I dread doing the flea pills cos cocodog always lethargic afterwards and a bit off for 24 hours. Worming pills not so bad.

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/06/2018 12:22

The tablets dont seem to bother mine, its just getting him to take them. The spot on stuff though was awful.

steppemum · 11/06/2018 15:40

feeling very in love with steppdog, as I have just found a friend who will dog sit him for our summer holiday, so I can stop worrying now.

(although if his recall is a crap a sit was this morning, she won't be doing it again in a hurry Hmm)

BiteyShark · 11/06/2018 16:44

That's good steppe, not sure what I would do without our dog sitter when we go away because I really don't think he would do well with kennels or a stranger.

Got some of those rocks that are meant to prevent grass burn after being reassured he wouldnt be able to/want to eat them. 3 hrs In and I've already had to wrestle the out his mouth. They are big but I'm not sure about them.

BiteyShark · 11/06/2018 18:55

Not point using them here Goood as he keeps drinking out of the watering cans or the hose pipe Grin.

I am kind of winning ish with watering his pee straight after with a watering can and the ones we miss using that Scott's miracle dog patch repairer. We have gone from over 30 or so burn patches to about 10 and that's mostly new ones I keep missing.

OP posts:
steppemum · 11/06/2018 22:15

we don't have wee burn problem, but steppedog seems to think that digging holes is a great new past-time, so over the weekend, 2 holes appeared int eh lawn, and he just looked at me all innocent!

BiteyShark · 12/06/2018 08:09

We have had two firsts.

BiteyDog slept all night in the spare room last night. No barking or coming into our room in the middle of the night. He was extremely tired but really hoping he starts to use that as his bed.

Had a gas man round today and normally I keep him behind a baby gate (BiteyDog not the gas manGrin) but let him in the same room and tried to keep him sat on the sofa and he was reasonably good. Kept wanting a stroke from the gas man but he wasn't jumping all over the place and was reasonably settled although I had to keep telling him to stay on the sofa. This would have been unheard of a few months back as he's a typical spaniel and thinks everyone adores him. Maybe he's finally starting to settle down Grin.

I should say BiteyDog barks when he sleeps in the spare room as he wakes up and thinks he hears 'monsters' and then comes into our room for reassurance. I would like him to stay there as he is far more comfy but don't want to force the issue either by shutting him in.

I am not feeling very in love with SquirrelDog this morning. Apparently something highly exciting has set up home just outside the house which required extensive supervision, commenting on and patrolling last night for about 4 hours. Angry Whatever it is (and it’s invisible as far as I can tell), it’s better have buggered off by tonight.

BiteyShark · 12/06/2018 10:09

I know that feeling Squirrel. DH and I comment that BiteyDog is hearing 'monsters' again when he suddenly sits up and starts growling. Fortunately he doesn't insist on 4 hours of it Grin.

It’s very unusual for him to be that agitated for that long tbh. I hope it wasn’t a burglar that I failed to notice!

noitsnotteatimeyet · 12/06/2018 11:56

Well she’s here!! We had a pretty good first night - she wouldn’t go in the crate so dh put her bed next to his side of the bed - he took her out for a quick wee at 3:30 this morning and she went straight back to sleep until 6:30. And she’s just taken herself to bed in her crate and has conked out. Teatimetoller is being ok but has told her off a couple of times - she doesn’t seem at all fazed by that (but does stop what she was doing!). She thinks he’s fascinating and wants to join in whatever he’s up to so we’re making sure he has plenty of puppy-free time

BiteyShark · 12/06/2018 13:18

Sounds like Teatimetoller is going to be a good teacher Grin

We need pictures!

Wolfiefan · 12/06/2018 17:52

Oh bless him. And YES pictures!!!!

steppemum · 13/06/2018 11:08

Oh squeee! Puppy!!!

How old?

loving the midnight monsters.

I woke up last night to a noise in the garden at 1am. It was steppedog tapping the back door very politely. Dh had let him out for a wee before bed and forgotten to let him back in Shock

I thought he was asleep on ds bed.
poor dog, he slunk in looking as if he was in BIG trouble, and rejected my cuddles and slunk off up to ds.

Squirrel26 · 13/06/2018 13:24

Oh no! Poor Steppedog!

My back door keeps blowing shut. SquirrelDog just stands outside, or sticks his nose silently through the cat flap till I notice. I’ve no idea why he doesn’t just bark, since he barks to alert me to all sorts of other random crap.

steppemum · 13/06/2018 14:01

ha ha, yes steppedog barks at a squirrel or pigeon, in case I haven't noticed, but just sat sadly in the garden until he got too cold I think.

(not the first time dh......)

dh was suitably ashamed this morning.

BiteyShark · 13/06/2018 20:38

I once heard BiteyDog woofing and I couldn't find him. Turns out I had shut him out in the garden accidentally. Felt awful especially as he never barks to come in so he must have been fed up waiting for me to open the door Blush

Ooh poor steppedog sitting sadly in the garden. Reminds me of first dog we had, black lab...we held a progressive supper in aid of village school which ended with a massive party in our house. Lab had been a joyous part of the evening, had been out in garden and I thought had retired to bed at about 1am. Nope, she obviously sidled out with last guests at around 3 am and first we knew of it was 7am with a phone call from neighbour who had been at the supper who found her raiding her bins. These days without children at home I seem far more precious about cocodog, I always know where she is, perhaps too precious!

noitsnotteatimeyet · 13/06/2018 22:59

Day 2 pretty much done - teatimetoller is feeling more relaxed about the new arrival today and has only told her off once today but as it was because she was trying to chew his paw which was hanging off the sofa I think that’s fair enough...

Wolfiefan · 13/06/2018 23:23

If it's dangling then it's fair game to a pup!!!
Too cute.
Bitey that probably translated as "FFS! Seriously? Jeez you really can't get the staff!" Grin

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/06/2018 23:59

The dog ate The tv remote Hmm I blame the kids for leaving it out. He didn't actually ingest any of it just ripped it to shreds.

Wolfiefan · 14/06/2018 00:28

Bloody kids!
I've told mine not to leave anything they don't want eaten in reach of the dog. Given her size that means keeping stuff in their bedrooms! Grin
