He's 11 months. Treats dont help, if he wants to pull it he pulls it regardless unfortunately. The lounge is where we are mostly as the other rooms are small or are upstairs so he has to be around the sofa.

Goldmonday · 29/03/2018 10:25

It's anything with a dog bark, doorbell, knocking, shrieking or sudden noise. One of them starts and sets the other off and then we have 10 minutes of growling and semi barking

Goldmonday · 29/03/2018 10:26

@BiteyShark I LOVE that you change the channel for your dog.

I have found my people

Squirrel26 · 29/03/2018 10:30

SquirrelDog sometimes gets very interested in birds on the TV. He’s also been know to look behind the mirror for the other dog Grin

Honestly, I would just take the tablecloth off the table (but I am very lazy - SquirrelDog chews books. I have put all the books on high shelves/ shut them in the spare room. Problem solved.)

BiteyShark · 29/03/2018 10:32

BiteyDog is totally spoilt Grin

I think the TV sounds are sometimes too 'realistic' and they think it's actually happening in the house. Your dogs are probably saying 'hey there is someone at the door etc, and probably can't understand why you don't react Grin

TropicPlunder · 29/03/2018 11:08

Mine doesn't seem to register TV noises....even wildlife documentaries with wolves howling away....She's oblivious! Or just very sleepy in the evenings. I think she sees it as a cue to get on the sofa with us. Like 'Ah, now we're all curling up, yes?' Grin

GooodMythicalMorning · 29/03/2018 11:18

We use the table all the time so can't really take it off. This seems to he helping so far anyway.

Indy not usually bothered by tv noise unless it's a dog or a doorbell. I wonder if they just watch the colours or are actually 'watching' the tv.

Squirrel26 · 29/03/2018 14:32

I find it interesting that they seem to recognise the shape of things, but not necessarily that they aren’t real - someone near us has a hedgehog shaped boot scraper which causes great offence, and he once got really upset because the vet’s had some papier-mâché models of dogs in the waiting room, I assume because it looked like a dog, but it was ‘wrong’ (his usual reaction to ‘real’ dogs is to ignore them, but these he barked at.)

PairOfMarigolds · 29/03/2018 14:44

Marigoldsdog is flat out at the other end of the sofa, lucky thing!
Had a great few days off work with her though!

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 29/03/2018 15:15

😁at the papier-mâché dogs. My girl is very suspicious of stone ornaments particularly mushroom shaped ones.

Squirrel26 · 29/03/2018 17:02

I’m not really sure what the point of the papier-mâché dogs was. It wasn’t like we didn’t know we were in a vet’s surgery...

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 29/03/2018 19:03

Perhaps they were seeing to many cats and hamsters and wanted to appeal to a more doggy clientele😀
Is anyone noticing a change in behaviour with the lighter evenings? Although she is having the same amount of walk time, playtimes etc...back a few weeks ago she was settling in front of the fire by six now wanting an extra game after tea, wandering around the kitchen and not settling until well gone seven.

BiteyShark · 29/03/2018 19:07

I haven't seen any change in the evenings but BiteyDog is not wanting to eat in the mornings as I think he considers it to be too early so I am having to feed him later.

GooodMythicalMorning · 29/03/2018 19:54

No change here, thought Indy might not go to bed as early but he's been doing fine.

noitsnotteatimeyet · 29/03/2018 20:27

Teatimetoller isn’t really bothered by the tv - he’ll occasionally glance at it if there’s a dog barking but quickly loses interest. His weird thing (well, one of them!) is he gets wildly overexcited by people counting - if anyone starts saying ‘one, two, three ..) he’s bouncing around, barking wildly by the time they get to three Hmm no idea why ...

bluetongue · 30/03/2018 01:08

Sounds like Biteydog is on the mend. You’ll be back out on walks in no time.

No rain here. We actually need it though. So sick of watering the grass and garden. Still in bed at 10.30am and feel like I should be doing something outdoorsy with Bluepuppy. Guess that’s the beauty of a 4 day weekend. Plenty of time to be active and slothlike Grin

Still on the search for whippet 2. If I wanted another baby puppy it would be easy to find but seeing as what I’m after is something a bit older they’re not as common. I know they do come up from time to time and I’m spreading the word that I’m after a young whippet so I just have to be patient.

BiteyShark · 30/03/2018 04:54

BiteyDogs scar is looking really good and the lump is definitely a lighter shade of pink so he is improving. We had 15 mins of naughtiness yesterday so he's both bored and feeling much better Grin He's even put on some weight due to DH cooking him cod fillets every day so you can no longer see his ribs. Overall he looks really healthy if you ignore the massive shaved area around his stomach [stupid dog]. DH and I are going to be a nervous wreck though when he next gets sick. Whilst it's almost certainly will be his IBD there will be a worry that it's something he's eaten again but we can't wrap him in cotton wool so will have to manage our new anxiety with Wine and Cake Grin

I'm mn'ing whilst he's currently curled up behind me asleep. So nice to have a dog to cuddle up to as he usually sleeps on the floor beside the bed.

Hope whippet2 comes along soon blue. It must be frustrating now you have made the decision to get another not to find him or her yet.

I’m actually okay waiting to get another dog Bitey. Gives me a chance to get my finances back in order after my holiday.

Here’s Bluepuppy looking like a super canine lure coursing athlete when in reality he ran about 20 metres after the lure then ran back to me Grin

Glad biteydog feeling well enough to be naughty😀 Cocodog cuddles on our bed in the morning quite often but she is wriggly and gets too hot so after a tummy rub will take herself to the bottom of the bed.
Bluepup has certainly grown up, great pic 😁

Squirrel26 · 30/03/2018 09:46

Oh, well done, BiteyDog!

I’m currently sitting on the ground in the dog run at our training centre, watching SquirrelDog run in circles round the fence. We’re going to visit my parents later, so I’m trying to make him tired. He has actually come back to me twice of his own accord, which is massive progress for him. If he carries on like this I should be able to let him off lead in 5-7 years...

BiteyShark · 30/03/2018 10:03

I'm getting lots of cuddles of BiteyDog at the moment. He's lying on me fast asleep and my legs are going numb but I don't have the heart to move him Grin

Sounds like SquirrelDog is having fun. They look so happy when they are just manically running about Grin
