That's a beautiful picture Ziva.

BiteyShark · 31/01/2018 07:31

Awww lovely Ziva

Elphame · 04/02/2018 17:44

Elfpup did make me laugh this afternoon. We were walking off lead past a modern office block with plate glass windows. He spotted another Welsh Terrier just like him inside the building and did his usual "freeze". The other dog copied him. He crept closer, so did the other dog. he then ran down the side of the building with this other dog mirroring every move.

He really couldn't work it out and I was almost crying with laughter. After about 5 minutes of this he gave a very defiant woof and came running back to me.

Got to love him - he's a little wretch at times but I wouldn't be without him

GooodMythicalMorning · 04/02/2018 17:48

Aww how cute. Indy wouldnt have worked it out either! Nice walk here where he was completely off lead and he was so we'll behaved.

I'm still here sorry to have neglected this thread for a while . So hokeypup is now 7 months and still a pain in the arse- I feel very guilty for saying that though as she is so good in so many ways Sad

She sleeps through the night we let her out for a wee before we go to bed round 23.30 and she sleeps in our room or on the couch till we are up at 7/7.30. Rarely has an accident indoors anymore thank goodness! She still shadows me constantly which is ok if I'm watching TV or sitting but if I'm trying to clean or cook it drives me insane constantly under my feet and following me up and down non stop.I suffer from an anxiety related illness and the constant sound of nails on the floor boards behind me tips me over the edge sometimes Blush ( her nails are trimmed regularly but seem to grow back almost instantly!)Her behavior when visitors call too is appalling and is a major source of stress for me.Especially with dd's little friends so I can't have them over anymore.

I worry about exercise if I'm honest as I said before we have a huge garden that isn't secure and while sometimes we go out with her she will stay with us ,the majority of the time she bolts into nearby fields which are owned by a trigger happy farmer who shoots dogs on sight Sad She is out and walked on lead in the garden a few times a day and also we play lots of ball games but I know we need to step up on walking on the roads but so im nervous due to the speeding cars and no footpaths.

Im sorry for being such a moany Minnie Everytime I post on this thread planning on getting a set of one to one classes with a great local puppy trainer so hopefully things will improve then and her zero recall will improve! Flowersto you all hope all your puppies are doing well

Elphame · 05/02/2018 12:13

Can you secure at least part of the garden for her?

We had a similar issue and decided to buy 100m of chicken wire to reinforce the hedging round part of the garden and to keep him out of other parts. It was a cheap solution and doesn't look that great at the moment but the hedging will soon grow through it and hide most of it.

dog, not fog...stupid phone!!

He's not very pleased with it tbh, but less vexed than when he has his real collar on.

BeTheHokeyMan · 05/02/2018 18:22

Gorgeous gorgeous puppies!

Our garden/house layout is a bit strange so in order to section a piece off it would be quite a bit away from the house and I wouldn't be able to see her from anywhere in the house either I should draw a diagram Grin

Dh has suggested a radio coller but I'm not keen hopefully with the one on one training sessions we will be able to work on her recall and perhaps the trainer might have a solution

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 06/02/2018 10:34

Still being driven slowly insane here. He's doing okay - I just wish I could stop all other commitments and focus on him 100%. I have Fibro and it's been a real slog looking after him with work to sort. I'm really tired atm. Once cold weather goes it will start to settle, I'm just wiped out. He's been fine with sleeping, I just feel like I have a lot on.

thereinmadnesslies · 06/02/2018 14:13

Kinky - it’s really good going to juggle a puppy and work. I’m off work indefinitely for the next few weeks. I’ve got no idea how I can juggle both.

BiteyShark · 06/02/2018 14:19

KinkyDorito hang in there. I know how difficult it is with work and puppies and sometimes look back and wonder how I got through it as I had to make up for lost time at night when puppy was asleep,

I know pup is still little at the moment but if it's a struggle in the future maybe consider something like an occasional half day daycare just to give you chance to focus on work then when he comes home you can focus on him. Daycare for me is a life saver.

