My husband and I discovered this at Xmas after getting Season 1 DVD from his elderly uncle (how cool is said elderly uncle) and we are completely addicted. We're on Season 4 now - anyone else addicted too?

my ds loves jessica!!! more than i love the wire!!

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 21:29

Who's jessica??
I must confess I wasn't aware there were tv progs with the Gormiti... I boycott Italian tv as a form of protest against Berlusconi

mehdismummy · 17/03/2010 21:32

jessica is the girl one!! ds has all the lords of nature figures! i would have all the wire figs if i could!!!

mehdismummy · 17/03/2010 21:33

must go however shall we meet up again and quote ourselves silly!

mehdismummy · 17/03/2010 21:35

ooh have u seen greys anatomy?

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 21:39

I'll leave you with a "Even if I miss, I can't miss" mehdismummy...

I'm afraid I've never got into Grey's anatomy, mostly because I found all the characters very irritating after 2 mins I started watching.
I was an ER fan.

mehdismummy · 17/03/2010 21:40

it was all about george clooney!!!

mehdismummy · 17/03/2010 21:41

hope to catch up with you again

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 21:55

Oh no, it was more than just GC (though George's appeal was undeniable )

DomesticG0ddess · 18/03/2010 13:09

Ahh.. Omar in his PJ's, that was super funny. And I know it was not something you should laugh at, but when some of Avon's guys took a pop at Omar and his granny when they were leaving church, and they knocked her hat off (did they call it a crown or something), and they kept going on about it because the "code" says you're not supposed to shoot on a Sunday. So good.

Oh that's one of my fav scenes Domestic! Omar is enraged, and tells Kimmy and Dante that his grandma thinks he works in a cafeteria

DomesticG0ddess · 18/03/2010 13:35

Oh yes, at the airport, because he knows she never goes to the airport! I couldn't do the lists last night because we had to watch Episode 11, Season 4!!!!

I had to close computer quickly before my OH saw what I was doing.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 13:42

yes, at the airport

Season 4 is amazing.

Sputnik · 18/03/2010 13:44

I love how Omar won't wear a suit for his court appearance but does to take his granny to church. Looks good in it too.
I think season 3 may be my favourite to date, I liked that whole 9/11 Gulf war metaphor going on, and the Hamsterdam thing, plus there was a element of humour. Season 4 was brilliant but very traumatic.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 13:49

Lots of humour in season 5, dark humour, of course.

I think my favourite season has been season 4, followed by season 2.

DomesticG0ddess · 18/03/2010 13:56

It is difficult to say. I am finding there is more violence in Season 4, I am covering my eyes more (can't watch violent things). Find all the politics so interesting, if infuriating!!!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 14:00

Yes, there is some shocking violence in season 4. Still, I think it's the most "complete" series, even the shocking violence is never gratuitous. I loved it all (and those boys are amazing actors)

sickofsocalledexperts · 18/03/2010 14:01

I found the whole school/kids theme in season 4 pretty harrowing and thought 5 was a bit silly in parts. Probably fave series are 1 and 3. Initially was a bit pissed off with all the new characters and plotlines in 2, and yearned for more Avon, but it grew on me actually. What's the name of the book-reading gangster who comes in from New York and forms an unlikely bond with Omar after getting shot by him?

Boco · 18/03/2010 14:02

Ooh Franca, I liked seasons 2 and 4 best too. I loved frank sabotka, and loved the corner boys.

5 was really disapointing, they seemed to really lose it.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 14:11

That's Brother Mouzone (loved him!)

Oooooh Boco (hello!)

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 14:12

I was very disappointed with Season 5 to begin with, but I found that it started to make sense at the end (plus, I think it's quite humorous, especially when they take the piss out of CSI )

DomesticG0ddess · 18/03/2010 14:13

It was so tense every time Brother Mouzone and Omar were together, I just thought one of them would turn round and shoot the other!!

Boco · 18/03/2010 14:14

(Franca hello! I love a wire thread, and a wire thread with franca on it even better)

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 14:24

Yo Boco! You are making me

I'm so relieved this thread has been started, as I said earlier, dh is starting to get irritated by my wire addiction (despite the fact that he's adopted a ghetto slang). And no one else watched it here in Italy ()

for you domestic

Have to go and get the children from school, see you later!

sickofsocalledexperts · 18/03/2010 14:51

Great clips on youtube! It's "all in the game" is a great phrase - sums up quite a lot about life , like so many lines in the Wire!
