Goood mine went through a phase of not wanting toys anymore and we put them away. Recently though he has decided he likes a few toys again but only a select few that he can't destroy

TropicPlunder · 19/01/2018 16:46

Mine seems interested in toys if I'm holding/waggling them. Otherwise she'll get a shoe or the sofa until I waggle something. Lucky though, she hasn't chewed anything up....all seems to happen just when I'm watching! I don't think she bothers with either her toys or my stuff if I'm not

thereinmadnesslies · 19/01/2018 19:36

Hi everyone, can I join you? I bought home an 11 week cockapoo yesterday. So far he’s been pretty good and slept through the night. However, he’s determined to chase the cats, and the cats are hiding upstairs.

Welcome aboard thereinmadnesslies

TropicPlunder · 20/01/2018 10:22

He's a cutie, Madness! We had our first trip to a busy-ish market today with the pup. She's been bursting with energy at home, but is still really timid out of the gates. She did well meeting a few people and kids, but a few kids got way too much in her face before I could stop them and she gave a little growl. She almost definitely was not well socialised in that important early window.....so I hope we can still improve somehow!

bluetongue · 20/01/2018 10:24

My dog loves toys but will also not say no to a chew on a shoe or a remote control (or two). He has a dog door so often all his toys end up in the backyard Smile

Lovely pup thereinmadness . I’ve never had a dog and a cat at the same time so can’t help there I’m afraid. Welcome.

Not good weather for dogs (or people) here at the moment. It got to 43 degrees the other day Shock Luckily Bluepuppy still seems to be eating fine. Walks are limited to cooler days, early mornings, evenings and in the case of today, not at all. Luckily I have access to daycare for him that is inside and aircondtioned. He went Thursday and Friday this week so Felton guilt about not taking him out today. Tomorrow morning he has an early morning beach run with a friend then probably just a quick evening walk. So jealous of snow!

GooodMythicalMorning · 20/01/2018 10:31

No snow for me. Just rainy squidgyness. Missing our walks here.

Not sure I would like your temperatures blue but less rain here would be nice. It's just a big bog of mud everywhere and is forecast heavy rain again all tomorrow. No point dragging BiteyDog out as he hates it when it's that bad.

Tropic not too surprising she growled with lots of kids getting in her face as it must be frightening.

bluetongue · 20/01/2018 10:43

I’ll have some of your rain Bitey So dry here it’s a nightmare keeping plants alive and the water bills are Shock You can some have some our warmth.

BiteyShark · 20/01/2018 10:54

blue yes please on the swop Grin I would love to live in a nice temperate climate at the moment. Can't stand extremes and it just feels miserable with all the rain.

thereinmadnesslies · 20/01/2018 13:04

Thanks for the welcome everyone Smile. Madness pup seems to be taking it all his stride. Thankfully he’s fully vaccinated and allowed to go out, so I can wear him out with short walks.
BlueTongue the heat sounds incredible! My sister had a dog in Asia and he had boots so he could walk on hot pavements!

TropicPlunder · 20/01/2018 13:09

Sure Bitey, nobody was particularly surprised in the situation. Definitely wasn't lots of kids Wink

BiteyShark · 20/01/2018 13:20

TropicPlunder sorry I didn't meant it in that way but more in the don't worry about the growl as even the best socialised dogs can still find that scary.

TropicPlunder · 20/01/2018 13:49

Ah yes true... hadn't thought of it like that. And I had underestimated how fast a toddler with a puppy in it's sights can be! Will have to keep trips out short for now, but on the whole was good

GooodMythicalMorning · 20/01/2018 14:47

Just got back from the vet. He's healing well but still got to keep the cone on til Thursday.

therein 11 week old cockapoo here too with two cats refusing to stay downstairs more than a couple of minutes at a time! We finally get to go out on Tuesday and I can't wait. He really needs it.

Yokohamajojo · 20/01/2018 21:21

Just cannot deal with all the mudShock he is never dirty like a lab or spaniel as he is short wired coat and don’t roll in anything or go in water, but the paws my goodness! Our garden is such a mess!! Put him in the bath just to do the paws and oh my he hates it and the bathroom was like a mud war thing😆

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 20/01/2018 21:22

Goood glad he's doing well.

MsHomeSlice · 20/01/2018 23:09

Just dipping my feet into the puppy madness....haven't had a pup for maybe four years and new one to arrive next week, should have arrived last week but the snow stopped the delivery/collection!

I puppy walk for guide dogs and our two home dogs, (both GD rejects) died last year so it's been a horrid few dog free months if I am honest. They were both GSDs ....I am not allowed to have any more GSDs.

BeulahBattleaxe · 21/01/2018 11:02

Hi everyone. Here for conversation and advice if that's ok? About 6 weeks in with my new puppy. I haven't had a puppy in 10 years and forgot what arseholes they are. Everything is being chewed inckuding me. He is an akita and is basically just a big cat. I hate cats 😂😂😂 he looks cute tho and does all the usual tricks. Very intelligent but he just cannot work doors out. Unless it's fully open he can't work out he can get through it and he keeps locking himself in rooms.

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/01/2018 08:14

Cone is off. Meant to stay on til thurs but wound is fine and it was broken.

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 22/01/2018 10:10

Awww bet he loves the freedom from the cone Goood

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/01/2018 19:41

He is. For the first few hours he was a bit of a pickle making a mess and wanting to get into everything, but he's calmed down this afternoon.

Latest challenge... Dpup refuses to eat her ‘actual’ food. Obviously anything vaguely interesting such as roast chicken is fine, so I’m not really worried that something is amiss, more frustrated that I’m trying to feed a really nutritious meal & she turns her nose up at it 😬. She’s a slim build anyway.... Anyone experienced similar? She’s 8mths.

PerfectlyChaotic · 23/01/2018 08:06

Hope all wearing cones are much recovered soon!
