I have it on good authority that they are filming an episode of Dr Who at Cardiff prison key words 'The Master's wife'!!

OP posts:

Could be... or I rather like the idea that, in memory of a man that was essentially dead, Joan used the name Verity as a passed-down family name or something like that.

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 23/03/2009 13:18

actually, those ideas aren't mutually exclusive, are they? I need to make some lunch, I'm having brainmelt.

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 23/03/2009 13:19

not for lunch, obviously, that would be disgusting...

RustyBear · 23/03/2009 13:39

Yes, I thought that Verity could easily have been Joan's daughter/grandaughter, named after John Smith's mum, - but where did the Newman come from? - it would have to be co-incidence wouldn't it?

brainmelt - would that be like a tuna melt, only with brains?

You're right, it's disgusting...

PortAndLemon · 24/03/2009 11:50

Anyone on this thread from Preston and have an anecdote they haven't shared with us? I remember that bit from his autobiography, actually.

Ripeberry · 24/03/2009 17:33

My DDs class are going to St Fagans this week and a few of the kids are very into Dr Who and they are more interested in spotting the areas that were filmed for "The familly of Blood".
I'm a Cardiff girl and have always been a Dr Who fan since i was 8yrs old and i never went off it.
Then as soon as i move away from Cardiff it becomes Who central! Ironic or what?

ReallyReally · 24/03/2009 20:36

good grief I have absolutely no bloody clue what on earth is going on

better back out before I get sucked in again

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 24/03/2009 21:45

Oi, woman! You come back here!!

PortAndLemon · 27/03/2009 08:54

Report on the panel at the Celtic Media Festival.

Humph at Julie Gardner. She might as well say that the team had decided that the audience was really stupid and lacking in any imagination.

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 27/03/2009 10:18

Which is really annoying, considering that actually, no, the companion hasn't never been from another time and place. Most expecially when it appears that by 'place', the new series seems to think 'London'.

No wonder I've had Americans ask me if I knew this person they had met that lived in London.

ReallyReally · 27/03/2009 10:35

I still think the companion should be a middle aged lady

I say Julie Walters. Or Maureen Lipman.

Try writing fic about that, Harker

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 27/03/2009 10:44

Ha! there is a MN vortex device after all!

I could do Julie Walters, that'd be good. (Are we talking you know, um, fic?)

Ye'll have to wait until I've finished the Being Human one, though.

RustyBear · 27/03/2009 11:19

SSo maybe we were more intelligent back in the old days when we had a handmaiden from Troy, an 18th century Scot and a savage descendant of a planetary survey team as companions.....

In fact only 5 out of the first two Doctors' 13 regular companions were contemporary Earth natives. (Ian & Barbara, Ben & Polly and Dodo)

PortAndLemon · 27/03/2009 23:33

Interesting spoiler here (won't go into details, but I don't think I approve although it's a very RTD thing to do).

PortAndLemon · 28/03/2009 08:48

The Celtic Media Festival panel is being broadcast on BBC Radio 7 at midnight tonight, apparently.

JackieNo · 28/03/2009 20:47

I've missed about 3 gazillion posts, but in case nobody else has posted it, this made me laugh

oggspocket · 30/03/2009 18:43

Need to catch up with the thread, but look at this. Aren't they fantastic?

I love the expression on Ten's face

JackieNo · 30/03/2009 21:23

Brilliant - I really like the Vila and Avon too .

PortAndLemon · 01/04/2009 19:07

Trailer for Planet Of The Dead

IwoulddoDrWho · 01/04/2009 19:11

Deep depression. Will have to change my name and it took so long thinking of this one, but Morrissey Junior just isn't going to do it.

PortAndLemon · 01/04/2009 19:26

You could just be IwoulddoDrWhoNumberTen, although that doesn't have the poetic majesty of your current name. Or IwoulddoDrWhosHomework, I suppose.

IwoulddoDrWho · 01/04/2009 20:08

OOh thanks P and L. just saved IwoulddoDrWhobutNo10NotThis1 for that eventuality.

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 01/04/2009 21:09

Didya see it? Didyadidyadidya?

littlepollyflinders · 01/04/2009 23:41

I read

UnquietDad · 01/04/2009 23:51

How on earth will they bring you-know-who back without her brain exploding?
