Have just watched it on the i-player, and it was rather uneven. Not in the sense that there was no thematic continuity between the plot strands (all 3 are having similar difficulty trying to cheat their natures, trying to cheat the forces ranged against them, etc.).

But Divatheshopaholic, you are quite right to target George's moving-on-quite-so-quickly. Ugh! Not just morally unsatisfying, but such a plot cop-out! Couldn't they just let him swear a bit with his students? Or feel protective love for his students, and want to attack someone for that reason?

And I wasn't quite convinced about Ivan's conversion. Why would he care about vampire emotions, even if they were hope and excitement and the sensations of fasting.

Grrr.

It was an interesting switch, though, to see Prof Jaggat relegated to intellectual window-dressing for Kemp's crusade.

Sorry to be such a whiner. Hope everyone is well, and that next Sunday will be a happier time for us all!

thesteelfairy · 02/02/2010 12:38

Oh I was horrified when Nina was in the chamber, I couldn't watch. So glad she was saved by "evil only because she is misguided" Doctor.

I don't think George has moved on at all. He only thinks he has. It was never going to be that easy was it? Nina will need help at some point and George will go running, though I do like new girl too.

Liked RAF pilot as well, though I may be thick here but why can Mitchell and George see Annie and other ghosts when no-one else can, just because they are supernatural too? George is only a werewolf once a month. Doesn't quite add up for me.

Love Mitchell the best of course but don't like the way his story is going, don't turn into a baddie Mitchell please, even though it is for the greater good!

Squitten · 02/02/2010 13:53

I think the thing with George is that he thought that being a werewolf was just about the transformation once a month but he's now discovering that it's in there all the time and that the wolf is part of his nature and has to be released.

Actually, I think that's a big theme in this series generally. Mitchell is battling vampire nature with the blood fasting, George is battling the wolf in his personality and Annie is exploring the nature of being a ghost. It's all about denial really - denial of blood, denial of violence and denial of death.

Puts on Philosopher's hat

Divatheshopaholic · 02/02/2010 16:22

Lol @ Squitten, Are you Pro. Jagget?
Im not keen on Lucy as she pouts far too much.
I agree, George knocked the wolf down, but the anger is not out, its trying to get out. I think he is brillian actor, does good job, dh and i laughed so much when he was swearing at car park.
I was wondering where Daisy gone last week, will she arrive with pregnancy news, as she was so keen on George, chasing him around.
Ivan is so ghosty, and im not sure about Mitchell`s plan, will it backfire him?

littlepollyflinders · 03/02/2010 20:06

Just want to make all you Aiden Turner

I have found my in!
Six degrees of separation! 2!!
How are you?

Have now bumped into Ivan the vampire 3 times locally.
Clearly we are near neighbours.
He wants to have puppies with my dog

littlepollyflinders · 03/02/2010 20:07

Aiden Turner fans - that is.
The excitement is affecting my typing

WingedVictory · 03/02/2010 21:39

What a shame, littlepollyflinders, I did laugh at the idea that you wanted to populate MN with Aiden Turners!

Like the Master in the Last Doctorr Who!

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2010 15:12

very true squitten - all 3 have got to learn with their flaws of nature

Divatheshopaholic · 05/02/2010 19:30

she is Jaggett

Squitten · 07/02/2010 22:00

Aiden Turner + Ghost Baby = Spontaneous ovulation of thousands of women

littlepollyflinders · 07/02/2010 23:39

Desperately need cold shower after that episode but dd in the bath....
Mitchell having sex in 2 time zones simultaneously
TOOO MUCH!

MrsMotMot · 08/02/2010 16:26

I knew George hadn't really moved on. I like Nina and have high hopes for a double transformation and a werewolf baby.

I love this show but was very annoyed [geek emoticon] that Mitchell could get into the paedophile's house and the 1960s girl's flat uninvited- everyone knows vampires have to be asked in! Ok if in being Human they decided to ditch that vampire rule but in the first series it was an issue- Herrick staking Mitchell at his door, unable to get in (he said something about 'that pesky rule' or some such). Just a little inconsistency grrr.

Otherwise great. Think Jaggart may stake Mitchell in the end, out of mercy- otherwise he'll never be free.

Squitten · 08/02/2010 17:26

Did anyone make the connection to series 1? The girl from the 60s was the same woman who met Mitchell back in series one. She had terminal cancer and let Mitchell drain her blood when he was staked and in hospital

littlepollyflinders · 08/02/2010 19:02

Ooh Squitten you clever girl
That's really paying attention instead of just drooling like wot I do

MrsMotMot · 08/02/2010 19:58

Ah HAAAAA Squitten!! Oooh might pretend to DH that I remembered this... nothing to do with MN...

Squitten · 09/02/2010 18:34

LOL

Bleatblurt · 09/02/2010 19:15

I made the connection!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2010 08:30

well done squitten

thats went striaght over this dappy blondes head

tho, tbh i did think she looked kinda familar, but thought i had seen her in something else on tv

bewareofthedog · 10/02/2010 09:07

Can anyone explain the deal with vampires? Why do they sometimes kill and sometimes recruit? Can't they feed and recruit at the same time so that they avoid killing? Is it not as satisfying if they don't kill?

coolasfudge · 10/02/2010 10:07

the girl from the 60's, think her name was joanie, is aidan turners RL girlfriend although i think they have split up now

OP posts:
Divatheshopaholic · 10/02/2010 10:32

yep, the 60s girl was josie, mitchells only lover, who understood him. she died it think they tried us to believe that jaggett was josies replacement, the person who going to love him, and stand by, jaggett does too much pouting, it does not suits her at all.
last week was quite confuisng in many way. ghost baby, ghost mum going date, george decided to move in with the woamn he just met, mithcell killing the cop etcc.....

WingedVictory · 10/02/2010 14:20

Bloody hell, I missed a lot by not watching this! Will get onto the i-player as soon as can guarantee the time!

Squitten, you see to be doing a great job. You go, (girl)geek!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2010 16:16

what would we i do without squitten explaining it

WingedVictory · 11/02/2010 22:57

Right. After complaining last week about Mitchell's godawful unfanciable unshavenness, I have now seen him shaven, and am afraid it's still no-go for me. Do sort him out between yourselves nicely, though. We don't want bloodstains on our nice white MN screens.

It was great to see Herrick back, though. In the last series, I thought he was "the banality of evil": such a pub bore, jollying everyone along, wanting Mitchell around to glam him up. But in this episode, Herrick was really, fantastically nasty (except for that cliche about being limited only by imagination). No wonder that poor girl wanted Mitchell to kill her instead of H.

Squitten · 12/02/2010 15:35

LOL - I am a Being Human nerd of the highest order! I really should have some kind of hat...

I got very excited when I saw that Herrick was back (briefly) - love him!

Russell Tovey is stepping out on us! Going from werewolf to dole scrounger:
