persephonesnape · 30/12/2009 18:29

thought a new thread would be apt - it is, after all a two parter...

are you ready? I don't think I am. I think I might cry - especially after the scene with wilf in the cafe and the added poignancy (sp?) of to be or not to be on boxing day.

do we have theories? or are we just content that the world is populated by John Simm giggling look a likes (especially as we are all, obviously, at least 1/2 timelord and therefore unchanged.)

countdoooooooown!

Trailer? I didn't get to see confidential cos we've only just watched the episode. My sister turned up 5 mins before it started and announced we couldn't watch it as she hadn't watched the first part yet.

That was better than I thought it would be (considering who wrote it), some lovely moments with the Doctor and Wilf and John Simm was great too. However was very annoyed by the jumping out of the spaceship thing and the bit at the end where as many characters as poss were dragged in for a mention (though I did cheer when I saw Jack).

I now feel rather depressed. Beloved TARDIS is all wrecked (bet the new one involves oak panelling) and 10 has gone. 11 does nothing for me, I don't even think he is a good actor.

The trailer is on the DW website that nymphadora linked to at 21:08:37

persephonesnape · 01/01/2010 21:51

Still a bit weepy. :'(.

I enjoyed it through the tears (I like a bit of sentiment me and adore Mr Simm's master) but oooh I was squeeing in readiness for a Ianto resurrection moment at the end...and then old big ears werewolf boy was thrown to Jack like a consolation prize....still I will always have fanfiction.

oxocube · 01/01/2010 21:55

have just added DT as wallpaper on my phone

Pixel · 01/01/2010 21:58

Found trailer thanks.

Nope, didn't help.

Pixel · 01/01/2010 22:04

Btw, was that the other risen mitten?

Pixel · 01/01/2010 22:05

That the time lord was wearing I mean, not the trailer. Sorry, being confusing.

foxinsocks · 01/01/2010 22:08

thought the last 15 mins was great, rest of it (and the other episode) pretty pointless

there was a trailer just now now

somewhere before the eastenders episode

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/01/2010 22:59

any thoughts on dates for next series?

Pixel · 01/01/2010 23:01

Quick glimpse of the new TARDIS interior in the trailer. It's not at all bad actually.

gaelicsheep · 01/01/2010 23:17

Can someone please explain to me WHY the Dr needed to say goodbyes before regenerating? He carries his memories with him doesn't he - I mean he even remembered that old woman whose granddaughter had written a book from her diaries. And he remembered Rose, who was companion to the previous Dr. It was all a bit daft and self-indulgent at the end IMO.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/01/2010 23:21

I don't think he needed to, twas for us to say goodbye. dh hated that bit but fo me was a bit of Christmas sentiment.

wintera · 01/01/2010 23:27

Regarding the lady who kept appearing, (Claire Bloom) I thought she was an older version of Donna.

I shall miss DT but I must say I am looking forward to the new guy. I have liked him in the other stuff that I have seen him in so I have very high hopes. And as much as I love DT, (and I do!) I must admit I am a bit sick of seeing him on the tele at the moment. He seems to be popping up bloody everywhere!

Ripeberry · 01/01/2010 23:33

That must have been the longest dying scene ever! Bit of Star trek and Star wars thrown in for good measure.
Was more shocked about the Tardis getting wrecked because of the excess energy!
Think 11th will be quite good....he will grown on us...just you wait

wintera · 01/01/2010 23:44

Apparently, Claire Bloom was The Doctor's Mum.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 01/01/2010 23:57

I thought it was pretty good, and DT was the best Doctor of the lot, bar none, as far as I am concerned. I am prepared to give the new chap the benefit of the doubt, but he will have to be pretty spectacular to live up to DT's doctor.

I saw the Weeping Angels in the trailer too - that was one of my all-time favourite episodes, so I am looking forward to seeing what happens with them.

edam · 02/01/2010 00:09

tell us more, wintera? What makes you think that? Sounds intriguing...

wintera · 02/01/2010 00:18

Oh sorry Edam, I don't know anything exciting I'm afraid! I just typed Claire Bloom, Doctor Who in google and it came up with an interview with her, and the headline was something like "Claire Bloom takes on a new role, as Doctor Who's Mum" I will attach the article for you!

www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/doctor-who/5240633/Claire-Bloom-to-star-as-mother-of-Doctor-W ho.html

edam · 02/01/2010 00:23

Wow. They didn't actually make it clear that she was his Mum, though, so maybe that part was just gossip?

wintera · 02/01/2010 00:27

Oh and before I forget, and sorry if this has already been discussed but did anyone else think they were also setting the scene for new Torchwood episodes too? Captain Jack was introduced to Alonso, and Mickey and Martha were running around all gung-ho like. I thought it looked like they all might be Torchwood bound. Just a thought anyway!

MollieO · 02/01/2010 00:38

So the woman signing the book is the Dr's sister?

mynameis · 02/01/2010 04:29

Has anyone mentioned Mickey & Martha? Married!! Lucky lucky girl.

oxocube · 02/01/2010 08:36

Didn't they say something like 'child of Galifray' (sp?) whilst panning in the the older lady Time Lord who was crying. I think it implied that The Doctor was not only a child of Galifray but her own child.

sockmonkey · 02/01/2010 08:40

DH laughed at me for crying, and DSs looked at me with pity.

It just won't be the same without DT.
New boy is too young and has a face like a candle that's been left in the sun... and he has no eyebrows!

Trailer was good though. I might give him a chance.
