Should I reopen the happy place cafe?

I'm often awake in the night, today was a lie in for me, only properly awake since 4am.

In lockdown I opened, 'the happy place café where I would make virtual breakfasts and people would come to chat.

When it was last opened my French pastry chef Florence had married Fernando the cocktail waiter.

The kitten bees are inside because it is too old but the bumble cats are in the garden as usual.

SO should I reopen or was just something for lockdown?

Hopefully sashh can have a much deserved rest after her exam today.
I will put everything in order, sweep up, cuddle the kitten bees and give them some jam.

I roasted some peppers and made a few frittata(s) for tomorrow. Also brought some buffalo mozzarella, my favorite smoked olive oil and Florence agreed to make some good crusty bread along with an assortment of other lovely baked things.

ScottBakula · 06/06/2023 15:38

I hope the exams go well @sashh . I am sure Fernando will have a fantastic cocktail on the bar for you as soon as you walk in.

Sweetpea1532 · 06/06/2023 16:49

Fingers crossed for the results of your exam@sashh
I'll be glad to tidy up and do hosting so you can get some much needed down time!
@AliceOlive thank you for the music..it took me down memory lane to my teen years...that is a great song!

sashh · 07/06/2023 03:29

Morning.

What a splendid job you have all done, thank you.

The exam was disaster but I had put in ext circs so hopefully I can have resit.

A friend came over and cooked for me. Well he came round with a bag of Iceland frozen food and put it in the oven.

I see Florence has made some delicious looking breads so I think I'll just serve jams and preserves, so marmalade, jam of various flavours, sweet chutneys, bottled fruit and home made pickles.

Fernando has a range of fruit cocktails.

Oh, @sashh ...I'm sorry the exam was a disaster for you...it wasn't meant to be right now, I suppose. We'll put positive thoughts out into the Universe and you'll pass that exam on the resit, for sure.Flowers

NoTeaNoShade · 07/06/2023 04:51

I'm sorry you had a disastrous exam Sashh, try not to think about it too much for the time being.

I'd love one of those fruity cocktails please and perhaps some toast and jam for pretty mornings such as these.

AliceOlive · 07/06/2023 12:48

Thank heavens for good friends.

Flubadubba · 07/06/2023 14:20

Hope you're OK @sashh.

Popped by to out some orange juice and prosecco in the fridge for the night shift. Also a couple of bucket loads of fresh eggs, tomatoes and herbs from the garden.

AliceOlive · 08/06/2023 01:47

I’ve spent some time tidying the gardening and playing with the kitten bees.

Back later, I’m sure.

NoTeaNoShade · 08/06/2023 02:13

<peers in and spots AliceOlive>

Mind if I flop onto a beanbag? I see there might be some orange juice and Prosecco chilling in the fridge. I've poured myself a much diluted bucks fizz and have my book, in the hope it'll help me nod off. When I wake up I'm going back for marmalade on toast, if there's still some left from Florence's batch cooking the other day.

alienslove · 08/06/2023 02:17

Sorry it didn't go well @sashh fingers crossed for a resit x
I've not managed to pop by for ages but really fancy some jam on toast right now... some nice thick white bread with some strawberry jam... mmmm yummy!

AliceOlive · 08/06/2023 02:31

You too, @alienslove

sashh · 08/06/2023 02:45

Morning.

Well as there are ingredients for a bucks fizz I think we need some posh breakfasts. Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, fine herb omelets, tomato salad, blinis and caviar.

Florence is making some intriguing looking pastries and Fernando is experimenting with sparkling wine cocktails.

NoTeaNoShade · 08/06/2023 03:42

Upgrading my marmalade on toast to a blini or two! Bucks Fizz didn't do the trick, so I'm going to linger closer to Fernando and see what experimental cocktails he comes up with 😀

sashh · 08/06/2023 04:14

@NoTeaNoShade try a black velvet - champagne and Guinness.

NoTeaNoShade · 08/06/2023 04:16

Perfect! Thanks Sashh

AliceOlive · 08/06/2023 04:44

I’d love eggs Benedict and whatever experimental cocktail suits Fernando.

sashh, thank you for creating this space and welcoming us. It’s so very good.

sashh · 08/06/2023 06:27

You are very welcome @AliceOlive Alice

Hello! Can I have a cocktail or three and a blini with cream cheese and smoked salmon please?
Sorry your exam was tricky @sashh , you never know, sometimes they go better than you thought, if not fingers crossed 🤞 for your mit circs. IME it will go through if it's true and not actively against policy (I make decisions on this a lot at work)
The cafe is looking really cosy tonight. I'm going to chill in an armchair for a bit.

sashh · 09/06/2023 05:09

Morning.

Thank you all for the kind words re my exam.

I'm thinking a trip below the equator is in order so from Peru Pan con Chicharrón is a pork and sweet potato sandwich, Calentado from Colombia and Florence is making Argentinian Facturas.

Fernando is experimenting with coffee and mate cocktails.

sashh I’m always amazed with the depth of your food knowledge!

I would love to try the Calentado and Facturas. Both are new to me.

MinnieMountain · 09/06/2023 06:08

Good morning
I’d love to try the facturas, if only for the name 😁
I’ll pop by for an afternoon cocktail later.
