Which dog stops you in your tracks?

Like if you're out and you see a dog - what dog would make you stop and stare?

For me it's a pure black or pure white standard poodle properly clipped out. I think they're gorgeous.

My mums Japanese Spitz always gets a lot of attention. He is the happiest, floofiest bundle of daftness going!

German pointers, all of them short haired, wire haired or long haired. Especially this one.

Oooh and I love a Stabyhoun , like spaniel but better

Argh *@Ethelfromnumber73*, BORDER PATROL! They are cracking wee dogs (although an Irish Wolfhound is my lottery-win dog… along with the country estate that must of course come with him). My BT is the most helpful ie nosy dog I know. He must be involved in everything or he looks even more accusatory than he does normally. Here he is “helping” with a restoration project!

It has to be a beagle. Always shout beagle when I see one. Just love them and wouldn't be without one.

I have always been a canine fan but now stop for all spaniels as they are without doubt the happiest of dogs. Mine has the most waggy bum and is just such a joyful lad. Every day is Christmas day to him!

Oh my goodness @GuyFawkesDay I have to agree with you about Spaniels and yours is just adorable!

@newreality1i think so but I may be biased!! They're just such sweethearts. Nutters but they totally ADORE people and are desperate to please.

Our boy gets lots of attention on walks. I can't resist a Bassett Hound and there's a gorgeous Weimaraner I see on walks - his coat is like velvet.

@Horriblehalloween GSPs are not good first dogs, they are high energy, slightly neurotic prats that require endless training and a fair bit of exercise. Plus they often suffer from separation anxiety.
The puppies are as cute as anything with their too big ears, the adults are loyal and wonderful but the teen stage lasts for ever.
If you are experienced with dogs, never leave the house for more than 2 hours 27 mins and own at least three pairs of walking boots, then maybe think about one.
The above mutt who is GSP x GWP (whoever thought that was a good idea?) has been known to cover 5 miles chasing swifts round and round and round the field. She is by the way the most adorable dog ever, just bloody hard work.

Those are my favourite to see when I'm out but truth be told I will stop and fawn over any dog, unless the dog looked aggressive.

We grew up with GSD and they so gentle, loving, loyal and protective.

I would second what @Postdatedpandemic has said. My girl is nearly 4 and only just starting to calm down and stop being a stroppy teenager. Despite hours and ££ of training I have to be very careful where she is let off the lead as her prey drive for anything that moves is just insane. But she is the most loving, loyal, charismatic dog I have ever met She loves to play with other dogs but is quite wary of strangers (unless you have a dog, then she trusts you 🤣)
