persephonesnape · 30/12/2009 18:29

thought a new thread would be apt - it is, after all a two parter...

are you ready? I don't think I am. I think I might cry - especially after the scene with wilf in the cafe and the added poignancy (sp?) of to be or not to be on boxing day.

do we have theories? or are we just content that the world is populated by John Simm giggling look a likes (especially as we are all, obviously, at least 1/2 timelord and therefore unchanged.)

countdoooooooown!

"I don't want to go"

[blub]

KaySqueeHarker · 03/01/2010 19:59

That's what I thought, Rusty, he doesn't have to be shooting a person- and in fact the angle rather suggests something else - maybe a balloon, perhaps.

Noticed the kissing. For crying out loud.

As an episode it doesn't stand up to repeat viewings very well, though I still loved moments. Loved it the first time through, but now I think I'm definitely going to be dipping in to the back catalogue to remember what it's all about - the extended goodbyes seemed to clobber the emotion of the actual regeneration for me. POTW is much better.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 03/01/2010 20:40

Well, I've watched it three times now (only because dd2 wanted to, honest ) and it isn't really growing on me. As KaySH said though - there are moments. Bernard Cribbins was very good and I actually warmed to Donna's mum.
Plus, I thought DT's face, when he thought he'd escaped death and then Wilfred knocked, was amazing. It hardly shifted a muscle but went from unbelieving happiness in surviving to total desolation - that gave me goosebumps!

UnquietDad · 03/01/2010 20:46

Docs 8-11 have had snoggage. We only need two more before it's more or less 50-50 between those who have and those who haven't. (1 had a sort-of-romance.)

RustyBear · 03/01/2010 21:14

One and Camilla, UQD? We don't really know exactly what they got up to in that garden...

SoupDragon · 03/01/2010 21:14

Have just watched the trailer - dear god, I knew 11 was young but I had no idea he was so ugly!

Love the weeping angels - DSs and I had weeks of fun creeping up on each other after the first one.

JJ · 03/01/2010 22:01

Oh, poor boy, he's not bad looking, he's just young. He looks a bit like one of my husband's friends.

UnquietDad · 03/01/2010 22:03

Cameca, Rusty They got engaged!

RustyBear · 03/01/2010 22:05

I thought Camilla didn't sound right! DH said it was & I couldn't be bothered to check....

WingedVictory · 03/01/2010 22:37

So exciting. I've just finished watching the 2nd part on i-player, and was very excited to see the resurrection gauntlet, as nymphadora and someone else commented.

But I can't work out where Torchwood's one came from, if the Time Lords' world was "time locked".

Bastards put it in to tease us into watching more of both Dr Who and Torchwood.

(DH has just come in to inform me that there is some beeping going on - it is fire alarm battery - and our Q&A session reminded me of the lack of problem solving ability dramatised in "There's a Hole in the Bucket, Dear Liza"). Sheesh.

Anyway, the Doctor. I shall watch the trailer now! Many thanks for the heads-up!

UnquietDad · 03/01/2010 23:42

I thought it was The Glove Of Rassilon. Everything is The Something of Rassilon on Gallifrey. They probably can't take a dump without going to The Toilet Of Rassilon.

foxinsocks · 04/01/2010 07:36

I watched it again yesterday while doing my twice a year back to work ironing stint grr (after watching Dr Who Confidential) and it has grown on me. I think hearing the writers and producer describe what they were trying to achieve made it a damn sight more watchable.

And watching David Tennant say thank you and good bye to the production team while obviously fighting back the tears was really moving!

Elffriend · 04/01/2010 10:43

Does anyone know if Confidential is being repeated anywhere? . It did not occur to DH that I needed that recording too

I know I can watch it on i-player but it's not the same (wail)

I need a fix!

mankyscotslass · 04/01/2010 11:10

It was on last night again.

I'm sure they will repeat it, but not got a clue when.

WingedVictory · 04/01/2010 20:34

UnquietDad, PMSL at the toilet of Rassilon. A bit like that scene in Being John Malkovich, when he went inside his own head, and everyone was John Malkovich (and talked thus: "Malkovich Malkovich?" "Malkovich" "Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich!").

I bet RTD was thinking of that, you know, with that stunt The Master pulled!

The tea-towel of Rassilon is a good one. Or the biscuit tin of Rassilon.

UnquietDad · 04/01/2010 21:52

Leonie - no, the Hand of Omega was something else entirely. It was a Remote Stellar Device, not a hand or glove or anything shaped like one.

[UQD clicks "will not be out-geeked" head on]

Sorry, UQD, I think we are all out-geeked by the Spreadsheet of Rassilon
