BiteyDog isn't too bad now with things being left out. He has a sniff but the only things he will steal are shoes and door stops.

Our lovely dog care lady says he is going through another teenage regression phase with training Sad. I thought at over 20 months with his size we would be done Confused.

The only thing cocodog will have a nibble at is DH s work shoes. I think she would like to make off with my iPad though and bury it out of my reach, never to be seen again ha ha🐶

Bitey, i wonder if there might always be a teenage element to a spaniel😬

BiteyShark · 14/06/2018 06:55

thegirl nooooooooo don't say that about spaniels. I am hoping he grows up eventually Grin

SquirrelDog has eaten I think 3 remote controls.

I no longer have a remote control, and when I want to change the channel I have to get up and walk to the TV like in the Olden Days.

steppemum · 14/06/2018 12:21

oh laughing at permanently teenage spaniels, and eaten remote controls. (no, please no!)

Another hose shower and shampoo for steppedog this morning, after another poo roll Hmm

But I am truly ecstatic. Steppedog is learning to bring a ball back!!

never though we'd get there, tried everything, and yesterday saw a tiny tiny bit of progress, and then this morning he brought it back more often than he didn't!

(costing me a fortune in naice treats Grin)

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 14/06/2018 15:40

Wow, steppemum, I’d be ecstatic if cocodog lost interest and failed to bring the ball back😬 she is an obsessive fruit loop about balls to the extent we have to keep them out of sight in a cupboard otherwise she would never relax.
DH is self confessed pretty rubbish with dog psychology and training but religiously shuts her football in the shed after play. She is much better than she was six months ago though when balls got banned altogether for a while🙄

steppemum · 14/06/2018 16:12

it is just such a good way to tire him out. He goes mad chasing the ball, he just then thinks he should run off with it.
Initially he actively made a bee line for any wood/puddle/river/marshy area/undergrowth, and then dropped the ball somewhere in the middle.
We lost a lot of balls, as I naively thought at some point he would start to come back to me so I can through it again (he loves me to throw it again!)

But 20 minutes of mad ball chasing in the garden would be very handy if I had to go out for a couple of hours, before his long walk. It also means kids can do it.

GooodMythicalMorning · 14/06/2018 16:32

Indy loves a football but bulldogs dont fetch. He'd just stare at you like "Are you mad? You go get it lady!"

BiteyShark · 14/06/2018 19:06

BiteyDog will bring the ball back as he's desperate for me to throw it again.

However, if it's hunt the ball rather than throw the ball he will find it but won't bring it back. I think he figures that he's done his job by finding it in the long grass for me so I should fetch it myself.

Gorgeous pair teatime! Hope they continue to be enamoured with each other Smile

noitsnotteatimeyet · 15/06/2018 10:50

She slept through the night - woohoo Smile

We had teatimetoller’s trainer come to the house yesterday so we could get her off to a good start and afterwards she was shattered...

There’s been a few grumbles from teatimetoller over toys ... usually ones he’s shown zero interest in for years but which are suddenly his absolute favourites Hmm but we’ve also had pleased greetings on both sides when he’s come back from his walks.

Yay to the sleep.
Sounds like toller is setting the boundaries with the pup!!

BiteyShark · 15/06/2018 15:53

Glad it's going well teatime and very jealous of the sleep as BiteyDog decided he really needed to poo at 3:30 am Angry.

Been trying to entertain mine whilst working today. Fortunately I can squeeze 10 mins of agility and ball play into a coffee break.

I really wish BiteyDog would at least chew grass. Second time in recent weeks I have had to help him during a poo. He ran around so much I have had to give his bottom a wash with shampoo as well [boak].

Squirrel26 · 15/06/2018 17:59

Urgh Sad

Just about to take SquirrelDog to the fenced dog run. I plan to get a coffee on the way and sit on a log ‘supervising’ while he runs round in circles. I’d rather have a gin, but it’s a 40 minutes drive.

BiteyShark · 15/06/2018 18:44

Oh squirrel I feel for you while nursing a cold bottle of beer Grin

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 15/06/2018 19:39

It’s bloody cold out here all of a sudden!

BiteyShark · 16/06/2018 10:55

Can someone have a word with BiteyDog as he clearly has 'poo issues'. Yet again been eating long grass and yet again (tmi) it won't come out. Does he stand still or let me help him with a poo bag? No he runs about because it's clearly dangling and proceeds to get it all over him. Yet another shower of his bottom end today. no one tells you this when you ask what owning a dog entails

OP posts:
steppemum · 16/06/2018 16:58

Oh Bitey, you have my sympathy, steppedog did this this morning, could NOT work out why he was squatting and walking and wiggling and clearly not happy, then I noticed there was a dangling bit.
After a minute or two he sorted it 9and fortunately didn't get it all over himself.
When I picked it up, it was like a string of sausages, joined together with grass.....

BiteyShark · 16/06/2018 17:57

It's awful isn't it steppe when you pick it up. I wish he would chew it a bit more then he wouldn't have a problem.

Going to the vets next week as BiteyDog is doing a lot of scooting so think his anal glands must be blocked which I don't think is helping the pooing difficulties either.

OP posts:
GooodMythicalMorning · 16/06/2018 18:49

Oh god, I had to pin Indy down as he had a grassy poo hanging out his bum swinging to and fro. He kept scaring himself hopping about all over the place. Dd had to help as I couldn't get the poo and hold him still.

BiteyShark · 16/06/2018 19:37

So glad it isn't just me that has to go through this Grin
