyTango · 19/04/2022 13:56

Mummy and Daddy ha. But he does know our names as well! He’s obviously just picked that up without us realising!

TurkeyRoastvBubbleandSqueek · 20/04/2022 09:39

He is my son's dog so I am nan, his mummy and daddy are exactly that, my other child's son is his cousin etc When talking to strangers about him he is my four legged grandson...
