Which dog stops you in your tracks?

Like if you're out and you see a dog - what dog would make you stop and stare?

For me it's a pure black or pure white standard poodle properly clipped out. I think they're gorgeous.

I'm not the only one who blanks dog owners in the street so I can smile at their dogs, right?

Flat coated retriever. Lost ours 7 years ago and my heart leaps into my mouth if I see one (which is rare).

We babysit for one occasionally. I cry every time he leaves 😭

Bermese mountain dogs. I wish...

Maybe its just a typo,but it is Bernese Mountain Dog.It is a swiss dog.they bring the milk churns to the local dairy,pulling a little cart.

We have a chow so appreciate seeing the breed!

Pls English sheepdogs, I grew up with one and I miss her still to this day.

Then in no particular order
Standard poodles
Italian greyhound (next on my radar!)
Japanese spitz
Bloodhounds
Chihuahua

Wolfhound/Weimaraner/Italian Greyhound.

And my lovely rescue pug

Miss my GSD and think the long haired coat version is almost perfect. Except when your carpet is covered by a sea of mounted hair. We have a wonderful Norfolk terrier, and like most terriers, he's always up for a shouting match if we're out and he's on the lead. Love the little piddle monster though we seldom meet another. However my heart was stolen by a pharoh hound we saw last year. So beautiful and like an ancient picture come to life. I'd have one in a heartbeat.

This is my girl (photo taken nearly 30 years ago - can’t believe it!). Scotties are absolutely wonderful dogs. Such attitude!

I get quite a lot of looks and double takes with this one.

My absolute favourite dogs in term of looks are sighthounds, especially feathered ones. Except when I stop to think about it, I don't actually like anything about them, except for the Whippet and other smaller ones. I wish I had a neighbour with a Saluki so I could borrow it for a walk or two and feel awesome while during it.

Sorry, Laurie, quoted you by accident, but coincidently I actually met the first Scottie of my life this month. Lovely pup, and I wasn't even aware there was a breeder in this country.

Another sight hound fan. We have a pondenco locally who is a stunner.

Bearded Collies who’ve not been bred to be too small or to reduce the double coat. They’re amazing to see. The best looking dog.

A pure poodle. I saw a black miniature today who was so beautiful I considered asking their kennel. Beautifully clipped (traditional but full - no nod to the hunting heritage - short curls that absolutely highlighted the form).

I bloody love all dogs though…

Knew a blue staffy who had my heart on a string.

English bull terrier, staffy, shiba inu, basenji (although I’ve only ever met one!), hungarian puli.

Poms, Samoyed, Spitz

And bigger German shepherds, Newfoundland etc
Anything with lots of fur

Borzois or Salukis. Though tbh I'll be stopping to talk to any sighthound

I'm with you, I love sighthounds. I've never seen a borzoi in real life and I'd be thrilled to meet one. They're my favourite looking breed. Would also love to see a silken windhound as I've never met one of those either.

Dogue du Bordeaux (French mastiff)

I miss mine so much;it's been nearly 6 years since he passed away;we adopted after him but didn't stick to a particular breed.

We have a very large and handsome Rottweiler who people stop to fuss.

Oh i stopped and stared at the only Gordon setter I've seen recently. I had to stop and look at that as my grandparents had one years ago. She was the softest, kindest dog. Stunning, v regal with that ddeep shining black and the tan. Red setters are more obviously beautiful but Gordon's are pure understated beauty and elegance.
