Welcome GooodMythicalMorning. Glad things are going well Grin and it's great isn't it when they learn a new command.

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/07/2017 14:05

It is! Love your name. It reminds me of my puppy.

BiteyShark · 13/07/2017 17:53

Thanks GooodMythicalMorning I picked it in honour of my puppy at the time Grin

Yokohamajojo not sure I want to watch it as I would love not to leave my dog and work but needs must.

towelpintpeanuts watch out he will be diving into any water he sees now he has had his first dip Grin

Hi All - sorry for invading - unfortunately no puppy loveliness to report Sad

Just wanted to highlight this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_doghouse/2956670-Useful-resources-for-common-questions

Which has loads of amazing info on health, behaviour, child-dog interactions, etc. and which might be useful for all you puppy owners. Additionally if you have more resources that you've found helpful in your survival please add them!
Thank you

Evening all, welcome gooodmythicalmorning a bulldog pup sounds super cute! I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh as a pup.

Posted a question about how long could you leave a pup for earlier in the doghouse as I thought that I'd probably used up all my questioning on this thread.... blimey. I didn't realise quite how worked up I would get people. Will stay here for any further questions!!

Is it too early to start trying to train a bit? I've been trying to get pup to "sit" in between naps and Play time! Just using bits of his dry food to reward...

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/07/2017 22:14

My boy Indy

BiteyShark · 13/07/2017 22:21

I started training from day one, just a little at a time as it's very tiring for young pups. Teaching them sit is the best command because you use it for everything, sit before you eat, sit whilst you do something, stay is just an extension of sit and some people just use sit as in sit until I tell you to move.

Yes I like it in here, sometimes much more than outside in the general doghouse Wink

Oh I think we might have to start a part 3 puppy survival thread soon as this is almost full.

towelpintpeanuts · 13/07/2017 22:24

Aww, Indy is cute!

Agree re: training: we started training in the first week or so - certainly by the time he was 11 weeks he had sit/lie and probably paw (not useful really, but cute!) Sit was definitely easiest: if you google youtube videos there's an easy way of basically luring them to sit!

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/07/2017 22:27

Yes sit was the easiest to do. Thank you, I love him but I know a lot of people don't agree with having them.

Captainladder · 13/07/2017 22:31

He is gorgeous!

BiteyShark · 14/07/2017 09:36

Now I know this may have just been a fluke but BiteyDog actually came straight back on recall whistle whilst hurtling towards a herd (or whatever the collective term is) of deers. I was so proud he got three pieces of cheese and a big piece of sausage as a reward. I just wish that would happen all the time :)

GooodMythicalMorning · 14/07/2017 09:56

That's good Smile

Captainladder · 14/07/2017 09:58

Well done BiteyDog :)

GooodMythicalMorning · 14/07/2017 10:02

Indy loves cheese but it seems to upset his tummy so just stick to the dog treats I know don't.

BiteyShark · 14/07/2017 10:18

BiteyDog will take your arm off for cheese, you can't use any in the kitchen without him knowing and pleading for a bit Grin

BiteyShark · 14/07/2017 10:29

The thread is almost at 1000 posts again so I have started survival thread part 3. If anyone wants to join me I will see you over there Brew

Yokohamajojo · 14/07/2017 12:07

Ginmakesmecry · 14/07/2017 12:24

We're having this little lady on the right to join us soon and I was just researching which dry food to buy, she's currently on Beta which isn't getting the best reviews so I was just wondering what you would all reccomend, thanks

Thanks Bitey

Lexa just went for me...

She had ripped open a bin bag and had gotten out the tray some roast beef came on (raw)

She had that towel thing underneath the meat in her mouth and as I went to take it off her, she actually went for me. Her teeth grazed my finger.

Little bit shocked.

I know it was a very high value object and she really wanted it, but she's never done anything like that before

Sounds like a give that back. Did she actually go for you or try and snatch it back?
