Sorry to cause any alarm to you! At least I haven't stalked you from thread to thread!

lljkk · 15/01/2010 19:52

Yeah, without the humour I feel very meh about it. The new show was way too hectic and gothic for my taste. . I'll give it a few more episodes... before reverting to just watching Merlin with the DC.

wintera · 18/01/2010 10:30

Last night's ep was gripping! Loving the Annie storyline, what the bloody hell???? And poor Nina! Will she end up like that other poor bugger in that chamber?

Anyone got any ideas on who the Professor is that we haven't seen yet?

AppleTreeWick · 18/01/2010 13:34

hmmm the professor will be a highly attractive older man who turns out to be a Necromancer and or the orig Dracula...and it's all part of a power play to take over the world (again).

I'm enjoying it and there was more humour last night but not enough imo: the weight is definitely to the dramatic/horror/gothic isn't it?

also...it's a series why couldn't we have met Carl a couple of times early in the series than only later on does he fall off the waggon. I'd care more. I just find it annoying when everything is crammed into one episode instead of dripped in across a series.

You're all now going to tell me it was set up last series I know....

Squitten · 18/01/2010 19:19

Nah, Carl was all new. I think that's just the tip of a whole big vampire storyline.

I'm liking the darker edge to this series. I keep wondering though, what will happen if George and Nina... "mate"??

wintera · 18/01/2010 20:05

Yeah Carl was definitely all new. Although I recognised the actor from This Life, he played the young trainee lawyer in Anna's firm.

Ivan the Vampire is growing on me. Loved the fact that he had Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights on in the car!

Stilla · 18/01/2010 20:29

I'm still grinning over this fab line

"He's your murdering fugitive, If you want to keep him, you'll have to look after him."

bewareofthedog · 19/01/2010 20:18

I'm a late-comer to this; I just started watching towards the end of the last series. Can anyone explain to me how Annie became visible and why has she gone back to being invisible and untouchable?

And how did 'they' find them? Was it something to do with Annie's ex boyfriend?

I'm really enjoying it, although I have to watch it on demand as it's too scary for me to watch right before bedtime!

Squitten · 20/01/2010 11:11

I don't think it was ever spelled out crystal clear but...

WARNING - SPOILERS FOR SERIES ONE!

In Series one, Annie went through the process of discovering how she had died with the help of another ghost. When she realised that she was murdered by her ex and made her peace with it, she was given her own death door. Right when she was about to go through it, Mitchell was staked and Annie chose not to go and stayed to help Mitchell. As a result, she discovered her powers were ramped up - she could throw people across rooms, etc. She became solid after that. Now that she's not gone through the door yet again, she seems to have lost her abilities.

"They" are still a mystery for the most part. Right at the end of the first season, Annie, Mitchell and George confronted Annie's ex and revealed themselves to him in order to scare him away. He handed himself into the police and, because he was blabbering about ghosts, vampires and werewolves, he was put in an asylum. That's where "they" found him and discovered the whereabouts of the three of them.

Hope that helps!

WingedVictory · 20/01/2010 21:20

I'm wondering whether Mitchell and George will be able to see Annie, either.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2010 11:55

so was annie meant to go through the door then when bloke/boyfriend was in a coma

loved the tv/terry wogan bit

bubblagirl · 21/01/2010 12:14

they could see her before but no one else could

the door was all set up with him so he can take her through the door hence the meeting in pub the tv telling him to go for a drive after drinking he was supposed to die in the crash so he could take her to the other side

its all very gripping at the moment just love this programme

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2010 14:38

Divatheshopaholic · 24/01/2010 21:57

Divatheshopaholic · 24/01/2010 21:59

OMG! What a twist

Squitten · 24/01/2010 22:09

Even DH was heard to mutter "Oh my God!" at the end of tonight's one Never saw that coming at all. And how much did you want to cuddle George...?

Tonight's episode was INTENSE!!

southeastastra · 25/01/2010 10:35

i love the way it's getting more intense! though a bit too graphic sometimes but i guess it's hard to do vampire without a little blood

coolasfudge · 25/01/2010 13:24

After watching the first episode of this series, which scared the absolute sh*t out of me, im loving it again, only trouble is im go off to fantasy land everytime mitchell is on the screen and im missing the plot a bit!

WingedVictory · 25/01/2010 16:27

They can't seem to get out of their traps, can they, any of them? Well done the writers for not giving them easy exits. Except Hugh and Kirsty, who had a quite nice exit last night. That was sweet.

Bleatblurt · 26/01/2010 20:27

I was totally at the end of the latest episode! I usually can see this sort of thing coming but so did not see this one.

littlepollyflinders · 26/01/2010 23:22

No didn't see that one coming at all
Does she know about Mitchell?
She MUST do!
I can't bear it.....

Divatheshopaholic · 27/01/2010 08:40

Its getting better, which is great. Last time i asked dh if the doctor will be good vampire wife to Mitchell. i found her really cool, she seemed really keen on hom, too. hence she is actually professor behind all experiment from next weeks trailer, we both we shellshocked.
I worried about Nina now. I think, she decided to go that chamber Hope they will save her.
I think doctor knows Mitchell, as all seems set up, because she is new bored single doctor isnt she?

WingedVictory · 27/01/2010 10:52

Yes, she knows; she has been goading him for ages, hoping he will reveal himself to her. All those sarky comments about the Gay Vampire. Of course she does. I thought the religious comments this week were also interesting, as a clue or red herring about her motivations: spending time in the chapel, offering the cross to the vampire attack victim (the student), talking about people going to the chapel when they are "CTD: Circling The Drain." She said the CTD was "doctor speak", but it sounds rather more like the arrogance of someone who despises people who haven't committed to The Way as she has, and are hoping for last-minute salvation without the hard work. I see these as clues to her treating vampirism and lycanthropy as scourges, not just to be cured medically, but cleansed spiritually (with the violence of "ethnic cleansing" if necessary).

However, that would be of a piece with the growing focus on morality in the series: George and Mitchell's sins (infecting Nina and rebuilding the network which protects vampires rather than allowing them all to be caught and killed, even at the expense of a bloodbath when they realise there's nothing to hold back for anymore, and start feeding and killing like mad). Even Annie's in an interesting moral situation: should she really be there? Or does the violence of the men with sticks in the tunnel make her, resisting them, pure?

RoRoMummy · 27/01/2010 11:33

I am almost 39 and a (generally) very sensible woman, mother of 2 and Childminder to 4 others. But a very strange thing has happened to me of late... I have become OBSESSED by Mr Aidan Turner in a very big way: have been recording episodes of Being Human to watch during the daytime uninterrupted when the kiddies are at school/nursery, keep on Googling for pics and You Tube clips, ordered both Being Human series 1 and Desperate Romantics on Amazon, have made a special screensaver of pics for my phone... it is MAD! I am behaving like a teenager, yet deluded and pushing 40! But there is one really major difference between my teenage crushes of years ago and this: I would now know EXACTLY what to do with him. Have spent ages daydreaming about the man... in a really very sordid and lustful manner. Yikes! What the heck is going on? Anyone else there going 'loopy' too?

littlepollyflinders · 27/01/2010 13:41

LOVE your analysis WV but whilst somewhere on a higher plane my brain must have been was computing all that I'm afraid I went a bit RRM and said out loud,
"Have you noticed how Aiden Turner's profile is just as gorgeous from the right as the left?"
Silence from dp.
Me again - "Oh god - we're going to lose him to Hollywood, aren't we?"
I'm with you RRM