Sostenueto · 06/02/2018 21:27

My little time driving me mad this last week! Where does she get excess energy from? Her walking g on lead is going to pot even though we go to training! Every dog and every person has to be greeted! Half choke and harness does not deter her in any way! I can't let her off on my own as I don't quite trust her. If my dd with me then its OK but she works full time so not many occasions that I can do it. If I.let her loose in garden it takes at least an hour and garden wrecked to get her in then it means yet another shower as she digs for England!. Today she had precisely 1 hours nap all day! Play, walk, run round mad, play, walk ( catch the snowflakes) run round mad I'm worn out, in my late 60 s and sighed with utter relief at 7 pm when she literally flaked out! She's 7 months on the 18 th so I'm wondering whether she may be coming on heat. No discharge , swelling or blood so not sure. If course she could just be a very demanding naughty teenager! But help!Grin

BooToYouToo · 08/02/2018 13:35

I’ve another naughty 7 month old Sostenueto but at least he sleeps from 11am to about 2pm so I get a break. You must be so shattered.

Boopup’s main problem is eating everything (he’s a cockapoo). He’s managed to find a source of pens and pencils in the playroom which I didn’t know were there. And the rattan seat on our kitchen chair is nearly chewed through. He does have a few teeth still to come in so I’m hoping that one day he’ll stop the chewing. We can momentarily offer a chew toy or distract him with a game/training but as soon as that’s over he’s back on the chairs. When my DH comes home at 7pm I can’t wait to hand him over. His recall is getting better so walks are more fun but he’s difficult to love when he’s destroying my kitchen!

GooodMythicalMorning · 08/02/2018 13:42

Indys been quite wearing today. Was an angel yesterday so may be this is yesterday's cheekyness too! Nice walk though. We only just remembered to send off Indys insurance claim after his op last month so I'm hoping it's not too late to get a bit back.

Hi everyone. We are experienced dog owners but new to this particular situation.

We bred a litter of puppies, born back in November. Four puppies, two of which have gone to their new homes and are doing well. So two are still with us, one of which is the one we decided to keep. She is everything we wanted so all good there.

The other girl still with us has faulty plumbing so is urine incontinent. This is sometimes called wet puppy, due to ectopic ureters where the urine doesn't feed into the bladder but into the vagina instead. We are waiting for a referral for laser treatment to try and correct this sometime in the next month.

When we first spotted this at a few days old, the owner of the stud dog said she would have her put to sleep. We felt we owed it to her to try and get this treated so carried on. Every day I am torn between thinking we struggle on and get her fixed (no guarantees that it will work) and thinking we should have taken that advice.

As the pups have grown the sheer amount of dribbled wee she produces has grown too. I shower her three times a day but her fur is damp and stained. The kitchen smells no matter how much I clear up and it gets on the other puppy too as they cuddle up together.

She has had pre op blood and urine tests and we are waiting for the referral to come through. Blood test needed repeating yesterday as there was a problem with the first sample. Hoping that doesn't hold things up as I am counting the days at the moment.

Poor little thing didn't ask for this and we just hope we are doing the best for her and we get a good outcome. She is such a jolly little soul. We are all getting attached so I don't think she will be going anywhere else once she is fixed.

GooodMythicalMorning · 08/02/2018 16:20

Oh poor sweetheart. I have no experience of this so can't advise but I hope everything goes well. Xx

Boo - my cockapoo is eating everything too. He loves crunching pencils. He’s starting to nibble the wicker toy basket.

Truffle - I really respect that you are trying to give the puppy a chance. I would do the same. Is the operation generally successful? For what it’s worth, my sister’s male cat had to have all his plumbing rebuilt after he was hit by a car - the vet essentially created a new opening in his groin. The operation was successful and he’s dry and clean. And yes, it sounds like she is staying with you after all this Grin

Trufflethewuffle · 09/02/2018 07:02

There is a fair chance of success, if not fully sorted by the op then it can improve after first season for some reason. There are medical options if there is still a problem.

If we get there on the day and scans show something more horrible such as deformed poorly functioning kidneys then we have an awful decision to make. Fingers crossed that isn't the case.

Sostenueto · 09/02/2018 10:25

My pup Cleo sick during the night. She us nearly 7 months and still her tummy will only take one type of food and only one flavour! Bought her same brand of allergenic food but a different flavour for a change, just gave her a little bit to try which she liked and now I've been up all night with her being sick!
She will not touch kibble in any form, any fllavour or brand including the vets and took me ages to find a wet food to suit her. At £2 a tin x2 a day its not exactly cheap or available everywhere. She won't touch dog treats or chews or bones and not even a konga with cheese in which she will eat. ( only a little cheese do I give her) and on top of being really all over the place this week anyway for no apparent reason I'm about done in! She can't even have normal wormers and flea treatment she has to have tablets from the vet as even vets pipets make her sick. When she had her injections she ended up on a drip throwing up! Looks like I'm doomed with an over sensitive tummied dog!
